Fatigue is something I worry about. I have no idea if it is just me, but I feel the playing (myself included) has become mechanical. For example, only Rodolfo has written his 'we escaped!' post 2 days after I asked.
So, even though this is only the halfway mark, it is still a very satisfying and natural place to have our campaign end.
Having said that, what are your thoughts and reactions?
I agree about the mechanical bit - it seems we're just sometimes posting just to try and get through it, because as people we are all too polite to just drop out like many already have from this campaign, and so we remain committed to it. If this is only the halfway mark I'm not sure I want to commit another 4 years to trying to finish this campaign, and so I will be taking my leave at this break once I figure out what Skameros is going to do (should be posted shortly after this)
Kerrec, I really do appreciate all of the work you've done to keep this game alive for as long as you have, your dedication and commitment to us as players is a testament to your prowess as a DM and I would not hesitate to play with you again in the future.
To the rest of the party, it has been a wild ride and a pleasure as well to play beside you and the colorful characters you've brought to this game.
ArgentTheWise, it was a pleasure! Your dice luck has brought a smile to my face several times. I also appreciate that you stuck around with another character after Krizz was brutally murdered in his sleep.
If this is the end of the campaign for me (undecided still), I will probably hold of on PBP until my RL games peter out, or when the next iteration of D&D is live.
I will drop out at this point as well. I’ve enjoyed the campaign, and the DMing by Kerrec, and the interactions with everyone playing.
I’m tempted to continue., but RL is sucking up more time. Since this is a convenient point,, I’ll have Beegred return to his village.
If the campaign continues (with a new cast), then they should get the useful items that Beegred has been carrying: +2 short sword, +1 dagger, silver treasure box (worth 25 gp), large diamond (1000 gp), medium diamond (500 gp), and 4 small diamonds (50 gp each).

Beegred Thornpost - Lvl 8 Halfling Ranger - Out of the Abyss by Kerrec Drusk - Lvl 8 Half-Orc Life Cleric - The Long Road: Dragon Heist by Mingofaust (player & current DM) Hunferho Aelorothi - Lvl 5 Half-Elf Bard/Rogue - Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus (by Pokepaladdy) DM - Frontier City of Nunkreet (ended)
I have taken the time to reflect on this campaign. I've gone over my notes from the RL campaign I ran, and I went over the module again to brainstorm ways to speed things up so we wouldn't spend another 4 years to finish. I don't think speeding things up would do the module justice or be fun to play. It would just end up as mechanical questing and combat.
I suppose I am feeling a bit of play by post fatigue. I've also wound down and ended my other campaigns where I was a player.
But most of all, I really dread having to recruit again, then wonder if the new players will actually stick around.
@Tesservet: I am sorry that you came into the campaign so late and that it has already (for you) ended.
@Winenose: Thanks for sticking around as long as you did. I hope you take Rodolfo with you into other PbP campaigns and tell stories about that one time you spent months and months in the Underdark.
@Quasimodal: You were there from the start and I appreciate that you gave Beegred some personality. I will miss good'ol BigReed.
@ArgentTheWise: And thank you for sticking around after I mercilessly murdered your first character.
I may come back after a little break and see how the next iteration of D&D plays in PbP.
I've played some Adv. League modules, in real life and PbP. Given a dedicated group and a moderate level of posting (sometimes every other day, sometimes several times in a day), I would say it is roughly
3 weeks to 1 month posting = 1 hour at a RL table (die rolling is faster in RL, thinking about combat strategizing and role playing takes more time)
So 4 years on this campaign in the forum is still a lot of real life gaming. Thanks for the dedication, and recharge your batteries.

Thanks a lot! It was fun, although short for me! No worries on my front, It was fun playing a dex Paladin for a bit and a dwarf- different than my usual chars.
best of luck to you all and if you are in a game and need a player just reach out anytime.

Best of luck Argent! I’m willing to keep going, but if I’m the only one that’s fine too.
I’ve enjoyed the group a lot and Kerrec you’ve done a good job with the story and keeping us challenged in combat.
