OK, I misunderstood what Mingo was posting before, but I think I get it now. Is it too late for Hildi to give in to what the lizard was trying to do and ride it (using the rope) down the river on the ceiling?
OOC > I figure if my pantomime was confusing to you, then it was confusing to the party. It’s cool. Q was trying to split the party and come at the kuo-toa from two directions, but it looks like we just circumvented them? I’m inclined to go with it as it played out. 🙂

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
Hildigrim finally acts like he understands what Quillary is trying to do just as the lizard gives up and follows Jorin and Drusk down the hallway. The halfling considers calling out to her, but decides it would be more prudent to keep quiet. He makes a mental note to apologize for being so hard-headed later. He hurries to catch up with the others.
The cavern is kind-of peanut shaped: 140' north-south, 50' at widest and 30' at narrowest. (Your passage is enters the northern "bulb" of the peanut from the east, just above the halfway point.)
The sounds of chirping and clacking against stone echo through the cavern, making the location of the noise-makers difficult to pinpoint. But there are clearly more than one.
Everyone roll for Initiative. :-)
DM rolls: 84

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
To keep initiative simple, there will be 4 groups that act in this order:
Hildigrim, Drusk
enemy group A
Jorin, Quillary, Pascal
enemy group B
Drusk will use his action to try to see what is making all those clicking/clacking noises. The shield he got from Hyll gives him advantage on Perception checks!
Perception: 6 (LOL!!) Can't tell what is out there.

At the edge of where the light illuminates, Hildigrim sees movement of a larger-than-humanoid creature: a Hook Horror. (link to thumbnail image) Hildigrim quietly passes this information to the rest of the party. This one is at the side of the party closest to Hildigrim. It clacks a claw against the rocks in a deliberate rhythmic pattern, and in response there is more clicking from elsewhere in the cave. (Communication, but at an animal level.) The creature holds its position.
(Hildigrim doesn't think it senses him. But when he shifts his weight to get a slightly better viewpoint, it seems to draw the creatures attention. After Hildi freezes again, the creature stops looking in his general vicinity.)
The clicking, clacking, and occasional hooting are around the party, and seem to be getting louder. But for now, nothing appears to be entering where your light illuminates.
Jorin, Pascal, and Quillary are up.

Quillary-lizard is going to back up, slowly, until she is back with the party, then will drop the Wild Shape. "Not much was going to be useful about that, given that they seem comfortable on the ceiling and walls," she whispers. "Do we try to sneak through, or do we fight?"
Move: back to the party Bonus Action: drop Wild Shape Action: talky talk

Jorin was eyeing up the distance between him and the monster, just about to charge in before Quillary spoke. "I say we fight, my blades are thirsty and it seems to be on to us."
Move: None
Action: Hold attack action until a hostile creature enters his reach
(OOC: JcAndD has been active/logging in, but hasn't posted since March. I'll continue forward for now.)
The clacking and hooting echoing around the party is getting louder. But best you can tell, it isn't getting closer, and the number of creatures (although unknown) hasn't changed.
You are waiting for them to make a move. They seem to be waiting for you to make a move.

Jorin would have been happy to let Hildi cowboy his way along the ceiling if we want to do that lol
