For one reason or another, you all find yourselves in the city of Neverwinter. Some of you have traveled far, others... started nearby. Nevertheless, the city of Neverwinter is well known across the realms, being almost as famous as Waterdeep, though for different reasons. The oil lamps, and lanterns light the streets of a full-mooned night sky. The moon haloed by soft, white clouds. Those clouds, producing hundreds of tiny versions of themselves, small, white flakes dance unerringly until they reach the ground. The ground is covered in glistening snow, ever padded by more as the minutes pass by. The night air is particularly chilly, making most people wear an extra layer over their normal clothing to keep warm. Despite the chill and the time, Neverwinter was as busy as usual. Shopkeepers warm in their buildings, still selling wares for another hour or so before even they would turn in for the night.
The snow was ankle deep, making walking a bit difficult, and soaking the shoes of whoever stayed outside for too long. News has been going around town, that a Dwarf, by the name of Gundren Rockseeker has called for swift aid, and is offering twenty gold pieces per head to assist him in his urgent business - This, and that he would be meeting all-comers who wished to assist him to meet at the local tavern, the Broken Crown Inn, one of the finer establishments within the city, and to meet him in the reserved back room by speaking to the Barmaid at the front, and to await him there.
Within the Inn itself was a fairly large bar-room, though the weather kept most of the patrons that would usually frequent the establishment in their homes, a few patrons could be seen within. In one corner, a ranger, in a black cloak, with the hood covering his face could be seen. he seemed to be watching the other patrons, for one reason or another, but ultimately kept to himself. He was clearly human, nursing a cup of middling ale. At the bar itself, was a Gnome and a Goliath, playing a game of Dice, seemingly in some sort of betting competition even as they ate their meals. It seemed the gnome was winning almost every game, giggling with mirth. Surprisingly, the Goliath was taking it in stride. Lastly, was the Barmaid. A young, beautiful Elf-Maid, who couldn't be over one hundred years old smiled as she did her work, cleaning the glasses with Prestidigitation, making even the worst quality mugs, and dishes shine immaculately.
(OOC - Use this time to explain how your character got here, how they specifically heard about this job offer, why they're doing it, what they do when they get here, what NPC's they interact with, etc. Feel free to Roleplay with eachother. If you wish to play dice with the Goliath, and the Gnome, roll 3 seperate d20's, no modifiers unless you have 'dice' as part of your character sheet, then you may add your proficiency modifier. Minimum bet is 5 gold. Each d20 is a 'round' and whoever gets the most, highest total rolls, wins whatever is in the pool. An example: Gnome 1-12 2- 1 3- 20 Goliath 1- 5 2- 7 3- 19 The gnome won the first and last round, but lost the second, meaning the Gnome won. since he won 2 of 3.)

For some time now, Herman had been going from town to town and doing any jobs he can find. These jobs were far from anything resembling mercenary work. The jobs he would usually do mostly involved working as extra security in a tavern, helping to move loads or unload things from ships and caravans. He was mostly hired labor. He would spend his earning on ale, elvish if could get some for cheap, a bit of gambling but nothing too high stakes and food and lodgings. Whenever jobs in a town hit a dry spell and he had saved up some gold, he would move to another town where there may be more jobs for him. It is for that reason he had come to Neverwinter. He lived cheaply in a flop house for a silver (Poor Lifestyle). He would frequent a few of the cheaper taverns in town for ale.
It was during one of his jobs in Neverwinter where he heard from other hired labor about Gundren Rockseeker. His temporary colleague was saying how much he'd love to have 20 gold but was worried that the job might involve danger. Still, he was conflicted on whether or not he should be going to the Broken Crown Inn. Herman however, was less conflicted. He had saved up about 10 gold (mechanically gained from Soldier background) to that point and had still had some armor and weapons in his possession. Not being a stranger to combat and 20 gold being a lot when compared to how much he usually makes a day, he decided to go to the Broken Crown Inn.
The inn was in a different part of Neverwinter from his lodgings but that didn't really matter to Herman. He soon found himself at the gates of the tavern. As always, he is wearing a helmet that covers his eyes and protects his head. The only part of his head that is not protected by the helmet is his nose and the lower part of his face. That part is covered by a green cloth. that extends down to wrap over the neck as well. His grey armor sits like a vest on his body. Beneath the armor is think green protective clothing that covers his entire torso and his arms. His hands are covered by dark green gloves. He wears a brown leather belt with a gilded buckle. The golden paint has started to come off from the metal buckle. He wears dark green pants and metal boots that protect his knee and his shin. Strapped to his back is a backpack with a longbow on one side and a quiver of arrows on another. Upon further observation it appears that his backpack had been modified at some point to allow for him to retrieve his bow from his pack and knock an arrow to it in a moments notice. His full attire hides all his physical features except the fact that he is male and is 5ft 10 inches tall.
Herman enters the Broken Crown Inn and stands at the door for a few seconds, his eyes scanning the room from behind his visor. His eyes fell on the hooded ranger. Herman being cautious to the point of near paranoia, decides to keep an eye on the figure. He will slowly and casually take his bow in one hand but not any arrows. With the bow in hand he will walk to the barmaid in as non threateningly as possible and take a seat if there is one. He will ask her, "You got Elvish ale? How much for it? What about common ale?". After getting a mug (what he buys will depend on the price of ale), he will walk over to the table with the goliath and the gnome and say, "Room for one more?" He will place 5 gp as a bet and roll dice. During the entire interaction he will keep an eye on the Ranger. He is ready for it if the hooded figure decides to attack anyone.
Cirrus actually knew of Gundren before this mission. How mother is a masterful seamstress, she is the one who made the wedding dress Gundren wife wore on their wedding day (an impressive feat, considering dwarves are the harshest judges of craftsmanship), Cirrus helped stitch some of the frills on it, too. When he set out on his mission to find his father, his first destination was the biggest city he knew about: Neverwinter. (OOC, this next part is a little confusing, but I'm just not sure what's )
If there is no Neverwinter Library or it doesn't have many details about the planar system:
Upon arriving in Neverwinter, Cirrus was sorely disappointed to find that Neverwinter did not hold the answers he sought after. Upset, directionless, and no closer to finding his father, Cirrus consulted whatever passed for academics in Neverwinter on where the information he was looking for might be found (he has the researcher feature form his sage background, so that's likely to work). He was informed that his best bet was a large town that was many days travel from Neverwinter, and thus Cirrus found himself in dire need of coin.
If the Neverwinter Library has a lot of information that would interest Cirrus:
Cirrus arrived in Neverwinter late in the evening, planning to find the library in the morning, staying a night at the Broken Crown.
Previously, he had heard some roughneck telling his armor clad associate about a job that Gundren Rockseeker was in desperate need of help with. Cirrus, recognizing the name, was eager to see him, to see if he remembered Cirrus, to hear him praise his mother's work, and to help someone who sounded like he was in dire straits.
Cirrus Fujin, a gaunt man with light blue skin and long, flowing white hair, and eyes the same purple as a late evening sunset, enters the Broken Crown, surveys the mostly empty area, and begins fretting over the long ostentatious coat he is wearing (one of the two costumes that his mother made him). The coat is designed to look like the sky at all different times of day: at the shoulders is is pale blue with fake clouds embroidered in the coat, it then fades into orange and purple, like a sunset, then at the bottom it turns dark blue, with pearls laced into the coat to make look like stars against a night sky. However, this beauty of this coat is somewhat diminished as Cirrus discovers that the hem of his favorite garment was dragging on the snow, and now it is soaked. Cirrus scans the handful of patrons, taking special note of the elven barmaid. He approaches the bar and takes off his coat, saying to her, "Excuse me ma'am, my favorite cloak has been soaked by the snow outside. I noticed your impressive skill in the arcane arts, and I was hoping you would be able to help me, what do you say?"

The last three weeks hadn't been as he had expected or wished for. Though he had never been directly spoken to with curses or angry voices, Gulari had found that few were willing to offer him a chance to prove himself, and employment of any kind had seemed difficult to acquire. Fortunately, the docks were always in need of labour and those willing to break their back doing it, so he had spent the last several days lifting, hauling and straining to get cargoes from every port in the North unloaded. At the end of long hard day's work, Gulari had waited patiently in line to collect his meagre earnings and holding out his hand he heard "Good work, you've a strong back; if you're looking for something that'll earn ye a little more there's a fella by the name of Rockseeker looking for solid Blades outta the Broken Crown Inn. I hope that helps" Gulari's eye widened and a beaming smile crossed his face, and he grasped the pursers hands in his own giant ones shaking them hard "Thank you! You're too kind, How can I repa...." The purser shakes him off uncomfortably. "Alright lad, move along now!"
Gulari's breath fogged into the cold night air, as he strode the last few steps towards the tavern that he hoped would be his final destination in this unpleasant city. He pushed the door aside, and let the warmth wash over him - though he could endure and cope with the colds of the highest mountains there was always solace and enjoyment in the heat and crackle of a fire. The common room seemed much like others he had visited in Neverwinter, and the few patrons within seemed to pay him little attention at his entrance. The sight of another of his kind however caught his own curiosity, and he stepped in to see the hilarity in the difference of height between the Goliath, then the human and finally the Gnome whose form stretched as best he could to reach the table.
Gulari reached to his belt, and tossed down the bag of wages he had received only a few hours before. "I'm in, if you're take coin in dragons?"

"Oh, and anyone know a fellow by the name of Rockseeker?"
Behind his helmet out of view from anyone else at the table Herman moved his eyes but not his head to look at the new goliath that had just arrived and mentioned Rockseeker. He makes a mental note to talk to the goliath after the game was over. None of these things going on behind the dark shadow of his headgear can be seen from outside. He also heard a voice saying something about a wet cloak. He mentally dismisses that as not his problem and continues to stay alert on both the game and the movements of the ranger.
(OOC: I don't really expect anything to come off Herman's alertness in the current situation beyond RP flavor. I'm going with his passive perception of 14 but will make a roll if asked to)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As Herman enters, the few folk inside the Inn cast casual glances, before going about their business (22) except the ranger, who almost preternaturally notices Hermans' eyes on him, like a physical force. His eyes locked to Hermans,' mutually watching him in turn, though making no overt actions aside from this. Watching even as Hermans' gaze breaks, momentarily to address the Elven Barmaid, his eyes still locked when Herman's gaze returned. The ranger seemed to be studying him, as he nursed another long sip from his own ale, and dropping the empty lager, before dragging the next, and last one, on his table to his lips.
As Herman approached the Barmaid (14) she could tell his drawn weapon was less than a threat, and her initial nervousa faded into a warm summer smile, making her face shine like the moonlight against her platinum hair. Her yellowed eyes met with the ranger as he made his request(s) and told him Ah, we do in-fact have such ale! Though it's more akin to wine.... A-Anyway, for the Elvish, it's five silvers goodsir. For the more common meads, it is two silvers. And if your pocket is stretched thin, we have some watered down slog, for nine coppers! her smile still lingering even as Herman made his choice, pouring it, and handing him the cleanest mug that Herman had ever seen (so far.)
As the man left to go, mug in hand, joining the Goliath and the Gnome, they smiled coyly together Another sucker has come to wittle his gold away! the Gnome said. The Goliath smirking in reply Is that meant to imply I, am a sucker? tension lingered in the air for only a moment, before they both burst out in a small fit of laughter, as they patted the chair next to them, inviting Herman to join them, their comments before, in obvious jest.
Both of them set down their own bets, and rolled for chance
Go - 1- 17 2- 15 3- 12 Gn - 1- 16 2- 5 3- 18
Each player winning one round, thus, forcing a tie-breaker. Each rolling a single die, the highest number, becoming the winner of the 15 GP jackpot.
Go - 12 Gn - 9
As Cirrus made his way into town earlier, while he was met with a very immense lack of a true library, there was a House of Knowledge within the city limits, luckily close by to this very inn. It was open at all hours, to any patrons who sought it's knowledge. Though there were more monks, and scholars available during the middling of the day, than this hour. As Cirrus made his way into the Inn, distraught over his 'glorious' coat being marred by seepage, approached the Elven Maid, who beamed at him, taking in the coat, with a mix of uncertainty and admiration.. it was definitely something that caught the eye! At his request, she would pout a bit, saying Mmmn... Well my boss doesn't like me to provide any service for free.... I can do it if you can part with two-silvers? And is that all you require? No ale, mead, wine? Perhaps some food? with that, here eyelashes bat just a bit as she waits for the mans reply (Persuasion: 21 Vs Insight if you wish to contest!)
Not overly long after that, Gulari entered the Inn, wet, sopping steps echoing against the crackle of the fire, the sheer size of his foot being the cause as it pressed against the waxed wood of the well-crafted floor. The ranger kept an eye on this newcomer for a moment, before a Trio of Halflings entered the Inn as well, all of whom were fumbling about and looking around, more confused than anything, one of them fumbling around with a ring, as they all attempted to shake off the frigidity of the cold from their bare feet. The ranger's eyes immediately fell on them....
The Goliath and the Gnome both took in Gulari's form, offering him a smile as he approached, but asking him to wait until the outcome of the current round was determined, though they would allow his current dice to be what he keeps as his rolls, unless he wished to reroll with everyone. To his question, however, the Goliath replies Oh, indeed we do. He regulars this establishment. Though he has yet to come in, at-least insofar as I have witnessed. Perhaps he is simply running late, or.. making sure to allow the maximum time possible for interested parties to coalesce? the Goliaths words were .. eloquent, despite his earlier joking. He was likely a mage, or scholar of some sort. Both looking to the Halflings that had entered as they bumbled about, until the Ranger himself stood, bolt upright. There you are! Theives, you will return that ring! You know not the power it holds! the Trio looking panicked, like they had just walked into a trap, began to bolt out, one of them disappearing entirely from visibility as the ranger took chase.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(OOC: Herman would have bought Elvish ale for 5 SP. I adjusted his gold to 9 GP 5 SP. I am also a bit confused about the dice game but I think Herman should roll again for the tie-breaker? I have added a part of the RP in a spoiler for if Harman had to roll in the tie-breaker.)
Herman, in spite of locking eyes with the Ranger for most of the time since he had arrived, was still a bit surprised by the sudden shift in the Ranger's attitude. This surprise is evident from Herman suddenly standing up and watching as the Ranger ran off after the halflings, though even now his head gear conceals any facial expression. Herman mentally files the Ranger's incident as "Not his problem" and sits back down. He pulls his green cloth down a bit and takes a sip of his Elvish ale, revealing very pale skin. At least this narrows down the man's race to be either human or elvish or some mix of both. He lets out a satisfied "Ahhh" as he removes the mug from his lips and places it back on the table. He pulls up the cloth again and turns to face the others at his table. "Haven't had elvish ale in a while. Feels good."
If Herman is to roll again for the tie breaker:
Herman says, "Sorry to keep you waiting. Got a bit startled by what just happened." He rolls the dice for a chance at the 15 gp prize:
The Goliath chuckles as he wins the round. Ha ha ha! Indubitable! My luck has finally turned around. I've made back all my losses for the night! his smirk spreads as he smirks at the other Goliath Still wish to try your luck dear friend? If so we will allow you to keep your previous rolls, or you may roll again, with everyone else! Though that Business with the ranger... I am curious as to how such an event came to unfold, and what destiny may have to say about their lives? The Goliath pats herman on the shoulder, softly, saying You were just the luck I needed friend! This Gnome has been raking in my earnings all night, until you tipped the balance. The Goliaths hand slides down Hermans arm, palm closed..until it reached the rangers hand, opening and dropping 3 GP into his hand.
Oh fuzzynuts, ah well. I can't possibly win them all, can I! Heheeee hua hoo.. But yes. Another round or do you tire of gambling? But yes friend we take all currency, as long as it equals five gold.. or more.
If you both wish to continue gambling, another 5 GP. Roll same as before.
Go - 1-16 2- 3 3 - 8 Gn - 1- 15 2- 14 3- 15
((Gulari, may keep his old rolls or roll again.))
To explain this .. each number is a round. 1, 2, 3. Each game lasts 3 rounds. Whoever has the most total wins (Highest number of that round) wins the pot. In this case, you each won, once, each, leading to a tiebreaker, which is a single round.
Herman looks at his 3 gp and puts it with the rest of his gold. He turns to the well-spoken goliath and says, "It does seem this win was just what you needed to get back losses." Taking another big sip of his ale and pulling the cloth back to cover his face, Herman looks at the door again and continues, "It's not everyday you see a sight like that. Though curiosity killed the cat they say and I am happier sitting here and drinking in the warm than sticking my nose into other people's business." Herman stands up and says to the rest of the table, "Well, as much as I'd like to play again, gold doesn't grow on trees and I think it's best if I cut my losses early." He takes another gulp of his drink and faces to look at the new goliath, "You're here for Rockseeker too eh? Guess we better sit around and wait for him. If he doesn't show up before my ale is finished, I'll get up and ask the barmaid. Would've headed there anyway to get a refill."
Vimak made his way down out of the Spine of the World, walking first to the town of Mirabar, then taking the Blackford Road. A day from Luskan, he encountered a small dwarvish caravan hauling ore. He held one of their wagons and its contents aloft while they repaired its axel and they hired him as a guard. The caravan grew as it came closer to Neverwinter, dwarves and others joining it. By the time it reached the city, he and they knew his protection was probably no longer necessary. The dwarves quickly met friends of theirs who live in Neverwinter. Vimak watched them talk and get reacquainted.
Arnskull, the dwarf who'd paid him along the way, told Vimak he'd done good work for them. He gave Vimak a 5 gold piece bonus. Arnskull had just heard he had a distant cousin in town by the name of Gundren Rockseeker. He'd be looking for workers at an inn called the Broken Crown, Arnskull said. The dwarves had been good to work for, the pay constant, the food good but in very small portions. He had been slightly hungry since Luskin.
Vimak makes his way to the Broken Crown. He remembers to duck on his way in. No reason to headbutt every building in the city. The inn is hot inside, but he is relieved to see other Goliaths. No one he knows, however.
His stomach growling, he sits at the bar, shield and ax close, and asks the barmaid for three shepherd's pies, two flagons of ale, a rack of goat, and a bowl of her freshest peas. "Gundren Rockseeker," he says, "has reserved a room here? I'm hoping to meet with him." And then, a fork in each hand, Vimak eats.
(OOC, I don't think I can beat a persuasion roll that high!)
Cirrus, utterly transfixed by the barmaid's charms and friendly attitude, says "two silver sounds more than fair, madame. As for drink, I am fond of a good glass of wine, but I have never had elvish ale, so I will take a cup of that. As for food, I will have...whatever you recommend." Cirrus places 4 silver on the counter (2 for the coat, 2 for the ale), plus whatever the cost of the food will be (when that arrives, just tell me what it is and how much it costs so I can subtract it). The talk of Gundren caught Cirrus' attention and he began to speak with the crowd forming around the goliath and gnome. "Oh! Are you-" he is suddenly cut off by the ranger's shouting and the halflings' darting out of the establishment.
"...Well...that...certainly happened... Anyway! Are both of you here about the job Gundren has? I heard that he was in dire need of help on an urgent mission, and I would be remiss if I didn't help the family of one of my mother's favorite clients."
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
==Still wish to try your luck dear friend? If so we will allow you to keep your previous rolls, or you may roll again, with everyone else! ==
"Aye, yes I will still play... but with new rolls I think." Gulari drags another chair across and takes a seat at the table. "I can do better than before I think, I'll roll again".
1st roll: 21 2nd roll: 18 3rd roll: 17
=="Though that Business with the ranger... I am curious as to how such an event came to unfold, and what destiny may have to say about their lives?==
"Thieves should get their comeuppance, but I am not the law. I will leave others to be curious as to what is happening away from this table.... now, more rolling less talking."
The elfs eyebrows both perked up, thinking to herself Well well.. it certainly is getting lively all of a sudden, but that's to be expected! then smiling brightly once more, in hopes of getting more funds flowing through her proprietors hands, meaning more earnings for her! She nods as the man makes his list of requests, telling him The food will cost an additional silver and five coppers on top of what you've already put down. Now.. let me see to that coat... she would say as she makes her way around the bar itself, grabbing the hem of the coat, and holding it all within a small space beneath her arm, her elbow softly touching Cirrus chest in the process, as she once again casts her spell, and within a moment, it was as if it had never been effected by anything at all. After-which, she let the cloak go, and returned to her post, gettign the mans requested items to him before his attention became focused on the other patrons.
Just as she finishes with Cirrus, she offers him a final smile and wink, before addressing the new male, who seemed quite hungry.... A-ah.. yessier.. one moment, that5 much food will require a little extra time.. And the total will come out to... one gold piece. It'll be out momentarily! And yes, he should be here very soon.... And your food is ready sir... Here you go! the elf let out a sigh, normally when it started to get this busy, someone would come out to help her, but it didn't appear there were any others on duty tonight. Though as for the reserved room, if you wish to wait there instead, it's in the corner, the Privada. Pointing towards the far-rear corner of the well lit room, to a human-sized door, leading to a small, circular, room with a round table in the center, set up much like hookah room, but without the hookah itself.
The gnome and Goliath smile as Gulari says he's in for atleast one round. Someone was going to leave the table, just a bit richer... Aye! That sounds fair, and we did say you could, but oh, such good rolls.... they say as they watch each of your dice fall....
Go 1- 16 2- 20 3- 12 Gn 1- 1 2- 20 3- 20
Go Round 2-Reroll - 12 Gn Round 2 Reroll - 16
They both frown.. they had both gotten perfect twenties! only to lose their lead due to a need to make sure someone won that round. They both push over the 15 gold towards Gulari, smiling even as they do, before saying There you go, enjoy it! Perhaps we can convince you to risk it ag-
Just as the Gnome is about to finish his sentence, a sturdy looking dwarf casually makes his way into the room. Covered head to toe in battle-plate, twin pickaxes at his side, that seemed to be crafted of dwarven steel, and engraved with dwarven runes, silvered tips. The platemail was a vibrant white, interlaced with gold filigree, and at the collar, was a fitted diamond. Atop his head was a circlet, with an impure sapphire. His beard, and hair, both the color of lava, interlaced orange-black across his freckled face. Just behind him was a tall, middle-aged human. Golden blonde hair, cut short. Ice-blue eyes, and a greatsword of black and silver, strapped to his back, the sword was of simple looking design, but the edge seemed.. sharper somehow, inexplicably so, as if another blade coming into contact would be sheared in half. His armor was similar to Gundrens, though none of you knew who he was, yet.
Ach! Allo all. Me name be Gundren Rockseeker, alike most o' ye 'ave already 'eard o' me? Well, whoever all is here for me requested job, follow me to the Privada, we 'ave a little to discuss, and time is o' the essence, moreso now than ever. This is me partner, Sildar. Good lad, a bit young. But aye, let all who wish to aid me, join me now, or forever forfeit yer twenty gold! Gundren would then make his way towards the Privada, walking like he owned the place, but in a respectful sort of way. Sildar casually following behind, as he took everyone in the room in, sizing them up. His features softened when he saw the elf maid, a fatherly smile crossing his features before it settled back into stoicism.

Cirrus takes the coat and holds it up, marveling, "Wow! It looks perfect! Thank you so much, allow me to introduce myself, I am Cirrus Fujin, I've come here seeking knowledge, and the coin that it demands. And might I ask your name?"(He gets the name, I assume)"Ah, {her name}, a beautiful name indeed."
I'm gonna make an insight check to see if the barmaid is interested in me, just being friendly, or if she's just trying to make me feel good so I'll spend more money. 16
After Gundren makes his announcement, Cirrus, having finished the food the elf woman delivered to him, took whatever was left of his elvish ale, and followed The dwarf and the human into the Privada, but not before giving a final "Thank you for your service" to the barmaid.

Herman had just finished his ale as Rockseeker arrived. As much as he loved ale, he knew getting drunk before a job is one of the stupidest things he could do so he leaves the empty mug at the bartender's table and heads off to the Privada while putting his bow back on his backpack.
Vimak stands, arches his back, and rubs his belly. It is good to feel full again. He puts a piece of gold and one of silver on the bar next to his several empty plates. Taking up his shield and ax, he follows Gundren and Sildar.
Gulari's dice clatter as they hit the table, and his beaming smile crosses his face once more if but for a moment. The smirky gnome looks up at him, pulling his hand away to reveal two twenty's showing face up on his second and third dice. "Just the sort of luck I've been having in this city" he mutters, his smile wrenching into a twisted grimace. Until that is he spies the gnome's visage aghast. His eye's follow across the table to the where the Goliath's hand has now raised upwards, and his second die also show the maximal number!
"Ha! What a day..." he cries as his fellow competitors launch their dice rumbling across the table. As they settle and the result becomes clear, his smile returns full of genuine pleasure as he savours the small victory. The gnome slides his winning's towards him.
"There you go, enjoy it! Perhaps we can convince you to risk it ag-...." "Ach! Allo all. Me name be Gundren Rockseeker,...."
"Not today I'm afraid, that's my signal as you well know. Better luck for the future, gentlefolk"And with that Gulari stands and strides happily towards the privada.
ooc: What's a privada - I'm inferring from context some sort of private booth/room; I've just not heard the term before. Could we get a description?
The gnome nods, and the Goliath chuckles saying Aye, you go do what you need to do. I'll see if I can keep my winning streak up... to which the Gnome replies HA! the only thing you have 'up' on me is height! they offer you one final nod before the sound of dice once again echoes softly in the room, and exclamations of joy or distress follow suit. The barmaid smiles, telling you her name Is Luneth. It's been a pleasure to serve you sir. Please come back again! ((OOC - Unfortunately its always a choice between using your passive or rolling in an attempt to get higher number, otherwise all undesired outcomes pertaining to investigations, perception and insight could just be negated by saying "well then I use my passive instead," making it moot and making all dc10 or lower checks, passable, all the time by those three skills :/ ))
Cirrus was so caught up in her sweet words, her silken voice, and her moon-like features, he was convinced she fancied him quite a bit.
A privada is essentially a walled 'room' version of the above displayed image. Though instead of loose chairs, it has a 'bench' along the walls with a small table in the center.
In the Privada
Gundren grunts as everyone follows before him and Sildar both take seats at the closest side of the table to the 'head' you could get. As the group walk in, Gundren continues to wait in utter silence for another two full minutes. It seems ye are th' only ones tae answer the call. Ye all look relatively capable, though you.. he says, looking at the Aasimar .. C'mon then, stop gaping in awe, ye havnae reason to be such. Anyways, t' Business. As ye'r all aware, I'm seeking people fer job, o' urgency. Sildar and I were going to be doing this ourselves but... new infermation came up that changed our plans. We need ye tae escort our supplies to Phandalin, as we have discovered something of great import.. something lost tae the races of Dwarves, Men, and more more than half a millenia ago. I cannot say more on that subject, but it requires myself, and Sildar to leave immediately, tonight, or we may be too late tae act on this discovery. Hopefully, what I've told ye is enough to depart the import of our mission, despite the mundane nature of the request. it's why we've offered a months pay. Which will be payed upon delivery to Barthens Provisions in Phandelin, by the proprietor.
Gundren then takes a moment to catch his breath. Ruffle through his thick, red-orange beard, letting his words sink in, but starting again before anyone had a chance to reply; SO.... Is anyone havin' second guesses? Dinnae feel this is worth it? etc and so forth? If not, and yer still willin' tae do it. I need you all to leave no later than midday tomorrow. Sildar and I will be leaving immediately after this meeting is adjourned. The cart containing our supplies is in the stables of this establishment. All supplies have already been loaded.. part of the reason Sildar and I were so late tonight. All you have tae do is hitch the horses, and move out heading south along the road towards Leilon. About a day out, there will be a fork in the road, to the east, that leads tae Phandalin. It'll take another half day from there to reach yer destination. After that, deliver the goods, receive yer pay, and do what ye will. Agreed?
Anyone may roll a DC 15 Perception (hearing) check. If you pass...
You hear the soft shuffling of feet from near the doorway behind you that seems to be moving away, towards the entrance of the Inn.
Cirrus reaches a lanky arm across the table at Gundren, "Personally, I would be more than happy to help someone like yourself who is in need of such aid. Allow me to introduce myself: I am Cirrus Fujin, son of Claribelle; proprietor of the Clear Bell Boutique. My mother made your wife's wedding dress." (I imagine Gundren would be confused by this statement, if his wife even mentioned anything, she would have said that her dress was made by a human, and this guy if definitely not human)"My good sir, forgive me if I am speaking out of turn, but if the cart is already fully stocked, and the two of your are eager to go now, why don't all of us set out for Phandalin at the same time?"

Chapter 1: Seeking Help!
Occassional Dungeon Master.
Rolls for Dice: 1 - 2 2 - 20 3 - 8

I'm going with his passive perception of 14 but will make a roll if asked to)
As Herman enters, the few folk inside the Inn cast casual glances, before going about their business (22) except the ranger, who almost preternaturally notices Hermans' eyes on him, like a physical force.

4
Occassional Dungeon Master.
Death on the Water and Baldur's Gate Bodyguard

And might I ask your name?" (He gets the name, I assume) "Ah, {her name}, a beautiful name indeed."

Death on the Water and Baldur's Gate Bodyguard
Better luck for the future, gentlefolk" And with that Gulari stands and strides happily towards the privada.
ooc: What's a privada - I'm inferring from context some sort of private booth/room; I've just not heard the term before.
Occassional Dungeon Master.
(Yeah, that makes sense. I'll try not to be "that guy" who complains about all his bad rolls)
(Perception check: 15)
Cirrus reaches a lanky arm across the table at Gundren, "Personally, I would be more than happy to help someone like yourself who is in need of such aid. Allow me to introduce myself: I am Cirrus Fujin, son of Claribelle; proprietor of the Clear Bell Boutique. My mother made your wife's wedding dress." (I imagine Gundren would be confused by this statement, if his wife even mentioned anything, she would have said that her dress was made by a human, and this guy if definitely not human) "My good sir, forgive me if I am speaking out of turn, but if the cart is already fully stocked, and the two of your are eager to go now, why don't all of us set out for Phandalin at the same time?"
