The hail of light that the flare sent pouring through the cell immediately caused Bakreags' stomach to lurch with a rare particle of anxiety, however the sight of the spiders only served to further embolden him. In his bid to attack Ront, however, the Kenku was almost thrown directly into him! All the Dwarf could manage in his moment of realization was a loud exclamation: "Oh, for the love of -", which trailed off as he realized the danger he was in. Taking a moment to analyze the situation, he knew that if the bird simply hit the ground, it would do much more damage to them than it would to him. As such, he opened his arms to stop the cannonball that was Bell, and hopefully save them from damage in the process. At any rate, it would allow one combatant to get up faster than two floundering ones.

The kenku had braced herself for impact, shutting her eyes tightly having expected the fall from the large orc to hurt a lot more than it actually did? Did the floor grow flesh? And grow hair?! She peeled open one eye to see exactly what was going on, preparing herself for the worst until she saw the dwarf purposefully risk straggling behind just to save her! “My hero!” She exclaims in a high feminine voice, and if birds could kiss, the light peck at his cheek was her best impression of one. BAKREAG - THE ESCAPE
Bakreag went down with a hardy - "Oof!" - before Bell rolled off of him. The exclamations from the bird were found endearing by the stoic Paladin, and an uncharacteristic smile stretched across his face, but soon faded as he realized the urgent situation they were in. Taking the help of the Kenku, he managed to stand with little trouble, and soon brought the pipe up with him. The Dwarf brushed himself off briefly, rolling his tensed shoulders. Bakreag turned towards the unfolding situation, and then back to Bell.
"I'm assuming ye' don't have a weapon, so just try not to get hurt until we clear em' out of ere'." And with that, Bakreag moved to join the fray, moving towards the door to look out for any other immediate threat, and scanning the land outside of their cells in general.

After working on the shackles, Lucina gets to her feet darting over to the fallen drow and picking up the hand crossbow and the bolts. She loads one of the bolts into the crossbow and moves to the entrance of the cell.
One would begin to wonder just why this breakout was going so well. Sure it had been relatively quiet so far. But a flare had gone off and it should only be a matter of time before - An extremely loud alarm bell began to sound throughout the cavern. It rang incessantly and periodically, never stopping. It was then you would realize that this just might be a bad time to be in the slave pens. A horrific screech fills the cavern - followed quickly by two more which drown out the sound of the warning bell in its entirety. Shortly after the screeches stop the bell stops ringing as well.
Those with DARKVISION can see the reason. Several large, flying demons are buzzing around the tower and the drow have taken up arms to defend the outpost. Every now and then you'll see a Drow captured by a demon and carried up into the darkened caverns above.
You hear a loud snort come from the back of the cage and Buppido the Derro lumbers forward with a wide maniacal grin. "All a part a my divine plan. Chasme and Vrock assault the drow and Buppido makes his escape!" Without waiting for a response, Buppido starts walking towards that same gate that Ront is struggling to squeeze through.
The slave pens around you are now quiet compared to the rest of the outpost. A massive wooden gate stands between you and any place leading out of the slave pens.
Lucina and Nam
Lucina's quick movement allows her to yank the shackles off of Nam's wrists. It cuts on the way down, grazing the skin and stinging quite terribly. But overall, the result is positive - Nam now once again has the freedom to move! Lucina also picks up the Hand Crossbow and 18 bolts.
Bezel and Lynistra
Before Lucina can offer any aid, Bezel leaps into action. The sharpened flint cutting against his own hands as he takes the opportunity presented to stab viciously at the drow. Stunned by the rampaging orc knocking him down, the drow initially doesn't get to defend himself as the flint slashes and stabs at him. It draws blood, but the drow was beginning to get his sense back and was reaching for his shortsword - until Lynistra finished off the drow with a precise stab through the mans heart. The drow scowls in anger and defeat as the last of his life force drains out of his body.
He had a Shortsword, a Hand Crossbow, and 16 bolts.
Bakreag holds the sides of his head in agony, as the incessant screaming pierces his eardrums quite unceremoniously. Amidst this, however, he notices the death of the other Drow, and rushes to pick up his short-sword. In doing so, he tosses aside the rusted lead pipe and dashes outside of the cell. Glancing up and seeing the demons, he resolves to keep his head low and continue towards the gate.
"COME WITH ME, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, SALVATION IS NEAR!" Bakreag cries out triumphantly as he runs.
