Jark on seeing the damage to the castle draws his bow " This may be a wise choice Faene " Jark moves forwards trying to use cover where possible to get a position to see if there is anything at the main gate into the village.

Faene nods to the half-elf as she watches Jark advance, surprised at his subtlety. "Let us follow his lead before it's too late to do anything." Pausing briefly before she starts ahead she turns to the half-elf momentarily and says "I did not catch your name". As she says this she drops into a crouch ready to advance as quietly as possible behind the kobold.
As you peer through the open gate, you see the town square. Scattered around are empty carts, tethering posts, and rubble strewn about. But more importantly, you notice two large wolf-like creatures, feasting on the corpse of a dig. They do not seem to notice you over the ringing of the bell.
Strepit just continues down the road, humming absent mindedly. He will waltz into town, wave at the two wolves, and say "Excuse me, pups, could you point me to the Nightstone Inn?"
***Sorry, we seem to have posted at the same time, just editing my post in response to strepits actions :)***
Upon seeing the clueless halfing stride up to the two creatures Faene signals to Jark silently with her hand, motioning for the little kobold with his bow to move round to the left while indicating to Helena to follow her to the right. Trying her best to convey to Jark that she will try to get the creatures attention she sets off through the gate and to the right of the square hoping that her message came across.
“Is he crazy? I don’t think those things look especially friendly.” Ery says with an obviously concerned expression on her face. Then more to herself, “But I suppose maybe not. Maybe they just happened upon that...body and they were desperate for food. Yeah maybe that. M-maybe that.”
Jark not quite getting the idea stealthily makes his way to the left under the idea that we are using the halfing as a distraction, once Jark is in range he notches an arrow and waits for the werewolves to engage. Jark occasionally glances at Faene and Ery to check that they are in position to attack as well.
The wolf-lile creatures turn to the seemingly strange halfling. One tilts its head, confused, and the other bears its teeth and growls. They both start to walk toward him.
As she moves further round to the right Faene sees Jark move to the right and notch his bow ready for action. Good she thinks, the message got across. Glancing over her shoulder to Helena Faene whispers "I don't think they are friendly no. And yes, I think he is crazy. Get ready as we're likely about to save his life".
As the wolf-creatures start to approach the noisy halfling and growl threateningly Faene decides it is time to act. She immediately stands up from her concealed position and leaps over the cover she was concealed behind and bangs the shaft of her spear against the ground loudly before shouting "Leave him be beasts, he means you no harm. If you need someone to growl at then let it be me!"

Some how it didn't surprise Faene that the ridiculous halfling had managed to keep the beasts attention. With a shake of her head she looks back to Helena and nods, then out to where Jark was taking cover and nods once more. With that she starts towards the wolf-beasts, draws her one of her hand axes in her free hand, takes aim and lets loose the hand axe.
Not sure if I am within 20ft or not so here are some rolls for you to work with:
attack Roll 1:18 Roll 2(In case I'm at long range):24

Watching Faene and the wolf-creatures’ reactions, Ery sees an opportunity to help in a nonhurtful form. She touches a carving on her belt for reassurance and quickly takes her coat off and transforms into a slightly larger male half-orc with short unkempt dark brown hair and sideburns. He looks slightly more muscly but not to a point of extreme. He follows Faene’s lead stepping out and grabbing a mace off of his back. “I’m sorry. Did you know here the fine lady? Leave the little man alone,” he growls at the wolf-creatures.

OoC: Whoops forgot to refresh before posting. Sorry. Ignore spoiler.
Ery’s face just goes white as she sees the hand axe hit the beasts. “Oh no oh no oh no” Oh yes, she hears loud and clear in her head. She scrambles to quickly take off her coat, which already seems to have a couple sewn up tears in it, and transforms into a slightly larger male half-orc with short unkempt dark brown hair and sideburns. He looks slightly more muscly but not to a point of extreme. He grabs a mace off of his back and watches with a certain eagerness in his eyes to see what the wolf-creatures might do next.

okay, so I accidentally miss typed someone's initiative bonus, and when I went to fix it, it messed everyone up, even resulting in a Nat 1, so I am going to re-do that initiative roll.

“Yes. I’d like to go check and make sure everyone’s okay.”
You see two guard towers flank either sides of the gate, and you do not see any one in them.

The beasts look at Faene, then turn back to the halfling. He'll make for much easier pray.

As Faene's hand axe sails the air, it lands in one of the beasts shoulders. The hairy creature howls in pain, and the pair dash forwards.
