The Dwarf looks at Jorin, perplexed. "Well, the master smiths are located in the Trades Ward... I am afraid we are unable to recommend one above another, given our position as the Blackstaff's representatives. But, perhaps you could ask a member of the City Watch for directions? Outside?"
"In the meantime, I will be sure to send this note posthaste to the Blackstaff's attention. Thank you again, citizen."

The North Ward is not Hildi's home ground, as it were. Think of it as Upper Middle class. Not that Hildi wouldn't fit in, just that every Ward provides some of everything (master smiths notwithstanding) and he would not have had much reason to explore the North Ward. He is not aware of a brewery in that area.

(All right! I'm back, and I have developed a plan for this sandbox/character development/annoyingly vague Chapter 2! Onwards!)
tl;dr: The three amigos make their way to the Trades Ward to a smith Jorin knows, to secure the armor he wants, and a promise of a place to work on his present for Pascal.
The three amigos make their way east past the Halls of Justice to Bazaar Street, which travels east along the south side of the great Market. The Market is five blocks long, two blocks deep, ringed by businesses but basically a huge open-air plaza crammed with stalls, people, animals, children, merchants, noisy and smelly. Hildigrim and Jorin have definitely been to it before, probably many times, it is The Market, after all. Drusk will certainly have been at least once, in his explorations of the city.
As you approach the end of the Market, you pass one of the Living Statues, the Great Drunkard. He looms 40 feet in the air, sitting in the middle of a block of houses south of Bazaar Street. "This walking statue stopped its rampage as it approached the Market, then fell backward and sat upon a building. When it settled, its arms fell limp at its sides and its head tilted forward onto its chest, giving the impression that it had fallen asleep. The statue’s huge stone battleaxe still stands nearby, its haft angled upright and its blade half buried in the cobbles. The rubble of the crushed building was long ago rebuilt into a broad stone stair (with railings and a ramp that drunkards are often rolled down) that ascends from the cobbles to the statue’s lap. That lap now holds a two-story tavern also built from the rubble, called Gralkyn’s Tankard. The unconscious pose of the statue and the tavern in its lap made the name of the Great Drunkard a natural fit."
You can get to Graklyn's Tankard from Bazaar Street, as a way has been opened up into the middle of the block where he sits. Jorin has definitely been here before. Giant drunk guy? Giant battle axe? For sure.
As you continue, Jorin knows exactly where he wants to go. (Bit of a retcon, but my brain is working better now.) In his years in Waterdeep, he has leveraged his master craftsmanship into a relationship with several of the smithies in town. You are headed to Rankin's Brassworks, a general smithy run by a dwarf, Artur Jewels, in the Trades Ward.
When you arrive (we can role-play any side trips, if you want), the dwarf, a hefty-set figure with grey hair and a forked, braided beard, greets Jorin warmly.
"If'n it isn't my barbarian friend from the north! Come for some more of my special grease to ward of the salt water?"

OoC - i freakin' love Waterdeep. Putting a tavern in the lap of a giant, once-marauding-but-not-dormant statue is so cool.
As the group passes Gralkyn’s Tankard, Jorin looks up and points it out to his friends, "We should stop in for a gulp on our way back through. That is a wonderful place!"
When they arrive at the smithy, Jorin grasps Artur's hand in a firm, yet jovial, handshake, "Hello, Artur, it is good to see you. I am in need of a couple things." He starts to take off his chain mail and says, "I would like to get rid of this and get something a little lighter (a chain shirt or breast plate if there was any way for Jorin to afford one)" he pauses and laughs, "I do not know why I have been wearing it all day."

Drusk says, "If you don't mind, I'd like to get a head start. Why don't you two go ahead to the smithy, and return here when you are done? I'll buy the first round."

As Drusk is talking to the dwarf, Hildigrim is being nosy and looking at everything he can in a polite, out-in-the-open kind of way.
Although Drusk is over at Gralkyn’s Tankard, he gets a sneaking suspicion that Jorin is imitating his voice while talking to a dwarf at Rankin's Brassworks... Not a good imitation, mind you.

OOC > I have stickies on my office door at the heights of all the characters I play, just to remember how big they are... maybe something like that? :)
Drusk dips in to Gralkyn's Tankard for a moment, and has a brief discussion with the barkeep, than an earnest one with the tavern owner. Meanwhile, Jorin talks up the brilliance of the architecture with Hildi.
The group moves on to the Brassworks, where Jorin engages the smith in conversation. They work out a deal (which we will handle in PM), and the group is ready for the next part of the day.
