Kestrell follows behind Silver.
"I'd heard of them, but never seen one either, Kes. Travelling with you fine folks is leading to lots of interesting firsts. Might make for an interesting sonnet one day. Some working titles might be - Finding Floon? Waterdeep Down? Dude, Where Did I Leave My Floon?"

[OOC] Vassa will cast prestidigitation three times, once hidden to create the illusory rose, and twice openly with a smile, to create the puff of wind and create the odor of the rose.
sleight of hand check to see how well the bard can 'pluck' the rose from behind Asa's ear: 9
At the familiar smell of the rose and the Gazer being dead, Asariel slowly stands up still shaking slightly and embraces Vassa 14 perception for the rose
Vassa does a passable job of illusioning up the rose, but Asariel's experience with magic allows her to see how the trick was performed.
Silver carefully searches the area around the hatch but find nothing. Carefully he lifts the hatch and looks out into what appears to be a cellar. Above you can hear lots of noise. As you focus on it, you're finally able to make sense of it all. There's a tavern above you. You're in the cellar of a tavern.
Silver just shuts the hatch quietly "Unless we are trying to go into a Tavern that doesn't seem the way - though it could be. I wouldn't recommend coming up from the sewer."

'Vassa is genuinely surprised that the hatch leads up into a tavern... but then the half-drow recalls that the Shattered Dragon tavern was owned by the Zhentarim. So if one gang owned one tavern, why not another? Not really desiring an aimless trudge through the filthy sewers, the bard says,'
"While it does seem a litle odd, the last tavern we visited was owned by the Zhentarim, so why couldn't this one be run by Xanathar's Guild? It seems feasible, at least.
Raener, do you think you might know what tavern this is? Kes, maybe you kept track of all those twists and turns - I hear you forest types are good with direction.
Regardless, unless you have another location below in mind or know how to interpret those markings on the tunnel walls, we'd just be wandering around clueless, Silver. Better to be clueless in a dry tavern with a tankard in hand than in the sewers with the crap and rats. For as my old nan used to say, 'Nothin' like a drink to help you think'."
[OOC] Vassa will try to help Raener or Kestrell deduce where they've come up and using the bard's knowledge of drinking holes try to figure out which tavern's basement they're in.

Int check to see what Raener knows (with adv thanks to Vassa): 16
Raener tries to think where about in town they would be. East of where they entered? What taverns are in that area?
"I'm not 100% but I'd say we're in the area of a few places. Shipmasters' Hall, which is an inn rather than tavern not that there's much difference on the ground floor. Or the Spouting Fish. It's basically across the street from the other. But Xanathar's known for operating in the sewers. Do you think they'd have Floon topside?

'Vassa sighs in exasperation, not entirely sure either way, but clearly trying to formulate a plan of action on the fly. Shaking his head in mounting frustration, the bard slaps one gloved hand near the markings on the sewer wall and says,'
"You're probably right - the sewers seem more likely. But why post that gazer here then? Coincidence?
There are two tunnels that we haven't explored yet and we... I mean, Floon, may be running out of time. If only one of us could read those markings. Aenio, Raener, Asa... with my or Silver's help, do you think that you might be able to decipher their meaning?
That Kenku seemed certain that they would show us the way, and I see no reason for him to have lied. Did anyone search around at the intersection - maybe there's something that we're missing?"
[OOC] Vassa is going to help and encourage one of his more intelligent companions to try to decipher the wall markings to see if they might not point to the Xanathar hide-out - preferably Asa since she has bardic inspiration.
Vassa is also going to help Kestrell or someone else perceptive to search the area around the intersection.

As Asariel and Kestrell start discussing what they know and what they've seen. Vassa pipes up to offer help. Suddenly it dawns on them that they're over complicating it. There's two paths to choose from and only one has a symbol next to it. Silver has been leading them down the path nearest the symbol. So the only meaning is simply, "Go this direction."

The party continues down the tunnel and notice that about 20 feet ahead it expands into a circular hub with a pair of arrow slits carved into its outer walls, directly across from each other. Two passages continue one to the north and and one to the south. A stone door is set into the back wall of a stone ledge to the west.
[OCC] Let's confirm marching order and roll initiatives.

Silver just moves to the front and holds up his hand"Let me check it out first - ensure no traps and if there are disable them for you all." He begins to walks forward inspecting for traps or a pressure plate that might release something from the slits"Or get attacked first and you all come to my rescue."
As Silver carefully scouts the area he finds no traps. When he neared the arrow slits he heard snoring, whomever was suppose to be on watch appears to be sleeping. Scouting the tunnel North failed to turn up anything, but in the South tunnel Silver finds a secret door.

'Watching Silver glance down both ends of the corridor without seeming alarmed, Vassa will creep up to the other half-drow's side with the others to discuss what to do next. Then, seeing the nearby arrow slit to the South, Vassa will carefully peep around the edge to try and see what's beyond the narrow opening?'

He then sneaks to the secret door and looks for how to open it.
Silver slowly starts to run his hands around the outside of the door but doesn't find any sort of mechanism to unlatch the door. Then he starts to run his hands down the door itself and feels it move. Surprised and a little confused, Silver pushes on the door and it opens into a small tunnel. From what you can see, the tunnel opens into a room in 15 to 20 feet.

Silver looks back to the group and motions towards him and then enters the room slowly - intent on trying to scope out any threats that may be there before the party gets to the door. He draws his dagger and short sword in case he might need them.

'Unable to see anything beyond the arrow slit, Vassa notices Silver locate and open the secret door. Moving with the rest of the party to follow with loaded crossbow in hand, the bard will leave enough space for their stealthy guide to scout in peace, planning to keep the light stepping figure in sight though in case he needs aid. However, upon reaching the doorway Vassa sees neither hide nor hair of Silver, but cautiously enters the corridor anyway, the singer's violet eyes anxiously sweeping the walls and floors around them as he whispers to Kestrell,'
"Where the **** did he go? Watch the corners and shadows... you see anything, Kes?"
