Yuldra addresses the mountainside. "Big slimy mountain, allow me to introduce myself. I am Yuldra Iltazyara, eldritch archer and friend to sunny days. I know that you are powerful, mighty slimy mountain, and your anger at the sun must be equally powerful. I seek an audience with you to bargain for safe passage to a town with no slime and maybe a half-decent gastropub. With your wisdom and fungal infection I'm sure we can work out an arrangement that will be mutually beneficial and enable us to avoid any unpleasant confrontation. As a token of my goodwill, I present to you a gift: this tiefling fighter." She gestures at Endurance. "He's a bit of a wet blanket but I'm sure he's delicious and will serve you well."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
While she is halfway through talking, Endurance gives Yul a shove towards the mound, but while holding her still. If it seems like the mound or anything on the mound is reaching towards her in any way (perception: 11) he will pull her back
Yuldra... you make a grand speech to the mold. The Endurance shoves you and you step on the mold. From this two things become very clear to you.
1. The mold is carpeting the side of a mountain and it probably bares weird sacks filled with moss babies or fungus spores underneath all that parasitic fauna, you can't really tell but that's not important. What is important is that this moss (and algae and fungi) doesn't seem sentient. You speak but it can neither hear you nor understand you.
2. The moss is ungodly slippery. You can walk across but there is a risk of slipping and falling to the ground below.
(Basically this particular moss is inanimate and thus, immune to all kinds of CHA checks because you can't persuade/deceive/intimidate a tree)
(Yuldra believes she can intimidate a tree, but oh well) Endurance looks to see if there is another way around to the lighthouse that doesn't require climbing this, if not, he will slowly try to climb. "If I fall down, hopefully it flattens the ground enough for it to be less slippy, if I get to the top I will drop a rope down"
(Endurance thinks a mountain is a tree, but oh well...)
Yuldra dismisses her bow, waits moment and resummons it as a Lobo (that is, as the axe-bladed shovel designed for zombie-killing, not the last czarnian.) This she uses to try biting into the slimy surface then scoop it and throw it into the forest, hoping to clear a path to get around the bend. If the moss starts reacting, she'll stop.
Yuldra shovels the rock bed and begins to cut a pathway across. After getting about 5ft, she accidentally strikes a fungus sack that was beneath the moss carpet and it sprays her with weird fluid, fungus spores, and miniature baby algae that act like tape-worms. However, she is able to avoid all of it by quickly bending backwards and then going in to a back flip. She lands on her feet spotless. There is now a puddle of slightly greenish, transparent fluid on the place where Yul stood. The puddle has clumps of mushroom spores floating on it like nasty dust-bunnies in someone's soup and there are "alive" algae squirming around in it. The algae are the size of tape worms.
Varis inspects the squirming algae. These algae are acting like worms. With your investigative skills you come to the conclusion that these algae are the type that infect people on the inside. These things might be one of the things responsible for creating stuff like the former wolf cub you fought not too long ago now. However, this raises a disturbing thought. If these thing infected a wolf cub and turned it into that monster, what could it do if it infected something like a giant ape or an owlbear?
Glory tries to burn the moss. It crackles and sizzles and a horrid stench is released but the slimy, slippery fluid all over the moss is making it very difficult to burn the thing. If you could keep a fire going, you could burn through the moss but it will take a long time. If you don't have some way to keep the fire going, you're going to run out of torches before you can get even 1/4th of the way.
The moss carpeting long. It goes around the bend. You suspect it might reach all the way to the light house. It's like it's covering the entire bend of the mountain.
Yuldra checks her disguise kit for a scarf, facemask or feck it, a very long sock - anything that can be tied around her face to cover her mouth and nose - and wonders what indeed might these little creatures do if they infected something bigger than a wolf cub, how powerful such a creature might be. And could a creature of sufficient will withstand, maybe even control that power....
Well, a side of the mountain is covered but if you head a little bit back, you can climb over the mountain. However, the mountain is tall and you don't know if there's more moss on the other side. If there is, you'll effectively be stuck on top of the mountain.
How quickly did the sack spray up? In other words, Does Endurance believe that if moss was on the other side and we slid down the hill, would we be past the spray before it reached our faces?
The problem wouldn't be the sacks if the moss was on the other side. The problem would be the moss would cause you to lose your grip and fall off the mountain.
Endurance let's Yuldra deal with that

OOC: Endurance, you don't have to climb the mountain to get towards the light house. You have to walk across extra sliperry moss carpeting.
Yuldra make a DEX save.
To use a shovel-axe? Ok...

Oh... it's not to use it

Glory lights a torch and sees if burning a path ahead can gain us slower, but safer passage.

One thing's for sure...these things are ******* gross. Endurance, eat one.
Back and ready to DM and chew bubblegum. And I'm alllll outta bubblegum.
(I never said it was this, I meant in general Yuldra thinks she can)
How long is the mossy carpeting?

So could we go over the mountain, or is that also covered?
