With the prisoner now stirring, Sarah grips her bow and begins the low keening chant to charm the stranger (WIS 13). Once she is certain the spell has latched onto the ninja's mind, she wants to know, to start with, their name, why they were there, how often they ambush people, who was with them and where they are from. Sarah would also ask if they are likely to strike again or where they would go now. Any information on the road ahead would also be appreciated.
Larry; to kill you and rob the bodies (sorry about that); we've been at it since before the change but back then its was bank robberies (he seems upset that all the goodies are no longer kept in convenient buildings); they have been moving south and had just started working this area; next strike is up to Bolton (the boss); they probably went back to their base.
Having stumbled into the first ambush, George moves into full defensive mode - moving 50 yards away from the main group and disappearing into the scenery as best he can. Keeping one eye on the party and their prisoner, he carefully scans the surrounding area for signs of any more attackers.

Hwoinds bleeding from where the stakes successfully penetrated his armor, Thomas climbs out of the pit with assistance, groaning. Once the healing takes hold, he sighs and says “Here I was warning you all to watch out for them using magic, and I didn’t! Who were these assassins and why did they target us, so far from home?” While other preparations are being made, he will take the time to summon up his familiar once again, shaping the ether into an owl body for Gamliel to reinhabit.
#Welcome back! What happened?# he asks his pandimensional friend.
" I thought I saw something ahead and was coming in for a look when out of nowhere... and then I'm here. The something was a horse picketed."
Sarah now wants to know where their hideout is and if there are more of them than seen. There is also the matter of the magic used- who is doing it, how strong are they and where did they learn it.

" There's a river in the national forest north of here. Bolton picks a likely spot and makes this cool shelter appear. You'd better stay away because he also makes these invisible dog things that'll bite you to death. Bolton has been interested in this magic shit since we where kids. Me and the others where always ribbing him about it until the Change then suddenly it wasn't funny anymore."
Sarah rubs her temples. This just gets worse and worse. How the hell were they supposed to do anything about them if they were in some kind of magical bunker? The group was a threat but she had no idea what to do.
"What do you guys think?" Sarah asks as she moves away out of earshot from their captive. "This group is dangerous and this Bolton fellow is even more worrisome. I don't like the idea of leaving them be to gain more power and kill more people but I have no idea if we can find them."
“Magic is slow but, as we’ve seen, can become incredibly powerful. The shelter he’s talking about I’ve seen hints of in my book, but it’s way beyond me for now. Same with that large illusion of normal terrain where none exists. I’ve only the small scale stuff at this time. That being said, Magic is also a close up game - a few arrows and it’s over for any caster. I think we should report this as son as we can. We’ve taken out a couple of their soldiers, so they’ll think twice about trying that again.”

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
"Can he sustain the magical bunker forever? I would assume he could given how I can keep up my darkness spell by re-casting. If so, it will make it a big problem for anyone who goes after them but I suppose sending out a warning is better than nothing. Unless someone has a better idea?" Sarah considered.
Privately, Sarah thought it was an utter waste to use magic in such a fashion. What was the point of honing such talent for such a base use? Joy in senseless slaughter? Greed? It was also a little galling that such magical talent was squandered on a bandit.
Aleister glares at Larry, "Probably should turn this one into leather armor, get some use out of him! Let's continue with our original plans, hope we meet up with the Apaches and tell them about this 'Bolton' character. I imagine they will have the what all to deal with this situation better than we can."
He will heal Thomas with one of the healing packs, and prepare an herbal poultice the help speed and damage that the pack does not take care of.
"Yes, let's take him with us and let the Apache know of this raider's magic. If they are as talented in the area as I expect, they'll be able to take down his bunker with ease. If not, they can starve him out or bury it under a few tons of rock."

When he hears that you are going to give him to the Apache he gets very scared. You don't know if it's from stories pre or post change.
Day 5 135
You leave Phoenix and head east toward Apache country after an hour or so 19 Thomas feels the link to his familiar go silent. Something has happened.
The rest of the day is uneventful
Day 6 876
Another days travel. It is mid afternoon when the owl spots about 10 people with horses camped by the side of the road. They have a certain Native American aspect to them even though they are mainly dressed in flannel shirts and jeans.
Adjusting his disguise spell to make his appearance resemble regular riding gear and clothes, Thomas informs the group of his familiar's observations.
#Also, next time you see something interesting, don't inspect it, just tell me, okay? You're important, even if this is just a finger nail or equivalent.#
*Oh, very well. I'll try to keep my curiosity in check.*
After his magical adjustments, he'll call forth his invisible hand and have it near his shoulder as they ride to meet this new group.

"Greetings," Aleister says firmly, "My name is Aleister. We are traveling thru your land on the way to Truth or Consequences to help this person," he signals toward Sarah, "who is seeking her family. We have some trade items, news from the west and northwest and we have also recently run into some rather nasty bushwackers close to your territory that you might wish to be aware of." He points to Larry(?) and continues; "This is one survivor of an attempted ambush of us. He tells of a magic using bandit leader, 'Bolton' seems to be his name, who is attempting to establish place for himself and his cutthroats. We brought him here to face your justice as he was party to nefarious activities that could prove detrimental to you. Mostly I figured you would not want his ilk rampaging around the edges of your domains.
"I have some healing skills as well and would offer such services as you might need of them as a gesture of peace. After all there are forces alive in the world that would enslave any who prefer to breathe free air, and all who would contest such tyranny should know who are willing the stand against them. Am I wrong in thinking that the Apache Nation would feel the same as my people do about such tyrants?"

"Maybe we should actually look for the Apaches?"

Uthvern will just be keeping watch on the surroundings while everything else is being sorted.
Aleister spits and scowls ferociously, "Okay folks, next time we get into a rumble of any sort, I am just gonna sit back and do some knitting!"

With Gamliel's aid, Thomas casually looks at the terrain, seeing what forces are arrayed in the field around them.

Sarah feels the hair on the back of her neck rise. They are being watched from hiding but can she figure out where?
Perception 20
She very carefully does not let her hand fall to Gramp's hilt or drift to her bow.
You perceive another 10 bowmen shattered around you. They are not overtly threatening but they are not screwing around.
There is no magic about these people.
