If any prisoners can’t be freed with knock, thurnir offers to try smithing techniques.
He gives up on Jorlan, saying “welp- good luck to ye drow- and thanks fer the help. “. He then heads up the ramp to the sunlight, making small talk with the dwarf from his home. Looking out across the desert, he stops in the shade of the cave mouth and says.
Im all fer gettin home, but crossin this desert in the sun is probably worser than the underdark. Let’s rest a bit and figure out which way we will walk.”
After all the looting and unshackling and figuring out who goes where then Rodolfo steps a few feet up the ramp and says, "We should get going upwards. Our escape is in sight, but there is still a lot of darkness between here and there."
Rodolfo stops some 20 feet before the exit proper, letting his eyes adjust for a good long minute. He carefully moves forward and places his hand in a shaft of sunlight. Marveling at the feeling - it is at once familiar and new, like falling in love again after a long bout of tough times.
"I forgot how hairy my arms are."
He inches forward and then stops, "Oh my, oh my, I look like a filthy beggar." He cleans off some of the strands of webs still stuck on his shirt.
After a short walk outside he comes back into the mouth of the cave and proclaims, "I have no idea where we are. But I don't want to be here any more. Lets set off ... west and be away from the vicinity of the drow."
.....
As the first night comes then between the stars and a lot of remembering and arguing they figure out roughly where they are. Rodolfo makes a tiny hut for added safety, making their campsite blend in with the surrounding area.
....
At one point a few days in he says, "I'm going to head home. I've seen enough. Too much even. I'll see you all to safety first, but then I will make my way back to Telflamm. You are welcome to join, it's a lovely place at the Sea of Fallen Stars."
“Well, I’m not one fer wantin to split up- Tis dangerous up here as it is below.
methinks while we wants to be done wit the under-dark, the underdark ain’t done wit us. I’m troubled by what I seen and heard down there- I think it might be a bigger issue than we think- and might be comin fer us and surface folk sooner N’ later. Now I be knownin I’m not the smartest o’ this lot, but I’d invite ye all to come with me and Eldeth, back to Guantylgym. Me king would love to hear our tale and will provide us good counsel- mayhap even give us some reward fer what we found. Plus you ain’t eaten anythin the like o’ the feast that will be held fer us, I reckon.. “
Thurnir looks at the group, clearly wanting to keep them together.
Skameros will look over the assembled crowd in the light of day, on the surface he was not sure they would ever get to.
"Back in Grove of Shroom-men, Skameros promised to get small folk to surface...." you can see he's struggling to find the right words
He gestures around them "this surface, not sure where, but here...."
"should be safer for friends to find their family now..."
Skameros looks back at the hole they emerged from, then turns back to the party
"Skameros had family once too, they died, Skameros was so angry and young he not know what he do to them. Skameros ran and ran and ran.....and ran. Found shroom-men who made him not feel so bad. After a while, Skameros forget what he did, lived in Grove for many cycles until you showed up. Helped you get to surface, helped you return to family. Skameros now know he need to go find family and put them to rest."
"Thanks for the help in getting back to the surface. When those Drow kidnapped me and a bunch of the others, I wasn't sure if I'd ever see the sunlight again. With all the training and fighting in the Underdark, I'm better prepared to track down those stone giants that threatened my village, and take care of them. Hopefully, I can get some directions, as this is not where I started."
Before departing, he hands off the magic weapons he was using, along with the silver-inlayed treasure box holding several diamonds. "We had all these sparkles, worth so much, but no where to spend them. Now that we are back on the surface, you should be able to barter them in shops. I'll hold on to the amethyst gemstone to pay for my provisions and transport home, but the rest belongs to the group."

Thurnir thanks Begreed for the items, and says “rest assured this stuff will be put to good use. It’s been a good time travelin wit ye all, I’d still be in the depths or dead without yer help. Best o’ luck to ye and mayhap we’ll meet again!”
After a rest, Thurnir hops on his mount and he and anyone returning to Guantlygrim with him head off in that direction…
