On the main door, which you reach by climbing some stairs to a front porch, is a sign on which is written, "Property Haunted. Public advised to stay away, or contact nearest Watch Post for assistance." It has an official stamp of the City. The windows on the main door have been cleaned.
Coming into the place, the entry turns left and opens into the common room, past the bar on the right (see map below).
The place is disheveled, but you smell some sort of tasty soup in the air.
While Pascal seems to have made some headway on the windows, the common room is dirty, broken dishes and crockery are stacked haphazardly along one wall, and most of the furniture is in disrepair, some of it destined for kindling only. It looks like someone has been trying to organize the junk.
Still, the bones of the place look good. There are several windows along the front, the common room is large, and features a central fireplace you can walk all the way round. It looks like it could hold 25 guests at seats (restaurant configuration), or more if you brought in benches (tavern configuration) or if people stood (party configuration).
The bar features a trapdoor in the floor (presumably to a cellar), and behind it an open pantry that leads to the kitchen.
Important Notes:
This is a tavern, not an inn. There are no stairs leading from here to any upstairs floor. There are stairs outside, accessible from Sauerdoun Street on the north side, and presumably those rooms could be used as an inn (but you haven't been upstairs), or maybe a longer-term boarding house, or maybe for the owners (you guys).
As you enter, looking about, and Pascal greets you, a wooden spoon rises from the bar and starts tapping nervously on the surface.

Hildigrim immediately turns to look at the spoon. "Hainard's hairy toes!" he says excitedly. He begins "sneaking" up on the spoon to inspect it more closely.
To Pascal (completely deadpan to the sign and spoon): "Have you noticed anything unusual about this place?
"Have you been to the upper floors? And you made soup? I didn't think that particular recipe was known, outside of the elf villages. Your culinary skill is quite impressive."

Pascal strokes his chin, “Hmm. Well, me an’ Lif have been pretty focused on gettin’ a menu started. Besides the health code violations, haven’t noticed too much.” Then, regarding the soup, “Ah, that I did, courtesy of our fine friend, Lif. He’s got quite the talent for recipes. Ain’t that right, Lif!”

"But Pascal..." (Pauses, tries to think of how to say this without hurting Pascal's feelings.) "Lif isn't haunting this place... Technically, yes. Ilena walks over to the floating rag and cautiously holds her hand out in greeting, looking very uncomfortable. "Uh... greetings er... Lif was it? I'm Ilena, and that's Jorin, and over there is Hildigrim, and you've already met Drusk and Pascal. Do you know anything about cooking perch?"
As the spoon slows and stops, Hildigrim carefully picks it up and examines it curiously. Then, as the rag begins washing the window, he repeats, "Hairnard's hairy toes!" Finally, when Pascal explains his amiable relationship with the "spirit," the halfling grins, making him look all the more youthful. "Hainard's hairy toes," he almost whispers. He watches Pascal and Drusk, then turns to watch Ilena greet the ghost. Turning back to the boys, he nods. "Our tusked friend is right, Pascal. Unless you've assuaged 'Lif' and turned him from a former habit of more proper haunting, there must be something or things here as well. Have you asked Lif if he is not the only haunt in residence?" Without waiting for an answer, Hildigrim turns back toward the window and shouts, "Are you the only haunt in residence?!" as if the creature must be deaf as well as dead.
Pascal makes a very “eeeeeeeh” grimace and glances at a few broken plate as the others discuss the spirit, “Yeah, Lif wasn’t too happy ‘bout us moving in. However, me an’ him managed to come to an amicable agreement, ain’t that right, buddy?”
When the spoon starts tapping the bar top, Jorin draws a battleaxe, bears his teeth, and then spits on the floor. As Pascal is explaining things, his posture softens slightly, and the axe goes back to his belt, but he still has a bit of a snarl on his face.
"This...Lif...he is, a spirit? Not some foul witchery?" Jorin eyes Pascal, "If you say he's ok, and as long as he keeps distance from me, we should be good." Jorin sniffs the air, "That soup does smell pretty amazing, I'll give him that."

A moment later, one of Pascal's pots floats out from the kitchen and lands on the bar, in a manner much like it is being carried by someone. Then a few spoons are gathered from about the place, and remain hovering in the air behind the bar. The pot smells of the soup Drusk called Blackbark Stew.
