Your birdie spots some people spread around the area under cover and a couple of arbalists in blinds. These are big enough to put a bolt through a BFV (Bradley Fighting Vehicle)
'Agreed says George, it's unlikely they've survived this long with guards who lay against the side of the road. Same gig as always? Uth and Alley in first? Thomas and a couple of scouts drift off and backstop us?'
George pitches his voice low and makes sure his lips are obscured as he talks.
Using the pr-arranged signals and calls, Thomas informs the rest of the group of their findings.

'George Romero, formerly of Whiskey Alpha Group, attached to the 7164, 1 of the 5th SFG. But I'm guessing none of that means anything to you all. We're here looking for a friends daughter, they started off at the Marine Corps base near San Diego before the Change - heard she might be here.'
As George speaks he's carefully checking out the guards, and the hidden artillery emplacements (hunters mark). He's also keeping his hands out in the open, deliberately looking peaceful. Fortunately, he and the Mayor's Own have been through this before, and they read his body language as ready to fight and suspicious of these 'guards' drinking on duty. The Mayors Own begin spreading out and drifting towards whatever scraps of cover they can find, each of them ready to draw and shoot in at a moments notice.
His magical hand moving to be near the closest arbalest so as to be ready to make it misfire, Thomas sits nonchalant astride his horse, still watching these new people for threats. Gamliel flies high and safe, keeping his informed about any movements. Curious, Thomas spends the wait time to cast Detect Magic, to see if there is more than mundane threats nearby.
OOC - What time of day is it, in the game? Is there any kind of blockade or barrier up ahead?

"I was with 3/4 of the 1st, ForceRecon, 1st MEF, name's Aleister." Careful to keep his hands visible Aleister grins. "Is that beer your holding? Been a few ages since I've tasted any of that. How about doing some dickering for a can or two?"

I did a search on what George said and I'm not sure if that was real or you where bullshitting. On the other hand Mac recognises Aleister's MOS and replies 'Sargent Makie 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force.' "Sorry, not beer. It's actually a signal. If I swap hands a yard of steel will fly through the air and hopefully come out your back." He gives a nasty grin.

Late afternoon, an hour from sunset. No blockades that you can see.

Real, but not well known. CIA teams attached to Army Special Forces teams - wouldn't be surprising if the Marines didn't know - glad we had Al with us.
Aleister and Mac talk it out. This will all be resolved very quickly if you just tell them why you are here. Insight is that they are what the say they are.

OOC - Nice! Just watched the video of it in action. What would that rate for in-game damage? Oh, and no magic detected?
No magic detected.
The thing I found most impressive was over 1000 shots in two hours with no degradation in power and no jams. If you 'unstring' it when not in use the bands should last a very long time. When shooting the darts its counts as a light crossbow. With the ball bearings its 1d6 but no longer has the reload property while the magazine lasts (40 shots). Ammunition is recoverable as well. With sights and stock you get +2 to hit on your first shot in a round if you can take a round to sight. range would be 100/300.
"Harrier's are nice birds, specially when one needs a bit of help from above," Aleister says. "As my friend said, we're looking for a woman named Lucy Bernstein, some folks a ways back," he indicates back the way they came. "Claudette was the name one of them gave, said she came this way. And, bye-the-bye, we're doing a bit of recce to see what's left of the world; maybe find some who are looking to bring a bit of sanity back into things. Up north Portland way there is a megalomaniac trying to birth Sauron's realm of the Lidless Eye no less. I am sure other such bright spots are around here, too; Claudette mention something about the Sinaloa thinking north of the border is looking pretty nice.
"Anyway, my jaws getting a bit long. So, you know anything of Mrs. Bernstein?"

George steps into the street, hood back, hands clear of his weapons and sides.
'Al - aren't you a jarhead? You wanna introduce yourself?'
"I'm Mac he's Floyd. Jarhead? [shrug] Your turn." 18 If any of you are sneaking, stealth checks please.
George notes that he is holding a beer bottle (Castlemaine XXXX - this is an Australian brand from Queensland)
OT Why is Queensland beer called XXXX - spelling is hard.

Hello there. I've never played D&D before but I really want to try and learn the rules. Really want to get into the whole roleplay thing.
Edit:I just noticed you started the session quite a while ago, ignore this post as I'll PM the thread owner.
