She breathes a sigh of relief. Thank god, those sewers were so gross! Ling briefly sticks her hand back out the door and makes a gesture for the others to follow her, then starts sprinting towards the pile of rubble. This is going to mess up my hair, we'll have to crawl to get through there, she thinks, but then pulls herself together, but better than being acid burned by those cute but deadly things. Kinda like me - cute but deadly! She grins.
Alaris slips through into the dry tunnel alongside Ling. "You alright?" the paladin murmurs, moving up alongside as much as possible.

Walking alongside Alaris, Ling flips her hair nonchalantly and flashes Alaris a smile: "Just glad to be out of those smelly sewers!" She shrugs it off as if it is nothing and folds her hands behind her back, rubbing her thumb in her palm again. Trying to hide her restlessness, she turns and pointedly looks at the door to draw Alaris' attention away from herself.
Nikolai remains perfectly still as he watches the others slipping into the other doorway, thankful that his foolish shadowhunter companions were making their way away from the glowing insects. He will remain hidden for a few moments, watching the insects to make sure they do not become alarmed and start spraying acid everywhere.
The torbles are crawling up the sides of the trench and out of the water, searching for the source of the disturbance. Several wiggle their way towards the door Ling, Alaris and Caio have left through.
Seeing the torbles begin creeping towards the doorway the shadowhunters left, Nikolai mentally groans. 'Don't do something foolish. You're going to do something foolish...' Digging down into the infernal powers of his bloodline, Nikolai manifests a rumbling in the tunnels from around corner of the dead-end in hopes of drawing the attention of the torbles!
The rumbling noticeably excites the torbles and they swarm up out of the trench on both sides, oozing up the walls and heading along the channel towards the noise. The little ooze bugs let out many high pitched little squeaks loudly as they move, and for a moment they look like they are also heading for Nikolai. However, a few seconds later he vanishes again and they stream on past him. After half a minute or so they are all beyond the second door and almost around the corner.
Nikolai immediately makes a break for the corner and door his companions just disappeared into as quickly as he can! Once in the other room he lets out a sigh of relief as he spots the shadowhunters clambering over the rubble. "Pretty sure those things will be occupied for some time, but I suggest we make haste and get out of here quickly."
The sudden rumbling followed by the squeaking of way too many torbles had Ling freeze for a second, but as Nikolai dashes through the door, she realises it was a deliberate diversion. Not wasting any time, Ling starts across the pile of rubble in their way. She tries her best not to get any mud on herself, but it proves impossible. First sewage, now mud, great. I need a shower when we get back to the institute! She pauses and presses her thumb against her hand, painfully. And some balm, it's been too long.
Nikolai nods to Ling and the others. "What do you all say we try to avoid any more confrontations for a bit?" He eyes the rubble pile dubiously and grins at Ling. "Uh, ladies first?" He chuckles at the look she gives him, but takes a moment to center himself from the fight and mad dash through the sewers. He looks around the area to get a good look to make sure they are headed in the right direction when his eyes suddenly fall upon Ling's lithe form crossing the rubble and seem to get stuck watching her backside. Despite everything between the two of them that says nothing could ever be and the fact that she was still a child, he could feel the flood of endorphins pouring into his nervous system and he was so mesmerized by her form that he completely missed her glance back to see him openly watching her. It took him a moment to realize that her movements suddenly became more exaggerated and her caught her watching his face from the corner of her eyes. He grimaces and looks away with an apologetic shrug. 'Get your mind on task, fool. You know that is more trouble that you can fathom right now.'
"Eww eww eww - one of those things by itself is cute, but a swarm is just nasty!"Alaris chirps, following along with Caio and offering a hand to anyone struggling with the rubble.

Ling hops down from the last rocks and pats the dirt off her clothes. Nothing like a little mud wrestling to brighten Nik's day, haha. And my hair even made it through okay! She spots the door and pauses briefly. Hm, I guess it's the only way forward anyway, hu? She looks back at her friends, smiles and shrugs her shoulders, as if to say "here goes nothing!" and pushes open the door.
Nikolai looks down at his clothing with a sigh as he eyes the muddy rubble pile, but as all the young shadowhunters immediately begin to climb over he rolls his shoulders and joins them. 'We've been far dirtier than this, my boy. This is nothing you can't clean up after.' Once on the other side, he immediately draws out his deck. "Come here, all you. Even you, Julia. Won't do to have us walking around covered in muck."
Julia hops on through with animalistic grace and offers a surprisingly shy smile to Nikolai in thanks for cleaning her up.
The door opens up onto another long sewer tunnel forming a T-intersection, with an old wooden tabletop serving as an improvised bridge over the sewer channel. In the distance Ling hears a squeaky, cackle-like giggle.
Upon seeing more tunnel ahead, Caio puts up two fingers to his lips and creeps out of the door silently to take a look around. Seeing nothing of interest, he turns back to the others with a shrug.
Having just pushed the door open, Ling freezes with her foot over the threshold as she hears someone giggling. She grabs Caio, who just stepped through beside her, and pulls him back by the sleeve. Closing the door, she turns to the others and says with a flick of her hair: "Thank you for that makeover Nik, you know how I hate getting dirty in the literal sense." She winks. "I'm afraid there is some bad news behind this door, twice so. I think it's our only way forward, and if I just heard right, someone giggled." Ling stares at Nikolai, a mix of her flirty bravado and real concern: "Fairies?!"
"That might have been me, darling," Alaris drawls when Ling mentions the giggling she heard. "You two are just so adorable!" After a pause and another smirk -- "What do we know about dealing with faeries? I assume you don't mean the glitter-and-lip-gloss kind?"

Caio looks a bit irked at being yanked back, but listens as Ling explains what she heard. "They're... tricksy. Like any other people you can find good ones and bad ones, but generally they're manipulative and capricious. Oh also, they can't tell lies but they'll find any way around the truth." Caio also turns to Nikolai. "You might be the best at negotiating with them, Nikolai."
