Th dragon swoops down into a hail of arrows and a javelin, none of which pierce its tough scale armor. Tock's staff hits the dragon with a magical bolt that creates an instant sphere of darkness on the dragon's head. It is enough to disorient the dragon for a moment as it flies through and it rears back, it's wings wide as it catches itself. It opts to set down on the ground and roars at the party. Gentoa, inside the carriage, begins to cry.
(sorry, the general scuttlebutt is that Darkness cannot stick to creatures or worn items! You now have a hand sphere of darkness hanging about 75 feet off the ground.)
The dragon whirls around, exposing Dog to the fireball blast and he cannot dodge away from it in time. Additionally, the explosion pummels the two rear horses, Ironfoot and Pirate Parley, killing them both instantly. (Dog takes 28 damage, Stones takes 14 damage.)
Stones manages to recover from the blast enough to send an atonal insult to the dragon's ears. WIS(14) check: 19 The dragon manages to resist the psychic attack, writhing in pain but remaining in place.
Meanwhile, Keyrie makes her way to the two horses hitched to the carriage, Cherry Charm and Canterbury, trying to explain how Gash can get them away if they will trust him. Both horses shake their heads up and down in agreement, wide eyed at the sounds of battle behind them and unaware that two of their kind have just perished.
Bulwark enters a Frenzy, allowing him to make an attack as a Bonus Action. He’ll then use all his movement and take the dash action to get into melee with the dragon, taking a swing with his warhammer.
Bulwark charges forward, overheating with a biomechanicalmagical rage that others would later swear made him glow slightly. His warhammer smashes down on the side of the dragon's head with a hearty thud.
The dragon stands, spreading it's wings. (DEX(14) check for Dog or he falls off: 19) "Pesky ants," the dragon says in a low rumble. "You bite more than the others. The natural order is for you to run and me to eat you. Learn your place!"
The dragon roars, bearing fangs as long as swords. Wisps of poisonous gas waft from its nostrils and its wings stretch wide, giving it the appearance of a dragon three times its actual size.
Frightful Presence. Each creature of the dragon's choice that is within 120 feet of the dragon and aware of it must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the dragon's Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours.
Gentoa begins wailing inside the carriage, cowering below one of the bench seats. Canterbury, tethered to the carriage and Cherry Charm begins bucking, though Cherry Charm remarkably keeps her cool, not letting Canterbury bolt. The two new draft horses snort and stamp their feet but they also do not panic at the dragon's display.
Dog, feeling the rumble of the roar under his own hands and feet feels panic grip him, as do the other three closest combatants: Myon, whose ears go back and cowers to the ground, Stones, and Bulwark. Gash, Tock, and Keyrie see through the bluster.
(FYI, there is a Grease patch behind the dragon now. I forgot to put it down.)
Everyone may take their round 3 turn in any order.
Bulwark lands a powerful blow with his warhammer on the dragon's shoulder, causing a few green scales to crack. His second attack is more feeble and merely bounces off of the dragon's armor. (he gets to reroll a 1, right?)
