"Yes, we are all fine thank you." Kurama replied as he recalled the energy and began dusting himself off. "Have they lost their typical food source? Or is something else occurring in the region that would cause this new behavior?"
Other than some slashes and scrapes, nobody seems gravely wounded. Pip helps attend to one of the dwarves who has some deeper cuts. The rest of them start to pack up their camp, as the first rays of morning light start to appear over the eastern horizon.
"Not sure. The herds they hunt seem a bit thin lately, but could be the natural way of things. Damn things do seem more brazen, either way." He shrugs. "Could just be my imagination, though."
"I suppose we'll have to be on our guard then from here on out." Turning to his companions for a moment, Kurama added, "And as we're all now awake, I believe we're ready to continue on whenever you're group is ready. "
Can you remind us how far out from the city we are?
The dwarves told you it would be 2-3 days depending on your pace. You already put in a full day, so you can expect to get there either late tonight (you're getting an early start!) or tomorrow.
You continue hiking with the dwarves and sure enough, as the sun starts to set, Frostshore comes into view. You just see the distant glimmering lights at first, but after another thirty minutes, you reach the settlement. It's modest in size but there is plenty going on as the dwarves prepare for the festival. The rocky coastline stretches up and down in either direction, and you can hear the crashing of near-frozen waves bashing up against the rocks.
Hardan greets a few dwarves on the main avenue of the town, and then comes back over to talk with you. "Festival will be kicking off second morning from now. Until then, we can put you up in one of the fishing huts. Put you to work but you'll get good meals out of it."
A caravan of carts comes down the main road and into the town, seemingly merchants or vendors from further south.
Work is fine. Meals are better,Brask says. He looks with interest at the arriving merchants, but then remembers he has no money in the world.
I reckon the world can take care of itself for a few days. Maybe even a week. We're owed some rest and relaxation, right? He aims this remark at Effort, Kurama and Pip.
Effort grinds her teeth a bit, but then gives Brask a slight nod. "It's true. The world will always need to be saved, and that is what we originally set out to do. But we must ensure that we still like it enough to want to save it. If this festival is what it takes, then why not?"
She keeps the rest of her cynical thoughts to herself: that everything in the world is also connected, and that she doubts even the festival will be all fun and games. But Brask and Pip certainly look like they could use some respite from the non-stop race against the demon cultists.
"A few days rest is a good idea. We've gone through a lot the past few weeks and I believe we could use the time to rest our minds and bodies. Besides, we do not have a set goal at the moment besides 'find a way to save the world', so we could use this time to ponder how best to proceed moving forward." Kurama began before adding. "And, the festival sounds rather delightful as well."
I think we would set off with Harden towards the place we'll be staying for the next few days. Brask wants to find his feet, and get the layout of the city. He also wants a good chance to see how the citizens respond to the various sights of a minotaur, a tiefling and a goblin. He assumes Kurama won't attract too much attention...

We're good, says Brask. He looks at the others. We're good, right? Does anyone look badly wounded?

(Kurama would be rather excited to get to the festival, so he would be open to moving a bit quicker and getting their the same day)

No time like the present; Brask is ready to continue the journey right now.
Effort, very likely tired from the last battle, nods her agreement.
(hopefully will be able to post a little more now! Thank you for botting effort, I missed being in the game :) )
