"I am a battle cleric. I first came here on a mission to hunt a monster with my squad from Faerun. We tracked the beast through the woods and almost had it cornered when it turned the tables on us... My... my.. whole squad was decimated by the foul thing. Since then, I've been wandering taking odd jobs and trying to find a way home.... Yourselves?"
"I'm here on a mission of Mercy. I'm trying to give the tools to villagers to help them defend themselves. My order gave me plenty of time to prepare and some Intel on the area. Though I must admit, it has been a little difficult getting people to trust me enough to let me help them. I've been having to prove myself to every single person I want to help. But from what I've heard about this place and the guy in charge, can't really say I blame them. As for my companion, he's been following me for a while, ever since I met him. He claims that he's leading me, though."
"Ain't that the way?" Says the stout halfling on his way over to the table. He sits next to Lae and introduces himself. "I am Zander, and this is my brother Zennas, we're the Brothers Smoothhands. He doesn't talk much but he's always got my back. We've been travelling with Lae for a while. Sorry to just jump into the conversation but you'd have met us sooner or later if you're talking to this big guy."

Lae leans in interested, "Oh, really? What order are you from?" he says hopefully.
(OOC: This is how Lae appears, though is hood would be drawn back in doors:)
"Actually, we met through a mutual friend. We were trying to clear some ***** types off her land and they asked for our help. That landed us here. We've been trying to help people in this gloomy place ever since. I nearly died trying to save a child from some old lady snatching children door to door. Barely scratched her! Scary stuff. She was definitely more than she seemed."
"Well, somewhat. We don't limit ourselves to just witches, though. We hunt evil beings regardless of what they may be. We recognize and study the power wielded by some of our enemies and seek to use it against them. We need to take a special concoction to allow us full control of it. Often, that means the powers are not as fully developed as our enemies, but they serve the purpose to augment our tactics and training."

Lae brightens at your words and says slowly, "Very interesting... Very interesting indeed..."
He leans over and whispers to Zander, "Maybe they could help us on our journey? ..I think we should invite them... what do you think?"
Subconsciously:
Maybe they're not Watchers of the Fallen... but, they sound powerful and perhaps they could aid me on my own quest...
Lae calls the barkeep over and sends the pair of odd looking creatures a dark breakfast beer. Something with banana, clove, and a hint of raisins.
The barkeep complies, walks the beer to the table and says "from the gentleman over there."
The tortle looks over, smiles, and waves them over to sit at the table.
Lae picks up whats left of his large breakfast, walks over to the amphibious table, and plops down.
"Good day. You don't look like you're from these parts -- Fellow travelers I assume?"
"You assume correctly. The name's Letharran." He holds out his hand. "Thanks for the drink. And you are?"
"Name's Laeknishendr... it means Healing Hands in Orc... but you may call me Lae. Nice to meet you Letharran."
"So what brings you to Barovia?"

"So I take it you met after arriving in Barovia, then?" Letharran gestured between the brothers and Lae.
Lae leans in interested, "Oh, really? What order are you from?" he says hopefully.

(It has now been listed as a racial slur, though I know you didn't intend it that way.)
"A blood hunter order known as mizu chenjā."
Looking disappointed Lae asks, "Oh... what's a blood hunter? Like a witch hunter?"
"Well, somewhat. We don't limit ourselves to just witches, though. We hunt evil beings regardless of what they may be. "That sounds... pretty good."

"And your exploits sound rather interesting too." Letharran says, nodding to Xander and Xennas.
