X, Linene goes over to a rack and comes back with a large, plain round wooden shield and a some standard dark brown leather armour. Ten gold for the shield, ten for the armour, twenty total, she says. We've better - studded leather - for forty-five gold pieces if you want.
(You can check the stats for different armours in the basic rules)
Kylara, as Linene puts the shield and armour on the counter, she turns to you. Good day to you. A dagger is two gold. She reaches below the counter and pulls up a small tray, which she sets down in front of you. There are five standard daggers, all very similar. I have to keep them down here, she adds. The local boys always want to 'borrow' them.
I do not have the funds for such studded armor at the moment unless you'd be willing to lower the price. If not, the leather armor and shield will be enough.
I will take the smaller dagger thank you. I pay the 2 gold and walk back the inn to catch back up with Soron after I complete one last thing... When I enter the door, I spot the barkeeper and I ask What are the chances of me getting a room for the night in your establishment? Also may I enquire about someone named Freda, and purchasing a pitcher of wine to be brought to my room later if it is available? As she pets Odinn and he pecks her neck.
Kylara, you take the dagger and leave the shop, heading back along the street towards the inn you saw earlier.
As you enter, you see a pleasant tavern common room, with a few people seated around. You see a pair of halfling women sitting together at a table near the door, a human woman sitting near the hearth chatting to another who is standing holding a pair of glasses; this one might be a member of staff. A group of men, human, half-elven and one dwarf, sit at a third table, and there are perhaps three unoccupied tables. Please make an Investigation check.
Kylara, you notice that there is a man standing, not behind the bar, but off to one side, holding a cloth. You guess that he might be the innkeeper. Do you want to talk to him?
yes, I spot someone I believe is the innkeeper and I ask Are you the owner of this inn sir?
If he is, proceed here What are the chances of me getting a room for the night? Also may I enquire about someone named Freda, and purchasing a pitcher of wine to be brought to my room later if it is available?
If he is not, proceed here Can you direct me to the owner? I have some business to discuss.
Soron, you enter the common room of the inn and speak to the man standing behind the bar. Greetings, sir. I am the proprietor, Toblen Stonehill. Welcome to the Stonehill Inn. He is a young human man, short and appears to be very friendly. Well, we don't have a huge variety. I can get you a bottle of fine wine for ten gold pieces - you want the bottle, right? Or individual glasses? The cheapest we have is regular ale, that's what most folk are drinking. He waves around the room. That will cost you four copper a mug, or two silver for a gallon.
As you are speaking, Kylara enters and comes up to the innkeeper. Yes, yes, I am. Toblen Stonehill, pleased to meet you. Welcome to my inn. Goodness, two newcomers on the same day, did you travel together? How were the roads? They say it's becoming dangerous to venture out of town these days. Freda? Do you know Freda? She's right over there, and he turns and indicates the woman who is chatting to the server. Freda, you know this lady? Freda shakes her head, and resumes her conversation.
So, well, a room is five silver pieces for the night; we've six rooms altogether - erm, how many of you are there?
A pitcher of regular wine - not the fine stuff, you understand - will cost two silver pieces.
The innkeeper seems a little taken aback by the barrage of questions, but is responding in a good natured manner. And might I enquire who you both are? And what brings you to our fair town?
We came here to deliver some mining supplies , we are five in total , and the roads were not safe at all, we got ambushed by goblins about half a day form here.
And i'd like a glass of your finest wine and after i finish that, a mug of regular ale. (ooc potential conversation topic)
Oh, and one more thing, if you do not mind me asking were do you get your finest beverages? and if that's asking to much could you at least tell me if this wine that i ordered is of a particular brand? (in case that there are more brands considered "the finest" Soron will ask for a recommendation)
(OOC: for the sake of brevity, can we say I just find out the room is 5 silver?)
Nope.
A large, scary-looking Goliath walks into the common room.
X, there is silence immediately; all the townsfolk stop talking, and look over at you apprehensively. The innkeeper, standing talking to Kylara and Soron, freezes and watches you.
Soron, the innkeeper graps a tankard from the bar and starts polishing it as he continues the conversation with you and Kylara. A glass of fine wine, and a mug of ale. That's two gold and two copper, please. If you pay, he produces the wine from a bottle under the counter. This comes from Waterdeep; a local brewer name of Yellowridge. It's good stuff; a trader comes by in the autumn on the water to Triboar, sells me a few bottles. Not much call for it here, but every now and then some miner strikes it lucky and comes to celebrate. You can see that the bottle has 'Yellowridge' stamped into the glass.
Demetrio walks into the inn. He see’s X,kylara and Soron standing by the bar and walks over to them.
x, stop scaring all these fine folk.
Sorry about my friend he doesn’t mean anyone harm. Well atleast not anyone here. Anyways are you the inn keeper? I would like to buy a few rooms for my friends. Just one night each and that will be 5 rooms we need. Thanks and let me know what I owe you. That elf with the books right here will pay you.
Demetrio waits a second
ehh I’m just playin I will pay for all 5 rooms. What do I owe you. By the way our fifth friend a half orc that goes by the name steinarr well be around shortly, can you let him know his room is paid for.
X, the room seems a little settled by your words, though the loud chatter of before is replaced by whispers and worried glances. The innkeeper steps over and introduces himself as Toblen Stonehill. As Demetrio approaches and speaks, he seems visibly relieved. Ah, yes. Of course. Goodness me, what an interesting group. Well, welcome to you both, sirs.
As he relaxes, the mood in the room also improves, and people stop staring at X quite so much.
Five rooms? That will be five silvers each, so two gold and five silver in total. Splendid, splendid. He takes your coin, and for those of you who wish, he shows you to your rooms immediately. Steinarr, is it? Well, it won't be much trouble to recognise him, there's no half-orcs in this town save for him, so he'll stand out almost as much as your Goliath friend there.
The innkeeper goes about his business. You can choose to sleep immediately, gather in the common room to speak together or to the locals, or explore the town further. There's only perhaps an hour or two left until sunset.

I look at the armor for a second then remember the money I have on me
Upon further thought, the shield will be enough. The armor will slow me down.
I give Linene the money for the shield and take the shield
X, Linene takes the money, hands over the shield, and returns the leather armour to the rack.
(X) I nod, take the shield, and exit the store

(ooc. please do not narrate for Odinn)
Before Kylara arrives at the inn, i speak with the barkeeper. I ask what his name is , and what are the cheapest and most expensive drinks he has.

Nope.

Who owns this place? I need a room for the night.
I look around at everyone
I mean you no harm. You would be aware if I did.
