Jorin puts his hand on the door. He leans in with enough pressure to keep the door from closing, but not to force it open. (Athletics if needed: 19)
"We have come to you because you spoke with the bard, and he seems at the center of this. We have also spoken to Marigold Butterleaf and Bitter-Blossom, so you are not unique in receiving our attention this morning."
He stops closing the door, and eyeballs Jorin. "What did Rooster say? He tried making a complaint about me? Was he saying that I am that other Regis? I'm a dwarf, not a halfling!
"As for those other two... I wouldn't trust what Marigold has to say. Anyone that is that chipper has something to hide. Or something to sell. Either way, I’d steer clear of her. The locals say that she’s into ‘gentle necromancy’ and that she’s trying to promote the restless dead as a positive thing... y’ask me, she’s about as nutty as a walnut tree.
"For Bitter-Blossom, you should leave her alone. She is troubled enough as it is."

Quillary's face clouds over at Regis' speech. "We're all headed to the same end, dragging the past with you does not make the trip last longer, just more difficult."
Blinking the darkness away, and noting that Hildi's interest might be a ploy for the party's benefit, she tries to help. "And, um, I might be interested in a, uh... a watering can, if you have one."
Now that you are near him, Regis smells strongly of old, wet tobacco leaves and has just about as many teeth as he has fingers. (And he is missing a finger on his left hand.) He is a dour figure, preferring to dress in blacks and greys and has a tangled, greasy mat of hair that looks like one big, nasty combover. His shop is tiny but stuffed full of used equipment and gear, from scroll cases to weapons and suits of armor. He is wearing a large pin on his shirt, the symbol of the Zhentarim faction. (In case you need a reminder, use this link for a brief overview. The faction has great power in Waterdeep.)
There are only six books out in the open, but if Hildigrim has a specific request, he can check his storage to see if he has it. And seeing Hildigrim's wand, he offers to sell a 1st-level spell scroll (Hildigrim can choose the spell) for 75 GP. (OOC: That is a fair price.) He also offers to sell a Greater Healing Potion for 225 GP. (OOC: That is way, way overpriced. But he can see that the party has been in a few fights this night.)
He opens up a cupboard, revealing 4 watering cans of different styles. (Quillary does have that special potted plant from Llyneth the druid.)
Looking twice at Pascal, Regis pulls out a wooden box with a half dozen horse brushes. "Unless you had other hair in mind."

Indeed, that is what she had in mind. She will make a show of looking at the watering cans, once she gets over her surprise that he has any watering cans, much less 4 different ones.

Pascal picks out a medium quality horse brush, not the finest one and not the piece of garbage. 1 SP for this one.
Most of the watering cans Quillary sees are fine quality, 2 SP to buy... The fanciest one is 1 GP, and has intricate silver and copper work. As she is examine the smith-ship, she notices an area at the base that was heavily buffed. With her keen eye, there is still a trace of a personalized inscription that used to be visible on the watering can (although she can't make out what it used to say)..

"I, too, am distrustful of the necromancer, " Jorin says with a nod, "What was this project you worked on with Bitter-Blossom? She mentioned it in passing when we spoke to her."
"Perhaps twice the price would jog your memory?" she holds up two gold pieces.
"Sometimes peace of mind is worth more than gold. Well, okay, not very often, but in this case... Rest assured, it was lawfully purchased by me, so no troubles will come when you buy it."
(For Jorin's question, I am assuming that Hildigrim will buy a scroll. Nothing like a 75 GP sale to loosen lips.)
"Look, we worked together for some Lords’ Alliance stuff way back when. Me, ‘Blossom, her sister ‘Root, and some kooky elf mage by the name of Fulton Stormweather. Our patron, this really intense Shou woman, wanted discretion but this was a couple years back... We were to infiltrate a Zhentarim trade caravan headed east to Hulburg. Along the way we were supposed to grab an amulet and a spellbook and leave some fakes in their place, but the job went sideways. Turns out that the caravan was moving some Red Wizard of Thay and his entourage. Bitter-Root snagged the necklace before taking a nasty spell to the face. She disappeared with a pop and we didn’t see her again after that. ‘Blossom searched for her for awhile but never found her, so she returned here and has just been playing at being alive ever since.
"It’s a shame, really.” (He tries to shrug like it is a matter of no great importance, but you can see the genuine concern on his face.)

"Maybe someone is trying to bring back, or find, Blossom's sister, and the sudden flock of ghosts plaguing the town is the result...?" Jorin wonders, "Botched sorcery, perhaps."
OOC: OK, I removed 40 gp from my inventory. Between Quillary and Drusk, you can decide who loans what.
Hildigrim looks close to tears as 35 gold is pressed into his hands from Drusk and Quillary. "Thank you, friends." He looks over the scrolls and then picks up one. "I'll choose this one," he says, handing the gold to Regis.
After Regis answers Jorin's question, Hildigrim smiles at the dwarf. "I couldn't help but notice your pin," the halfling says. "The Zhents have a large presence in Waterdeep, where I am from. In fact, there's quite a scuffle going on there now between the Zhents and another group which is rumored to be lead by a beholder. You mentioned that you used to work with the Lords' Alliance. What caused you to change factions?"
(OOC: Which spell did Hildigrim take? Don't have to decide right away, mention it eventually, as I am curious. And it will still take the standard costs and time to transfer from the scroll to your spell book.)
"Never was a Lords' Alliance. They were the ones hiring free-lancers for some tasks to be done. And that wasn't the only "easy" job that went sour. Walking away from those bozos seemed the right thing to do. Zhents know what they are doing around here.
"Didn't help that LA laddies kept talking like I was that other Regis. That’s my great-uncle, six times removed on my mother’s side. He ran around with that dark elf for awhile and really has his own legacy. If anyone believes that I’m related to a halfling, I have a summer home in Thay to sell you."
(OOC: If you are like me, and didn't understand all these Regis references, I'm guessing they meant this character: link )
After Hildigrim picked a scroll, Regis takes it aside to polish the end first to remove a stain. ("Don't mind the small amount of blood. It didn't affect the writing.") As the scroll is being returned, Regis looks at Hildigrim's hand. "Where'd ya get that mark on your arm? Yeah, I’ve seen that before. The goofy bard had a similar mark on his hand earlier today. That like a family mark or something?"

Quillary will carelessly hand Hildi 20 gp. (I have deducted it from her sheet.) She will also turn back o the watering cans, disappointed that her can apparently holds no good secrets regarding its origin. She'll take a small wooden urn-like watering container instead, and pretend to look at it with interest while listening to the conversation.
