Jenna told Quacky Chan of the Chan clan to wait outside while the Edgewalkers gave their report, and with a singular quack of obedience, the duck sat down outside by the door and waited.
After Vusgaar has finished giving the report and his theory, Meiara steps back up. "I believe that my comrades are ready for our next mission. Is there anything you need us to do?"

Liliana nods. "The Eidolon has informed me that you will have a week to rest and recover, and then you will be sent to Ohr Kaluun. There is a war maze there that needs to be cleansed."
Lore: Ohr Kaluun is one of the provinces of Riedra. It is a series of islands, and one of the few places to not be a haven of safety. Before the Unity, Ohr Kaluun was the home of dark mages and necromancers who built massive mazes to hold their treasures. While they were defeated, some holdouts still remain in the islands, and the war mazes remain, silent and forbidding. Occasionally a team of Harmonious Shield soldiers is sent to clear an area out, but most often the Edgewalkers are sent to clear out a war maze. War mazes are dangerous nests of necromancy and even dark manifest zones, and otherworldly threats are common there.
With the week they were granted to rest and recover, Demetrios took full advantage of it to continuously train and pray, similarly to how the training was after the binding ceremony. Although the altavar he was bound to didn't seem to be affecting him too much, he felt the need to keep his body and mind in top condition for the case it does decide to do something. He had to be ready for it.
The group (if they stayed around) would often see him out in the fields doing drills, running, lifting heavy things, and the like, then the night he could be found praying and meditating. Despite eating and drinking not being necessary for him to survive anymore, Demetrios had his breakfasts and dinners. It felt weird not feeling the sensation of hunger or dehydration, even if it was convenient and made room for more training, the paladin felt slight comfort in eating. It made him feel... Normal for the most part, plus it gave him some excuse to socialize and learn more about those who we would be working with moving forward.
With boosted confidence, he was ready to go to Ohr Kaluun.
And he does this all AFTER their meeting because I'm a dumbass sorry Books!

Meiara spends her week enjoying herself in the way that made her feel best since she had obtained her Druidic powers: being one with nature. She could be found taking strolls in the woods, walking through the fields and maybe challenging Demetrios to a friendly race or two if the Paladin felt up to it, going swimming if there were any sizable bodies of water in the area, making some flower crowns for herself and anyone who wanted one, and taking some time to herself to meditate and focus on nature and the il-altas. During all of this, Meiara primarily went without her sandals, much like she did in Ralia. It never really bothered the young woman to be in constant contact with the grass and dirt.

Among other things, Jenna spent her week acquainting herself with her new friend. Quacky was a quiet duck, and only quacked when it was really necessary. If observed at all, she would spend her time enjoying nature, and of course had a regular exercise regiment that included lots of stretching and yoga, air punches and kicks, and light weightlifting with plenty of sit ups to keep her physique in top shape, lean and explosively fast. As part of her training, she would be seen doing handstands and other various balancing position from a tree stump, practicing her breathing and concentrating with her eyes closed. Indeed, her body was a weapon, and she had much respect for it. At times, she would practice throwing her skinny blades from her belt holster against different natural targets, and collected them and keep them sharp and clean. Wherever she was, Quacky was always near, whether he was sitting off to the side, or waddling directly behind her in comical fashion. She would go on long hikes along the horizon, and quacky would sit on the top of her pack back as she jogged and worked up a mighty sweat.
There were a few days where Jenna would be gone to explore the countryside and when she returned, her jet black hair was beautifully braided in such a manner that would have been impossible to achieve given the time she was away, and any brawling scars or bruising she had would have gone away, as if they never existed.
Given pause by all the offers and wishes, Vusgaar chews on his lips and 'hms' quietly as if deeply considering the response. "... Admittedly, it starting to read more like merely theory and speculation, as there was much to piece together. But I do truly believe -- know it shall be made more by the time of our arrival. It just merely requires time." He glances between his notes and Demetrios, gives the man a long look, and then offers the man a few sheets. "You may find this section particularly... interesting. For it seems a part of the monolith's destruction may have very well been at the hands... of a traitor, noble jailor."
Though still riddled with sidebars and a few idle tangents, the main point conveys a belief in an Elan or powerful abjurists with some ties to traitorous spirits, connecting and corrupting the purpose of the monolith. To what end besides its destruction, and weakening the defenses of Reidran, Vusgaar's notes only offer a series of possibilities, but nothing concrete. As that's happening, he turns to Meiara and adds, "With exception of the more 'developed' one, and considering their intelligence, I believe they are those shunted off the path even more violently than the ash spectres. Their touch is proof of a desperation of the spirit to regain the essence necessary to at least be reborn." A subtle frown traces his lips, and for a moment his gaze wavers from Meiara.
"Unfortunately, such is not to be. Too much was corrupted and distorted. Thus, only oblivion awaited them upon their discorporation. Unfortunate, but irreconcilable end."Vusgaar grows quiet after that, and would use the excuse of needing to focus on the report to avoid speaking further on matters.
Day of debrief:
Vusgaar stepped up without hesitation, and in both words and an offering of a more refined report, delivered it. Starting with a standard recounting of events and interactions, he eventually goes into further details about the creatures encountered and the monolith. Even then, the creatures take something of a backseat by comparison, but with the offer to furbish more details at the end based on his analysis; including the grim "possibility" that due to the shadows intelligence and abilities were destroyed utterly upon losing what shred of corporeal form they had, denying them further progress upon the path. As for the monolith itself, it is much as he explained to Demetrios with the added caveat of a very capable team lead or assisted by an Elan fell upon the defenders of the monolith, and were able to -- or at least attempted to manipulate the monolith. To what end, he again offers to furnish possibilities if requested, but would leave final determination to a less 'green' team. In any event, at least the possible Elan left a fading signature marking their course for another squad to potential pursue."
After all is said and done, he silently steps back as others step up. Though the news of a week's break warrants a raised brow, little more comes from it out of the shifter. But afterwards -- after the debriefing -- he humbly requests being allowed to make use of the holy hand grenades previously lent on the mission in the maze. As soon as that matter had been take care of, noone really sees Vusgaar for the remainder of the week. Outside of the mandatory morning exercises and designated time for prayers, the ursine shifter world rapidly delves deep into requests and sequestering himself in learning more about the mazes, accounts of undead thriivng their, and especially any knowledge... about shadow-like creatures appearing there as well.

A handheld sledgehammer now hung from a utility belt, along with other more mundane gear.
Vusgaar bows formally in return to Kiraana. But after cannot help but sniff at the air in her direction. "... Interesting."He mutters, and then following an apologetic headbow adds, "My apologies... Talaak frowned. His training had been profitable over the past week, yet he struggled with a feeling that he had not experienced before. A hidden anger, constantly burning. It sharpened his senses, but felt... unwieldy and overwhelming. He spent the first leg of the trip meditating during most of his waking hours, trying to control this feeling.
After a relatively quiet eight day trip, you arrive at the fort that watches over the entrance to the maze. The maze itself is a truly stunning sight. Prior Edgewalkers have slashed and burned the area for a mile all around, leaving you with an uninterrupted view of the maze, cut into a massive cliff. Visible here and there over the tops of the cliffs are massive, ruined towers that cast long shadows across the bare ground. Compared to the mammoth majesty of the maze, the small fort clinging to the edge of the bare area a mile from the maze entrance seems like a child's block, a toy fort that a toddler might play with.
The fortress itself is bustling with activity, mounted riders setting out on patrols and an observation post halfway into the slashed ground constantly fully manned.
OOC: Okay, so this is your chance to gather any information you want before entering the maze itself. Gonna do my best to keep it 24 hours tops IRL time, and hopefully I won't get swallowed by homework and exhaustion like I did yesterday.
Vusgaar is, in a word, tense during the first leg of the trip. But in following Talaak's example, he keeps from shifting to 'exorcise' the tension. If he notices over time Talaak's plight, the matter is never brought up at least by the shifter. Though towards the end he seems hyper sensitive about the man's presence...
"Here we are."Vusgaar says, breaking the silence between the group if Demitrios hadn't already. "If it is alright, I suggest some of us at least temporarily split up to gather various information from our comrades here." He suggests after having turned to the others. "My own focus would be learning of any dangers to those gifted with magic, and of marking our progress. Just in case those that built this mage were of the particularly mindful sort."He puts forth. And if there's no disagreement, he immediately steps away to ask around for non-active patrolmen.

Demetrios had remained relatively quiet throughout the trip, having continued some parts of his training with a new sword in hand that glowed with dim moonlight. He familiarized himself with the new blade and thanked the il-altas for allowing him to do so in a short amount of time. As he trained, he grew stronger and his ability to imbue his blade with the elements improved greatly. He was pleased with these advancements and continuously thanked and prayed to the spirits and The Inspired for granting him such abilities.
When they landed and Vusgaar had suggested they split up to gather information, Demetrios gave the shifter an approving nod. "I shall speak to the patrolmen and perhaps we can find someone of authority to report to if need be. We can meet back here in about an hour or so. Sounds alright?" If there were no disagreements, then the paladin would seek to question one of the patrols.
