Abner fails to find anything of use or value within the confines of the ship. It appears that the wreck was stripped before it fully sunk, and the only valuables were those that the crew were unable to scavenge from the seabed. Yaro finds much the same as he passes the top of the protruding deck, and the two swim to the shore using the safety line.
The sharks don't bother anybody further, and seemed interested only in defending their territory.

"Hmm. Abner and Captain Ebbok say we look for town. Maybe I help? To finding human and gnoll foot-marks is like to finding deer foot-marks." The orc lowers his face to the dirt and begins stumping around in wide, careful arcs around the party.
OOC:
Zagrot will use his knowledge in survival to try to find any tracks, weathered ruts, or faded foot trails that may lead us to something interesting where people might have traveled repeatedly in the past, particularly from this wrecked ship.
If Zagrot is able to find evidence of past movement, that is obviously best, but otherwise:
I suppose I propose the highlands on the southwest corner - they are pretty close, and might afford a good view of the island. Someone must have gone there once, surely, as it is too obvious a feature to ignore. Maybe we could see some features the birdfolk did not report.

Zagrot's search yields little result. It appears that the winds or the tides have cleaned the beach free of tracks that can be followed.
After a quick respite, the group of you decide to continue following the southern edge of the island towards the rocky promontory to the southwest. As the band of you approach, you can tell that the rocky outcrop rises abruptly from the sea, forming a two-tiered plateau with a peak 100 ft. high, the entirety of which looks like no small feat to scale. The first tier of the plateau appears to be roughly 40 ft. high, which inclines sharply for a further 30 ft. before the final sheer 30 ft. stretch of climb to reach the summit.
Sure enough, successfully climbing to the top would afford an excellent view of the island. Zagrot, Red, Yaro and Therne can all spot the flock of stunning red birds circling and roosting at the topmost point of the rocky point.
Red, Therne and Zagrot:
The three of you, each being knowledgeable with the natural world, recognise the birds as blood hawks - birds with a wingspan as long as a man, and a mean temper.
[OoC]: Therne can add blood hawk to her list of known forms.
*Let's see how much we can see from the lower or the middle tier before we risk the highest,* Therne says. *Unless someone has climbing gear or is especially skilled. I could transform into a giant spider after all, and should be able to reach the summit without issue, but I would have to rest afterwards for a bit to recover my energies if we want to make further use of my transformation abilities today.*
I left my rope there as well. I have a grappling hook and a few climbing pitons, which could make things easier, if a rope is available. I am not thrilled about thoseblood hawks though. Still, nothing ventured... The speed of a spider might help us avoid some attacks and we can find you an hour to recover, I am sure, Sister.

The tortle pauses briefly, considering options.
"I think it might be prudent for Therne to scout as a spider if she is feeling up to it. We should be able to avoid additional conflict if we are able to get a good lay of the land."
Zagrot cranes his head back to consider the escarpment. He looks to Yaro. "Climb is easy, I think. Is two climbs. If fall, only half-hurt." He sheds his shield and pack, digging into the latter to produce a coil of hempen rope. He holds it towards the tortle. "Two ropes good for two climbs, I think. We can to tie two ropes for making one rope."

"At first rocks-top, I drop rope and I hold for other-landers to follow. Then I climb to other rocks-top, and I hold rope again."

Just out of curiosity, Mojake: is there anything preventing us from walking around to the other side of the promontory to ascend the more gentle, probably grassy slope? LOL

I worry, Sister, that if we split up, and one set of us finds trouble, the other set could do nothing to help. One or a couple ought to lead and lay a safety line for the followers, but let us keep safety in numbers.

"Perhaps we all move up to the first plateau, and allow the more experienced climbers to ascend the more difficult sections, if necessary. This will allow us to stay in closer contact and not completely outside the range of help."
