"Perhaps we can temporarily hire horses or a coach or something here in town," Edeleth suggests. "You haven't spent all of that 30 gold pieces on lockpicks, daggers and riotous living already, I hope? And yes, of course, Roscoe, the dog must come along. Any dog clever enough to come all this way for help ought to be able to lead us back to its master."
In fact...a bit too clever? Edeleth looked at the tail-wagging pooch with sudden suspicion.
"Zyman," he called. "Is there any chance you could cast Detect Magic on this beast?" Edeleth went to ask the innkeeper about possible means of transportation, keeping a watchful eye on the dog.
OOC: Can Edeleth roll Insight on the pooch? :D 23
This dog definitely looks like it's been through some trauma, and wrestling with Roscoe is probably the most attention it's had in a long time...

Poor thing, Edeleth thinks. Okay, so it's probably not a transformed spellcaster or demon trying to lure us into a trap.
"Well, then, if we are all agreed on getting a coach," --he looked nervously at Grunda who had not spoken...apparently the strong, silent type, but also the most likely of them to flatten a riding horse-- "let us hope there is a good road from here to Oakfields. And when we negotiate the price, please, nobody mention Gnolls."
OOC: I'm thinking we would probably need a Skilled Hireling, unless someone has some backstory as a farmer or someone who deals with harnessing? It seems to me that as nobles Edeleth and Rosri would have been trained in everything about maintaining riding horses, but probably never harnessed or driven a team. That's what grooms and coachmen are for.

You all make a quick trip to Ruskor's Castle of Junk. Its fairly easy to find. A huge warehouse nestled in the Lower Peak, right by the Grand Marketplace. As you walk through the massive oaken double doors, you are struck by the sheer volume and quantity of random objects and antiques, chaotically stacked in piles from floor to ceiling. Your voices echoe throughout the warehouse, letting you wonder if anyone works here at all.
A few silent seconds go by, and a dwarven figure emerges from under a desk. A female dwarf, wearing a miner's outfit, complete with a hard hat, pick axe, and leather coveralls, covered in dirt. She looks around for a few seconds, then sees You.
"Well hello! Sorry I didn't see you there. Today is the busiest and most dreaded day of the year here at the Castle of Junk...Inventory Day!"
You hear a muffled voice coming from behind the desk, as if someone was speaking to the woman from a hole underneath the warehouse. You can't really hear what the voice is saying, but the woman answers it.
"Yes love, CUSTOMERS!"
Your hear some ruffling around, and a male Dwarf, similarly dressed and equally covered in dirt, climbs out of the hole underneath the desk.
"Ah, welcome to Ruskor's Castle of Junk! Our motto is : Ya' never know what ya' gonna get, but by Moradin, we've got it! What brings ya' here today?"

Edeleth waits for his companions to complete their purchases, trying not to think about the farmers and their families who are possibly being devoured at this very moment. He passes the time by stepping into a nearby book shop and leafing through several volumes, trying to look like someone who might actually buy something. Their selection of Elvish poetry is disappointing, to say the least.
Eventually, Edeleth notices a burly shopkeeper glaring at him. "May I be of some service to you?" Edeleth asks politely.
"If yer goin' to read every book in the shop, I'm goin' to have to charge ye for it," the shopkeeper growls.
"No need for coin to change hands," says Edeleth. "I will repay you in kind." Like every child of the five great houses of Lomalos, Edeleth was forced to recite The Fall of Artan so many times that he still sometimes awakes from nightmares mouthing the words. Now he begins a word-perfect recitation of the tragic ballad which describes the death of Artan Lithelon, the mightly cleric whose last action was to cast a healing spell on his brother Maeglin as they battled the evil wizard Grimmerang, sacrificing himself so that Maeglin would survive to become first King of Lomalos.
Around the eighty third stanza, the shopkeeper hurls Edeleth bodily into the street.
"If ye ever darken my door again, I'll set the watch on ye!" the bookseller shouts, shaking his fist.
"You got the better part of the bargain!" Edeleth shouts back as the door slams shut.
