Looking over their small hoard, Kayla has to admit she's a little impressed. She had no idea the adventuring business was so lucrative! Then again, did it really make up for new voices in her head and lethal danger? Hmm, well she was the one who'd decided to adventure rather than stick with the steady work with the caravan. Kayla blamed the whispers. Their fascination with smiting was catching. Now, did she really want anything from the loot?
"The moss agates are pretty but I really have no attachment to them or anything else. Perhaps we could sell everything we don't want or can't use and then split the coin? I wouldn't mind finding a smith and paying for better armor."
"Certainly!" Bukowyr replies to Kayla. "And let's not forget we may use the windmill as our headquarter. I would not be against taking this house as ours, after we are done with the beast." - the Svirfneblin is more at ease with the environment than he had been in the past hours. The growing admiration for the place is evident by the look in his eyes.
"Time to head to the next area." - he had gathered their hoard back to the backpack by then.
Here's the rest of the area where you are right know, remember that is all dark - I'm showing you the available directions, but if you don't see something in a tile and would like to investigate the area, feel free to ask me don't assume that it's empty.
The Svirfneblin lights up a torch and hands it to Benito. - "For you, my friend. So you can be the front line, as I check the corridor. Keep the wall to your right." - Bukowyr suggests the others. - "This is the southernmost corridor. We are going ahead."
Keep the house? Kayla thought she might be more inclined to put it to the torch but finding somewhere to stay that was half as nice as this might be hard. She could be practical.
"Alright, southernmost it is," Kayla murmurs in agreement and then grins at the druid. "You ready, Kai? I assume you're still detecting magic?"
As you get near the corridor, everyone notices an absence of footprints. This catches your attention and carefully advance until Bukowyr finds a 5-foot-long, 10-foot-deep pit hidden under several rotted wooden planks, all hidden under a thin layer of dirt. The pit has sharpened wooden spikes at the bottom.
Noticing this, you can avoid it, and continue moving in that direction until you notice a path opening to the east (or south based on the image orientation) and another one on the same direction south (west on the image) that leads to stairs that continue down.
It’s obvious to anyone standing at the top of this 20-foot-long staircase that the ghostly chants originate from somewhere below.
Warning the others. - "There is a pit right here. Not too far for a jump. Does anyone want to look down the pit to see who was not as good as we are finding this trap? "
"I suggest we go ahead first, to make sure we have explored all of this area before moving to another level. I am in no hurry to follow that chanting origin now." - the gnome suggests pointing to the stairs.
Kai nods in aggreance with Bukowyr. "Better to make sure we haven't missed anything up here first. Then we can... Follow that..." She refers the the chanting with a slight look of worry.

The corridor is filled with shadows and with the ongoing chant, Kayla is filled with apprehension. Remembering the suit of armor, she decides that perhaps discretion is the better part of valor and softens her footsteps and moves as well as she can in the cover of shadows.
Kayla's noise echoes through the dark corridors and she perceives the echo of her own breathing...that never happened before, however, she then notices with Benito's shimmering light that came from behind a silhouette just in front of her in the intersection and realized that it wasn't her breathing echoed in the corridor... a soft moaning joined the sound of raspy breathing from the south intersection (again based on the map orientation). It's hard for Kayla to make out the appearance of the being that raised from the ground, all she could see was an almost bald head but it had patches of hair here and there, long claws and it was wearing old rags that couldn't be considered clothes anymore.
Bukowyr 5 ft behind Kayla was able to see perfectly what they were going against, but he glanced first the other corridor (west) and found another creature raising from the ground:
Reminiscing about the monstrosities he uses to hunt, Bukowyr hopes his knowledge would help him to assess the situation and understand this creature's nature, as it looked undead, but might as well be a monstrosity.

Monstrosities
Monstrosities are monsters in the strictest sense -- frightening creatures that are not ordinary, not truly natural, and almost never benign.
Quickly drawing his crossbow, the Svirfneblin wanted to draw the creature's attention to himself, so it would offer an opening to Benito and the others, ready to bestow his hunter's mark upon the creature.

"I don't necessarily need any of these items. I'm okay with selling off the lot after you all take what you want to keep."

The chanting easily put her teeth on edge but Kayla didn't like the idea of something unpleasant creeping up on them.
"Yeah, let's sweep this level before anything else. I don't want to be ambushed."
How do you approach the next corridor?
