The mayor looks at the newcomers “Any medical or first responder training?” To the locals “Go to the nursery and get digging tools. Get Mary from the clinic and help her bring all the medical supplies you can carry.” She stares at the crash site where a huge pall of smoke is rising. “Volunteer firefighters get your gear.”
Eva who knows where the clinic is starts heading that way. And calling over her shoulder at the new people in town. ”Anyone that wants to head to the clinic follow me.”
You get to the clinic and find Mary, a registered nurse. The town is too small and lost their doctor years ago, usually people drive to Waldport if they need a Doctor or wait because they get a visiting doctor 3 days a month. Mary gets all the supplies she thinks will be useful and parcels it out.
Going back to the mayor you find her talking to a guy in hunting gear carrying a rifle “Either every bullet I own is faulty or something weird is going on. They worked fine up till that light now none of them work.” They mayor seems to be holding her temper just barely “Merl! I don’t have time for this, a plane fell out of the sky and the forests may be going up in flames.” She looks at Eva and the others and points at some bicycles “Use those and get the supplies out to the crash.”
Eva take the supplies that she is carrying and head towards where she saw the plane crash. *Do I need to make an investigation check or something?*
No, it’s very obvious where it crashed. Strangely or maybe providentially it crashed on the road coming from the interstate right on top of the cutting between the hills causing an avalanche that has completely blocked the road. People are searching the wreckage but all they are finding are bodies. You join the workers fighting the fire and looking for survivors. There’s an older man who has set up a treatment area to deal with those injured fighting the fire. He is also not a local, his name is Steven Novella and he’s a trauma surgeon from Portland who was coming to visit a friend in Yachats when his car died. He was walking into town with his luggage when an airplane fell on his stalled car.
Can Eva start asking around if anyone has any idea on what is happening?
The general consensus is - EMP. But there is also a rumour going around that guns don’t work either... but that’s obviously ridiculous. Isn’t it? One of the deputies overhears this “It’s easy enough to test, I just need to fire my weapon. But if it goes of the sheriff will have my balls for cuff links, begging you pardon ma’am.”
It’s a struggle but the fire is under control and there is a miracle, the searchers find a survivor. Up in a tree, well away from the crash and fire is a carry basket with a baby girl in it. The doctor checks her over and finds that except for a few scratches and some hunger that she’s fine.
ooc: guys, I must say i am impressed: I say it in advance: if it is just the thrill of the new game ok, otherwise I will not able to keep so many posts per day, let me know and if you are searching for a player posting several times per day, I will unfortunately drop out
Herman helps the others with the fire: the plain landed on those very hills he had planned to hike just the day before. He is impressed.
The questions he asks around to whoever he meets:
EMP?! What the hell does it mean?
Are we really cut out from everything and everyone? How far is the first village?
and then to the ones managing the water for the fire
Suppose we will be really cut out for a long time, where is the river or the closest well? I mean, we can hunt game but if we run out of water we are screwed!
