Jack thinks twice about insulting the first person inclined to talk with them in this new town. His mother always told him to treat people with respect until they give you reason not to.
“I jest Elron, what kind of magic potions do you have, and why are you selling them in a tavern?”

Taking a mock bow, Landrae joins the conversation "My thanks for the compliment Elron, though I wager you flatter me unduly, twas but a simple tune to lighten the air. Though mayhap the time will come that the name of Landrae adorns the billets of such an establishment."
"One day, Jack, someone will actually try to sell you some if you aren't careful" Landrae smilestowards Jack before addressing Elron again, "Are you perhaps that someone Elron? It would truly make or friend here feel the stuff of legends. Tell us of the wares you carry master merchant, and perhaps we can exchange a coin or two with you."
Landrae tries to guage the moral caliber of this trader based on his responses - does he seem 'legitimate' in his behaviour and goods (Insight: 12 & Perception: 21)

Elber takes a glance at Elron and tries to recall if he's ever actually seen a fat elf before, or if he's just prejudiced in thinking that all elves are lithe and graceful. (Intelligence (History): 12)
"Well, my friends, I have no magic beans, but of magic potions I have a multitude of choices. Medicinal potions, strength potions, healing potions, love potions, or whatever potion you might desire, Elron will sell for favors, trinkets, or coin."
As he delivers this compelling sales pitch he presents each potion in turn, all the while grinning jovially.
(lol, @Twooshort.) Elves are inherently lighter than normal folk, but it is not altogether uncommon to find an overweight elf, especially if they live in the comforts of civilization.
Having decided that the potionsalesman has not been bodily enlarged by a wonky poison, Elber pays a bit more attention. "Favors, eh? You have something you need done?"
The elf leans in and lowers his voice. "My profession is unlike most others. The gist of it is this: I find myself a group of likely adventurers," Here he pauses and gestures to your party. "And the business begins. I am the eyes and ears; It is my job to find profitable quests and adventures, which you accomplish, and in return I ask only for a 20% share in any and all profit and my name to be marked with yours. It is good for publicity, you see. What do you say, friends? " He asks, throwing out his hands and continuing to smile.
Elber downs his mead while the elf makes his proposal. "One fifth among seven ((or six))? With the greater share, is the role of responsibility also yours?"
"The math certainly is in your favor if what my friend Elber says is true." Duncan says. "I'll be glad to prove myself, but will be in no debt to any man not by my side."
"Information is valuable. But the ability to act more so in my opinion. I feel that an equal share is already more than fair being able to keep your hands clean"
"That all said. I am interested in a test of my strength and to earn some coin. So tell us more if you would, my jolly friend."
The elf taps his nose. "I assure you, my friends, the information and contacts I have at my disposal is expensive and hard to come by. All things taken into consideration, 20% is no more than my due."
Landrae brushes her hair back to catch Elron's eye, then locks his gaze with hers, a cool, appraising look on her features, and a telltale wry smile catches at her mouth.
"My compatriots make valid points master broker. Duncan has confirmed that which you have correctly guessed, we are a group of such individuals with skills, talents, and inclinations towards aiding locals with whatever strife doth beseech them that may be beyond their means to resolve, in the interests of a mutually beneficial circumstance. Elber's numbers also seem sound to me friend Elron; a full fifth of any proceeds seems a steep price for merely pointing such keen individuals in the right direction and waiting for them to return. However, before we start haggling over prices, we would know more of the prospective goods. Tell us something of what you would have us set our skills upon, and we can discuss some better terms if your offer sparks some interest amongst us"
OOC @ DM: I don't know when you would want a roll in the play of dialog here, but my intention is to obviously get as much information out of Elron, and use Landrae's persuasion to generate the best deal for the group - assuming everyone agrees that we are interested in whatever quests he has to offer. So, here goes with a roll, fingers crossed it is good, and I trust you'll use it whenever appropriate...
<I'm not one for math, and am more concerned with testing my skills. But i have little respect for those who risk nothing while profiting for other's work; more so those who aren't winning to get get their hands dirty with the rest of us>
"I've not heard of orcs or goblins being particularly good swimmers Elron, so were there not bigger fish I'd be very disappointed. What fish do you speak of though, and we will see how valuable your information is."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“What else can you offer us other than taking 20%? Are your wares under market prices for your ‘partners’? Are there other benefits to this arrangement...for us I mean?” Jack is not hiding his skepticism.
As this is going on I want to take a look around to see if any one is watching over Elron. Perception:18
"Then I am glad we are not solely trading for potions, but for your information." Landrae sighs a little, losing some of the excitement from her face "Tell us plain Elron, what quest would you offer us and we can discuss terms."
The elf taps his nose again. "Ah," He says. " That's the trick. If I tell you what I know, what is to stop you from taking the information and discarding the informer? "
"You have misunderstood this situation. You are not the one selling information, you are the one buying mercenaries. You offer that we keep four fifths if we let it be known that it was all thanks to you, and to that we accept."
