Alexis eyes widen at the site of the berries, a trick she has seen you do before over these last 2 weeks yet she still seems as amazed as the first time. She looks back at you smiling before swallowing the sludge with as much gracefulness as she could muster.
She begins handing out the berries to the other girls in the cage, to the most needy first, always leaving herself to last-if there is anything left for her.
"You have a brave heart Sariya" she says as she works "I wish we had met earlier and in better circumstances, we would have been good friends, running around fathers manor causing all kinds of mischief..." she trails of and for a moment you see the sadness in her eyes. Although you had your differences, you both missed home and would do anything to escape this wretched place.
She quickly composes herself and turns to your smiling, "So, lets hear it then- how do you propose we break free?"
mera bends down to try and clean the mess. she seems to be anywhere but the tavern, not paying attention to how she’s cleaning the mess as she whispers to herself, ‘you did try mera. oh how you would’ve loved for the man’s tongue to freeze and stop working. mera you already tried to help and you didn’t, you’ll make it worse. if you had just focused a bit more- what if we kill the man? what!! no no no we can’t...OH JUST SHUT UP’
with that, she stands up and storms out of the tavern.
Like distant thunder, the chanting was a low rumble through the earth but grew louder with each passing second.
Neither of you can understand the chanting but you didn't need to...this was different...this was evil. The towns folk of Greenest make there way outside as the chanting gets louder, confused and scared they look to one another, trying to figure out what is happening- it was coming from the other side of town.
Louder again- there must be hundreds of voices chanting the same malicious words. Suddenly a chilling scream erupts and a streak of light shoots through the night sky, illuminating the town in a sickly purple. Like a firework, the streak explodes high in the sky with a deafening boom, townsfolk cover there ears and hide behind whatever they can find. A shock wave rushes through the town and the boom turns into a blood curdling screech.
Chaos erupts in the lazy town of Greenest and a single ,purple, lidless eye watches it all from the sky.
Cosima looks from the sky, to the closest townsfolk, to the direction of the chanting.
She feels the evil clear as day around her senses and as she watches the purple eye that has appeared in the sky, her golden eyes narrow and glimmer.
She walks to the side of the inn, takes a run up, bounds of the side of the wall, and with one twist holds onto the roof. With ease she lifts herself up and stands in the middle of the inn roof.
Looking around at the fear and panic in the townsfolk and listening to the chanting, she clears her mind and runs her fingers down the item that had not left her side all her life.
Cosima takes a deep breath, brings the flute to her lips, and plays her most soothing melody into the nights breeze.
Purple beam but all he saw was red. Pounding....Was that the sound of his racing heart or the echoes of the blast which vibrated in his bones? Breathing hard, he felt the adrenaline coursing through his clenched fists.Focus on your steps Se’airhe tells himself as he rounds the corner of the alleyway to the chaos that awaits
mera falls to the ground, arms wrapped around her body and her head tucked as far as it would go “NO NO GO AWAY. THIS IS A DREAM, THIS IS A DREAM ITS NOT REAL. ITS NOT REAL-“ nails scratching her arms, mera screams at the eye ‘STOP WATCHING ME” she starts smacking her head “WAKE UP MERA WAKE UPPPPP”
The once calm, laid back town is now hectic free for all as the people rush to there homes and grab whatever they can carry, others barricade themselves in there stone dwellings, while some just cover there ears and sob in fear. Children cry, women scream and brave men crack under its unblinking watchful gaze..
COSIMA- Your soothing melody flows effortlessly and beautiful out of your flute- only to be drowned out by screams and cries like a feather caught in a storm. No one pays you any heed as they rush to save themselves. However, on top of your elevated position you do now have a site advantage throughout the town.
(FEFO- if you wish, you can make a perception check to try and see what is going on from your elevated position.)
MERA- the smacks and the scratching do little to make the watcher disappear this time. With fresh blood dripping down your arms and your throat burning from screaming you come back into reality. The sounds startle you as you take in the chaos around you for the first time, townsfolk running, screaming and crying all around you and faintly ontop of it all you hear the sound of a faint melody. It seemed so out of place in the turmoil that was unfolding yet it held the message of strength, courage and unity. It was quickly drowned out by the deep chimes of bells- signaling that the town was under attack.
mera brings her hands in front of her. 10, she had 10 fingers. not 12 like her nightmares, no, 10. which meant...“this is real mera. this is real”.she didn’t know if the realisation reassured or frightened her even more. she stared at the eye for a second before scrambling to her feet. mera shoves through people, making her way to her room. she needed her bag and she needed a plan.
You look out, trying to make sense of all this chaos to try and see where you help would be most needed but everything is happening to fast for you to perceive.
You do however see black, thick smoking rising from the other side of town, the attackers were moving rapidly through the town, burning as they came. To your right you see a group of the towns militia directing everyone to the keep. The captain, a large man with a long dark beard, bellows over the chaos " EVERYONE TO THE KEEP, LEAVE EVERYTHING AND HASTEN TO THE KEEP. WE ARE UNDER ATTACK- MOOOOVE!!!"
You head back into the inn, pushing past people going the other way. you can smell smoke on the air now and the eye on your back, ever watchful..
Lost in your scrambled thoughts, you forget to look up and run straight into something larger and smelly...
"What the ****!?" the large man turns to look at you, the same man from before, the one who was laughing at the serving boy.
the scene Infront of you- You see 2 of the sellswords holding the inn keep on his knees. The Inn keeper was bleeding from a cut above his brow as he struggled against his captors. The young serving boy was also there, still bleeding from his nose, held by a singular man. The inn keepers daughter struggled with 2 other sell swords as they attempted to bind her legs and hands..everyone else had left the inn.
"Well, well, what do we have here?" chuckled the fat man as he stared down at you. "Grab this little ***** as well, im sure those raving priests would love ere to"
The sounds of havoc drowned out any thoughts as instinct completely took over. The screaming, the crying.... the complete panic, it overwhelms him, the people a blur as they push past. He quickens his pace as he looks to the sky, a shiver running down his spine when he finds himself under the watchful gaze. Snapping his head back down he follows the mad crowd, but stops in his tracks when he sees a defenceless young girl, no more than 8 or 9 wandering in circles, tears painting her young face as she is shoved left and right by the flood of people. “Here sweetheart” he picks her up and holds her close to him “let me get you to safety”
mera was about to lose it. She was living her nightmare, it was real.
'mera you're in control, just, just focus-'running into the man disturbed her scrambled thoughts that it took her a second to process where she was and the scene in front of her. Seeing the inn keepers victimised was enough to put her on the edge of losing the only control she had left. But the one thing she hated more than people being victimised was herself being a victim. And so when the men started to walk towards her, and she felt the eye watching her, always watching her, and its screech; mera lost it. Throwing her arms out, she lets out a strangled scream, 'LEAVE ME ALONE!'
a thunderous force erupts from her
(mera is casting thunder wave. Each creature in a 15-foot cube radius must succeed on a constitution saving throw of 12. On a failed save, they take 2d8 thunder damage and are pushed 10 feet back. If successful then they take half the damage but aren't pushed back. once mera casts it, she wants to tell the inn keepers to run then herself go and grab her bag')
(side note- mera is really panicked as she is literally living her nightmare. Perhaps she would have thought more before acting but i wanted to show how scared and panicked she was :p)
“Edger, keep up please. It’s very disappointing that you are acting so childish, honestly it’s like you expect me to do everything myself?” She huffs as her servant trails along behind her, carrying everything but the book in her hand.
“Wise of you not to reply,” she says when Edger doesn’t make a sound. “Now, let’s run through the plan again. We will make it to the Inn first and sound the announcement that I have arrived as the doors blow open. That’s when the sparks will shower over these poor peasants as I, Princess Freja walk in. You will unfold the carpet at my feet as I enter, and then I will ask where to find the head of the city and see what he knows. Understood?”
After a few seconds of silence, Freja turns around to see Edger standing still and beginning to look hazy. With an eye roll, she walks over to him, “I apologise, well done,” and pats him on the back before placing the book on the pile in his hands and continues walking forward.
They could see the outskirts of the town now. Concentrating as she walks, Freja throws the glittering gold piece in her hand into the air, watching it in awe as it floats, then catches it again. A proud smirk dances across her face before an excited giggle escapes her lips. “Finally! I did it!”
Throwing it up again, a distant thunder sounds instantaneously as the gold piece disconnects with the tips of her fingers. As it falls back into her palm and disappears into a puff of golden sparks, the wind drifts past her ears and flirts with her hair; bringing with it a low rumble of malicious chanter. Creepy she thinks with a puzzled expression, turning to face the direction of the chanting - Greenest. Suddenly, a streak of light shoots through the night sky, illuminating the town before them in an eerie purple glow. A deafening boom causes her to bring her hands to cover her ears; before a blood curdling screech sends chills through her body. Looking up at the sky, her hands fall to her sides, “cool,” she breathes in amazement at the purple eye hovering above the town.
“Looks like we’re in the right place Edger,” she breaks into a wide grin as her servant finally catches up and stands beside her.
A harsh, lingering ache rushes through her mind, “Alright! Alright!!,” she snaps. Turning to Edger, “Daddy is impatient,” she mocks, kissing his cheek as he disappears. Catching her pack in one hand, and the book in the other as they begin to fall from where Edger held them, she shoves the book into the pack and slings it over her shoulder.
“I’ll go get your prize.” She smirks as she makes her way towards the chaos, an evident excitement emitting off her.

Cosima watches everything unfold. No emotion passes over her face, however all this noise has disturbed her inner peace and she is no longer humming.
She fiddles with her dragon bracelet. "We must have more practice with you my badness" she mentally tells it.
She looks around the room taking everything in and stopping at the door, wondering how long Leosin expected her to wait for.

Cosima brings her mind into focus, able to block out all the inn's sounds. Very clearly, chanting coming from outside.
"Hmm. Leosin hasn't bought the whole temple along has he" she thought.
Papa's soup was taking its time and she was getting restless in the presence of these filthy men.
Cosima walks to the door, her footsteps light and composure graceful.
