((somehow I thought we might be what they were searching for :P ))
((I'm not going to make it quite that easy for you!))
Moryax gives a chuckle "We've fought a fully grown white dragon and lived to tell the tale. A few pickpockets and burglars wouldn't be able to stand up to us! I'm sure they're causing the locals a problem - that's why they asked for us. But we'll flush them out and bring them to justice in no time! Now, the next round's on us!" He clicks his fingers. You seem the barman roll his eyes at the gesture before coming over and taking the order. The dragonborn orders a round of the best ale for you all and pays for it in platinum, telling the innkeeper to keep the change. The drink is delicious.
You can spend time here drinking with the Champions of Justice. If you'd like to do/talk about anything specific then you're most welcome to (or if you want to go anywhere else for that matter), otherwise, we skip ahead to you retiring to your rooms?
Brayton will buy another round for everyone and continue chatting up the “heroes” before heading up to the room for the evening.
”Well all the good you lot have been doing, it’s the least we can do to return the favor. Barkeep, another round!” He declares with a loud but jovial tone
Trying to continue the conversation Laza takes his drink with a big smile, magics them all chilled for the Champions, and their group and says "Thanks for the drink! This is amazing! I wish we had some more stories to share of our own. But really this is our first time on a business trip together... These pickpockets and burglars you're after seem well below your pay grade." nodding to the platinum coin "Perhaps they are more dangerous than you've been led to believe. How would one even attempt to deal with criminals of that manner while keeping themselves safe?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Moryax is on his third drink at this point (Constitution check: 15) "Ah, we have our ways my Tabaxi friend! It's mostly very straightforward - stake out a likely target and catch them in the act. Or visit a crime scene, find clues and track them down that way. Then, work our way up the food chain until we get to the boss. We have some tricks up our sleeve too, but they're trade secrets I'm afraid! As for staying safe, we haven't met any thieves yet who can challenge us in open battle - frankly they'd be foolish to try. No, you don't need to worry, we'll bring them in in no time."

The Champions of Justice gratefully appreciate your generosity and you continue to have a few drinks before Ruth gives a stretch "It's been a long day, and we've got an early start tomorrow. And I think we've had quite enough ale! Time to head up to bed!" The Champions of Justice thank you for an enjoyable evening and head up to their beds.
An insight check for each of you: Rothnar: 7 Laza: 23 Ruhvon: 14 Brayton: 9
For Laza and Ruhvon:
When Ruth makes the comment about having enough ale, she gave a loaded glance to Moryax, who appeared to shrink a little in his chair and then followed the others up to bed meekly.
"Again, thanks for the drinks! Have a good evening!" Laza calls out as the Champions leave the table, adding quietly to his group to hear alone "I'm sure you all made the same connection I did as to for whom they are searching back in Dun Farum... We do still have work to do the other direction, but perhaps we should find a way to send a message back?"
Rothnar, who has been quiet during the whole conversation, his back near a wall if possible, and just dedicating faint smiles to the Champions and drinking small sips of ale agrees with Laza
"How could we send a message? I could ride all night but our horses are tired... the beast wouldn't make it..."
Ruhvon continues just to sip his tea and glare at these "Champions". He lets out an exasperated sigh when they finally excuse themselves.
"I think that is fairly obvious," the druid replies to Laza. "It would be nice to give Pike a warning what is coming his way. What about you?" he says pointing to Erik. "You can head back in the morning, giving them an hour or so lead on you so they don't realize someone is following them. I doubt they can get much accomplished if you arrive just behind them."
Ruth was the dark-skinned female human wears long blue and silver robes and carries a book and holy symbol. She was a little quieter and less boisterous than the rest of the Champions of Justice.
If you want guys Erik to head back to Dun Farum with the message, I'm happy for that to happen.
"Riding back would be quite hard on any of us, or our beasts... and it might be hard to find a trustworthy courier here. If only we had sending stones or a familiar. I heard of both while sitting in some classes at the uni a couple weeks back." Laza adds.
“Think the horses can take it, it’s not like they’ve been going full gallop all the way here. Let’s send the message back and then we can get the job done.”
"If you are up to it Erik I think Pyke would appreciate it. "nods Rothnar in agreement. "If you rest a couple of hours and go before sunrise both you and the horse can make it before they reach the city. We can take breakfast with them and delay their own departure tomorrow... that will give you a little more time..."
"Our quiet, weary-looking wizard here can take it back," Ruhvon replies to Laza. "Please keep up."
"That should be easily done," he says adding to Rothnar's plan. "The dragonborn enjoyed to talk... maybe a bit too much by the look that the one in blue gave him. Still though I may take steps myself to ensure word gets back."
(You're about a day's normal travel by horseback, around 25 miles)
Erik nods his agreement. "Yes, I have some things that I wouldn't mind attending to in Dun Farum. And I'm sure that you're more than up to task. I'll retire now so I can get a few hours in before leaving." He heads upstairs to bed.
You head up to your rooms and have an uneventful and restful night's sleep. The next morning, when you awake, Erik's already left. When you head down for breakfast the Champions of Justice are sat at one end of a large table, seemingly finishing off a cooked breakfast. There are many other free tables. The innkeeper comes over asks where you'd like to sit.
Laza would have taken the same calico appearance as last night before heading down. He then takes a table near the Champions, ordering two pints, and taking them over to the table. One for himself, and offers the other to Moryax saying "Hair of the dog my friend? You're looking like you've had better mornings." with a small chuckle, adding "Will you head down to Dun Farum today? We're headed the opposite direction unfortunately, though hopefully our paths will cross again! I'd love to hear more of your adventures!"
Coming shortly after Laza, to join at the table “You could say that again!” Brayton says with a smile. He will order some breakfast as well. Just fine eating a hearty breakfast and listen to the conversation.
Ruhvon wakes early and takes a light breakfast quietly away from the the Champions. When he finishes, the druid takes the few leftover pieces bread from his plate and heads outside. He makes his ways on the edge of town - on the Nyalean side, and wanders in the the shadows of the trees. The druid begins to break apart the bread and scatter it around him. He then sits to wait for a suitable messenger to approach.
(Looking for a place to find a bird for Animal Messenger. Message: "Champions of Justice coming to Dun Farum. Erik bringing same news ahead of my messenger. Expect worst if this reaches you first - Ruhvon."
