"Well, if your going to stay the face of our group, do you mind if I act as your personal guard alongside Caesar? I could be close enough to lend a voice, but I would let you take point of course."
I nod at Jonathan in response to his proposal. " That would be nice. Caesar wouldn't mind a little help. " Caesar studies Jonathan momentarily and then looks back to me. " He is fine with it. "
“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
Seeing that the group feels the Rachel should do the talking Jorel will ask if anyone has any further questions. If not he will see you to the door and will see you tomorrow evening to take you t the council members house.
I'll make sure everyone's reminded to be at their best, we do not need a misstep here. With Thalica at my side, I'll follow Rachel as we are escorted to the meeting.
The reply message from the stronghold via messenger should be here or getting here shortly. Any word on that front?
Once back in the inn, I change to my more utilitarian clothing, armed and armoured. When the time comes, I head with who ever else to the meet with Lady Diana.

As you make it back to the Inn to plan your next step Ping is back with a message from Lord Douglas. "Please be wary when making contact with kings, Emperors or council members as the slightest misstep can prove to be doom for you and your ability to communicate as a diplomat. Watch closely to their mannerisms as that can give you clue if they seem to be getting upset or pleased by your words. As far as a way of being friendly or neutral to us and our cause I think we should wait to see what they may have in mind first. If they do offer friendship be wary of some stipulations that could be hard to meet if not impossible and the conditions they set upon us. Just remember your friend Thomas who is currently elsewhere and the issues that can be cause with one misstep or word. Otherwise I leave it in your hands to figure out what they may offer before I give any response."
You now have a choose to what your next step will be. You can go see the concil woman tonight or wate until tomorrow to meet Lady Diana. Either one may give you access to the council and the king but which one will be faster? OOC: Everyone give me a spot check except for Rachel.

As we prep for the meeting with the council woman, I'll look around at the others. "Anyone have some cotton cloth from our world on hand? Something in good condition that we could display to whomever is in charge of trade around here. I have an idea for a trade proposal. The cotton gin and machine loom revolutionized the textile industry on earth. It could do the same here, and our budding nation could earn a lot of coin by selling quality fabrics at a lower cost than anyone else, at least until everyone else catches on to the trick. I remember the basic blueprints for both, and I'm confident we can fine tune the rest of the details."
"A cloth to trade in like my plain white t-shirt I suppose. I wear it underneath my checkered long sleeve one would that suffice," He said then took it off and handing it over to Jason.
" That is a fabulous idea Jason. Could really garner a lot of influence and power for our little kingdom. I don't have anything cotton however. I was out on a little hike the day I came to this world. No cotton on me per the outdoors saying , " cotton kills. " I smile and then frown. " I miss merino wool, synthetics and so many other materials. Of course it doesn't matter as much here. With magic available we aren't going to freeze to death or anything. "
"Sorry, but I don't think anything I brought with me is cotton. At least, not 100% cotton. I was rather cheap when buying clothes." I smile at that, and continue "But if the technology is simple enough, it could be a way of processing material they might be interested in. I was never interested in much of the farming technologies, so I'm not much help with that, although I might be able to figure it out from your designs. The loom I'mm barely familiar with. What else can we offer to entice their trade that wouldn't be just a one-off knowledge? When you teach them the how-to, you've lost your market. It'd be far better to offer the processed materials and keep the method a secret. Once I get better at magic, I can probably incorporate my basic knowledge into mining or fabrication technology, but that's a future possibility."
Near the appointed time, I get dressed with the new finery again, looking sharp and hopefully stylish for the city. I stash icons in a pouch at my chest, and belt a couple of daggers at my waist.
OOC - As far as what I'm carrying, I'll go with the icons, and the magic items - Cloak, Boots, Ring, Anklet, Broach and Glove. Spells in mind will be Detect Magic and Hold Portal. I will have used the Endure Elements icon and left it behind.

I enjoy dressing up for the evening. The sea foam gown comes down to a couple of inches above my knees. Looking down at a considerable amount of cleavage showing I consider that it might not benefit me much in this meeting tonight Shrugging I smile as i enjoy the chance to dress like this and go out.
Walking along with the others, I stand a few inches taller than my normal 5'7" due to my improvised heels. " This tailor did a great job. It is so nice to be able to go out like this even if it is for business. "
I frown, "Was I the only one wearing jeans that day? Mine are back at the stronghold because they don't fit me anymore. I guess a cotton t-shirt will have to do, it's not the best example, but it's better than nothing. Go ahead and keep your shirt for now Travis, we won't be needing it for this particular meeting."
"In any case, for anyone unfamiliar with this stuff, cotton seeds grow with a ball of fluff around them. The fluff is the useful part, but getting the seeds out can be a real pain in the arse. A man named Eli Whitney invented the first cotton gin. A machine that can easily pick out those seeds, turning a job that would normally take a full day for one person to finish into a matter of minutes. The loom I mentioned offers a similar advantage in terms of rapidly turning cotton thread into consistent fabric."
"So what I was thinking is that we could set up a factory back home. It would take a bit of work, but when done we could have these guys ship us raw cotton, and then we ship back bolts of cotton cloth that their tailors can cut into whatever styles they wish. The seeds themselves we can keep, it can be high quality feed for our livestock among other things. I'm sure they will pick up on the secret sooner or later, but by then we should be rather well established and have other trade options. It would be even better if we could farm the cotton for ourselves, but I don't think we have the manpower for that at the moment."
I hesitate for a moment, "There is one potential downside that I need to mention. In our world the cotton gin ended up greatly increasing the number of slaves being put to work out in the fields. So that Americans could produce the raw cotton going into the new industry. The people around here do not seem to use slaves at all, so if we have any luck whatsoever, the local equivalent would be a bunch of people getting new paying jobs. But if there's any indication that it could go the other way, obviously that's not something we would want to contribute to."
Give me a list of who is going and who is staying behind. You do also know that your rooms do have a lock on them so your items can be locked in the room when you leave also. :)
"I had jeans on the day I arrived, but alas I left them behind at the Inn back home. I wanted to wear more of the local flare than what I had on when I got here. " I say to Jason.
I've not gone to Lady Diana house as of yet and thought best to stay at the Inn and rest up for the meeting with the council woman.
The first sun is low in the sky when Jorel shows up at the inn to escort you all to the council woman's place. Seeing that you are all dressed in your finest clothing he smiles and asks if you are ready to go. Once all indicate they are ready he will lead you back towards his place but instead of turning left onto his street he goes up another block and turns right. The street here is very wide 50 feet and runs along the castle main walls. There are guards patrolling the street in pairs as other guards watch from the castle walls. The houses across from the castle walls are large and spaced apart with low four foot walls separating them. Jorel leads you to the third house where six guards stand outside. Seeing Jorel approaching the guard become more alert. As you get up to the guards they stop you. The leader of these guards says, "You must leave weapons here at the door before entering."

I smile at the guard. " Of course. I didn't bring any weapons. Neither did Caesar. " I nod at my companion. My ape friend just looks at the guards for a moment dismissively and back at me.

OOC - See the Councilwoman tonight for sure. Why pass up a possible for another possible?
