Keyrie hears Bazza mutter to himself as she approaches the tree. "Why isn't the tent on fire yet?" He is broken from his reverie as she calls his attention to Jonda. "You don't have a leash?" he says. He nervously approaches the big cat after she shakes her head. "Ask her to lay down in the shade here."
Animal handling: 11
The old cat does as she is asked and Bazza sits with her, calmly stroking her dark fur.
Confusion seems to reign in the tent as well as Q'wai's mind; the monk freezes momentarily, uncertain of what would constitute the wisest course of action. At last, he darts through the tear in the tent to join Tock in pulling the wagon.
Tyrol dashes in the direction of the stream with the pot in hand—it seems so small compared to the size of the building fire, but he doesn't know what else to do. Nothing for it but to keep crashing through the trees in the hopes that the water isn't much farther now, and that Tock is able to keep up behind him.
Dash action toward the stream, which is probably about all I can do. That's about 60 feet away from the tent, then? Sure would've been nice if I'd prepared expeditious retreat, haha... oh well!
(Example: Tyrol gets 5 dashes, or 150 feet. This puts him about 460 feet away from the creek. Making a DC 10 CON check allows Tyrol to dash farther, but a failure means gaining a level of exhaustion. 5 levels of exhaustion and Tyrol collapses, and maybe even needs several days to recover...)
(I am assuming that Tock and Q'wai will continue to run, pulling the wagon together. Here is the state of things after round 6. If you want to just run, that's all you need to say, or I will assume it after everyone else has posted. If you want to put a little more oomph into your sprint, make a CON check. Tyrol is 40 feet off of the map towards the creek.
Kruk hefts the barrel, which is as big as he is, into his arms and starts waddling around the tent as fast as he can manage, stopping occasionally to reset his grip. The unicorn, meanwhile, looks on with intense curiosity, but doesn't seem too concerned by the events going on.
Q'wai:
As Q'wai pulls the cart past the unicorn, he hears the feminine voice in his head again in elvish. "You are a curious lot. This tent appears to be quite important to you all. I may never understand you humanoids."
Dog's head bursts out of the tear in the tent and sees zero people, and a unicorn. Their eyes meet for a split second.
He tilts his head, and the unicorn mirrors the huge goliath. "Pretty... horsie?" The fiends, the fire, possibly losing friends: Doggear has lost the ability to even.
"Nope! Can't. Won't." He turns back to the tent -- the fire seemingly preferable to figuring out whether the unicorn's an arsonist, where everyone else went, whether the circus has always had a unicorn and he just didn't notice it, or something else more farfetched -- and considers the fire, inside but not alighting the tent just yet. He freezes and drops the trough. He remembers that the nearest water source is a ways away and now that he sees the fire spreading, he thinks there's no time for water. He wishes he knew magic that could create water out of thin air, but since he doesn't, a thought pops into his head. Could he just let the remaining chairs and benches burn up, and keep the fire from getting to the tent?
There's signs of a battle inside the arena and some of the ropes have snapped, and it might just be possible to cut some ropes holding the canvas up to drop it, and then between the longsword and FeyTok's greataxe, chopping a strut or three down prevent the fire from burning all of the tents down. "FeyTok! I have a terrible idea. What if we cut rigging to drop the canvass so the fire can't spread to everything?"
Investigation to see if this looks mechanically feasible based on knowledge of how the tent goes up and down 19
Nature19 to see if it's windy enough outside that exposing the fire to the outside would fan the flames, doing more harm than good
(Doggear, like everyone in the crew, has helped set up and take down the tent hundreds of times. He is intimately familiar with how the tent is brought down. In this case, the nine anchor lines can either be cut or the stakes pulled up, either with a lever of some kind, STR check - DC 8, or with bare hands, STR check - DC 13. The main concern is the tent pole in the center of the arena, which has become engulfed in flames. Dropping the tent flat is otherwise an easy task.)
Tock, glad for the help from Q'wai, keeps pushing.. or rather pulling with all his strength. Dashing as well and if the oomph would help then here is the CON check: 18
Keyrie walks towards the tent calling out after Wei Wei, if she can easily grab the cage big enough for the Flying Monkey then she will but otherwise she will continue into the burning tent to follow after Wei Wei. Seeing how big the fire is she gets worried and calls out to the frighting Flying Monkey hoping to calm it down this time. "Wei Wei come here, its dangerous. Jonda and Bazza are waiting for you outside."
Keyrie runs into the arena side of the tent to find the fire well underway, consuming more than half of the sawdust, benches, barriers, and the main tent pole. Curiously, the tent itself has not caught on fire yet but it has blackened, both with smoke and genuine burns. The flames have clearly not spread to the tent itself, though. Smoke has filled the tent, making it hard to spot Wei Wei, who is darting back and forth in a panic. Keyrie's words capture Wei Wei's attention, and the flying monkey darts at her, but her panic takes hold again and she bounces off of Keyrie at high speed (damage: 2). Feytok continues to work on his fire break as the fire creeps forward, dangerously close to where he is working.
Meanwhile, Tyrol is more than halfway to the creek (220 feet to the creek) and Tock and Q'wai are hot on his heels (395 feet to the creek). Kruk lugs his barrel slowly but surely toward the creek as well, but has not yet left the camp site.
The unicorn begins to walk around the site, examining the fallen fiends and studying the humanoid's camp. She clearly has little experience with humanoids.
Dog tries to drop the parts of the tent canvas most threatened by the fire, hoping they slide down the poles, away from the fire to the safety of the ground outside, and making it harder for the rest of the structure to go up in flames. Using the longsword to cut as many lines as he can (Strength 24), and with any kind of success, turning his attention to the central pole. "FeyTok! I'm doing the terrible idea!"
(Is the freak area connected to the main area or just beside? If connected can I try and help drop the tent and just cut it, sacrifice half to save half.)
(Also I have fire resistance so I should be able to tolerate working closer than the others)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Wei Wei attempts to squirm free from Keyrie. DEX: 18 However, she has a firm grip and the flying monkey is unable to get away. Wei Wei scratches at Keyrie but it isn't enough and Wei Wei is secured into the carrying cage, after which they exit the burning tent through the tear.
Scratch Attack: 6 Damage: 3
Outside, Keyrie sees the unicorn is still hanging around the circus, inspecting the body of one of the wretches felled earlier. It turns and looks at Keyrie over its shoulder, then turns around fully.
Keyrie:
In her mind she hears a feminine voice say in elvish, "Oh, a flying monkey. You are rescuing the animals from the fire! Bravo."
The unicorn doesn't seem to be addressing Keyrie specifically, so much as just commenting on what she is seeing.
Q'wai and Tock continue their charge towards the creek, passing the halfway point (245 feet to the creek). Tyrol is within 40 feet now and anticipating filling his stew pot with water. Kruk manages to heft his barrel along a bit farther, with 460 feet still to go to the creek.
Inside the tent, Feytok's fire break is doing its job, protecting the entryway into the other half the tent and he is almost halfway across the arena. Small flames lick at the tent now, sometimes igniting and the going out as flames lick through holes in the canvas. Outside the tent, Dog cuts four of the 9 lines and the northeast corner of the tent collapses toward the middle, pushing a wave of hot smoke through the tear that Keyrie then runs through with Wei Wei.
(Tock will continue doing his utmost until they get back with water or something else happens. As in I'll keep reading, but won't post until there is a reason to, in like 5-6 rounds)
Keyrielooks wide eyed at the unicorn, she does not remember much from when she lived with her own people, but the folk tales that the village elder would tell them as they sat under the night sky always stuck with her. She bows her head slightly as she speaks to the unicorn in Celestial.
"What is such a noble creature like you doing here? Is there something we can help you with?" She glances back at the tent and the smoke billowing from it for a moment. "We are a little busy right now, but after this is handled if there is anything I can do just tell me and I will do it to the best of my ability."
