Thomas empties a canteen and fills it with water, then checks to see if the magic is held in the water.

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
"Drop the remains into the pool, piss in it, shit in it, anything to contaminate their source."
OOC- Any way of draining the pool?

"Hmm, I agree this could be an asset. Is the pool really evil or just being used for evil purposes? If the latter, then destroying it would be regrettable."
"We're sure not going to be able to take it with us. You want to tap into it somehow? I'd be willing to try something about that, to see what it does."

"Not sure we can tap into it now but an outpost perhaps to study it? With the negative energy taint this place has, we'll need to keep an eye on it anyway."
Sarah considers the pool and if she can work out a way to use it. Stick Gramps or her bow in and stir? Risk drinking it? Hmm, probably not without testing it on a rat or something... Enchanting an item?
Aleister looks around, "Maybe something in this place can gives us a clue to what the the blazes is what in here." He will examine the chamber carefully, starting with the altar.
Investigation 17
He will also employ Detect Disease and Poison.
"If that head poobah ain't here, one has to wonder where it is; I'd hate to have it leap out of some dark place and scare the breakfast out of me. I hate that sort of fecal crap."

Checking out the runes on the altar you see that it siphons power into anything magical placed on it, making a more powerful version of what it already is. Growing a greater zombie from a zombie takes a month.
It doesn't make magic items from non magical items but it can make a spell permanent. So for example, if you had the spell Magic Weapon on your sword and kept renewing it for a month the altar and pool would make it permanent. Nothing at all easy about this but that's a feature not a bug.

If I had to guess where the greater cleric is I'd say she came back to her quarters, saw the hole in the ceiling and then got every zombie and guard in this place and set up to make sure you never leave (except as walking corpses).
"Guys, I think we hit the mother load," Sarah says as she stands from stooping to examine the runes and quickly explains. "So? Disband the cult, find our beastie and high priest and enchant everything?"
"Wow!" says Thomas. "That could be incredibly valuable. This needs to be guarded better than Fort Knox! Let's finish what we came here to do, and get some of our people here as an outpost, for sure."
OOC - No other exits?

'Lovely - trapped in a killbox with only one way out, facing down an evil princess and a horde of Zombies.' Sighing deeply, the ranger pulls up his cloak and takes a couple of deep breaths, focusing on the shadows, the darkness and the silence deep within himself. This hoodoo voodoo shit still didn't seem real, but his wife had helped him hone his meditations and he swore he could feel the darkness wrapping around him and his companions....([Tooltip Not Found])
'I'll scout ahead, see what may be wating for us down this passage.' with that, he slides into the shadows and makes his way down the lone hallway, watching and listening for the inevitable.
Thomas also slips into the shadows, Gamliel high and out of the way for the moment. Letting the Ranger do his thing enveloped in his magic, Thomas refreshes the Flame Arrows spell, and follows about 10 feet behind. Before leaving the others, he says "Remember, the magic cicrle I created will block all Zombies and their attacks. Use it as a redoubt if needed to retreat to."

The magic quickly fades once the water leaves the pool.
"The question is now where is the high priest? And can we distinguish the priest from the rest of the people here?"

Max "Can we use this?"
I'm sure you can destroy the magic pool if you put your mind to it.

Panic is a mechanism that strengthens the gene pool.

Just a guess.

OOC: Hmm, bottleneck the undead with a Circle vs Undead in a passageway? Another entrance would be good. Also, message to Granny and the militia?
Nope, only the way you came in.
