OOC - Easiest way to avoid that is make sure you have all the 'flavor text' before you do a roll. As shifting the roll with text after it's been 'calculated' causes that error. Sometimes putting a roll in () works but not always. Also possibly putting all rolls in a spoiler. OOC - Xolkin Nadaar, Nadia, Gran, Zafaris, Kella and finally Zack. <-- Based on that, I'm assuming all that's left are Xolkin and Kella in active combat.
Zack Shifts enough to not be struck by the horse as it flies by, shouting so that he'd hopefully be heard by Gran Not saying you have to fight...! But you really gonna just leave her like that just after you two found each other again? At-least stay within the city, ya *****! (Persuasion: 14)

His eyes flashing as he watches the shadow of Kella fly up the stairs Still not quite as I intended... but.. two on one, they should be fine...he thought to himself. Finally, shifting to face Xolkin and move towards him at a menacing pace. His face darker, and more serious than anyone there had ever seen it. Firm, Resolute. Yes. Joining the Zhents was a dumb move on your part, you might have survived today otherwise. Zack hefts his blade at a forward angle, where it's sheer size can be seen in full. The blood from the Teifling shining in the dim lighting, dripping to the floor, while his eyes remained locked directly to Xolkins'. I forgot to mention. My old friend... Xolkin stares at you as you approach without a hint of fear in his eyes. He seems to be ready for anything you might do or say. He skillfully moves to the side dodging the large blade easily. You follow through to attack again, and it looks as though you might hit, but at the last second Xolkins short sword comes up and knocks your blade off it's intended path, causing it to just miss Xolkin. The move is quite impressive, given the difference the size of your blades, it's clear this is not Xolkins first time doing this. He quickly pulls out a dagger with his off hand, and makes three strikes in rapid succession, twice with the short sword and finally, when you're focus on the short sword a dagger comes in from where you least expect it Attack: 18 Damage: 6Attack: 8 Damage: 9Attack: 11 Damage: 4The short sword swings slash an X across your chest as the dagger comes in and stabs you in the side, near the spot the goblin stabbed you earlier. "Without us how many people would be begging in the gutter? You think because you wave around that big sword that makes you a big man? No such luck kid, you'll regret killing my friend." he shifts his position to the side of you and hops over the wooden fence so he is outside the pen and in the stables proper, he remains behind you.
(Xolkin used his parry reaction for +2 ac so that's his reaction for the round. Zack is now blocking the doorway to the pen and Xolkin is behind him. Everyone else is in the same spot as previous post. Nadaar is up)

ZACK: Xolkins blades come in fast but they either miss or bounce off your armor. You can see that as he came into attack he winced with sudden pain, likely from whatever Nadaar did. It seems to be throwing him off his balance but he quickly composes himself before moving.

Despite every draconic instinct in the blood urging Nadaar to strike fleeing prey, claws are kept in check at the last second. Everything that happens is almost too fast for the dragonborn. Not so fast that Kella's "insult" for outright ignoring him did not go unnoticed, or would go unpunished. Rising up to his full height, and with every word, the lingering stench of his breathe weapon continues to radiate, the Dragonborn breaks out a longsword at last in one hand and says, "Language, young lady!" With that, he breaks out his longsword in one hand, but goes lashes out with the other in attempt to grab her by either the throat or head before bodily pick her up. From there he pulls her away from Nadia grimacing, and step by step, walks her over so that she dangled over the edge.
Yet, he does not drop her. Instead, he holds her just far enough to the side of himself for Nadia. "Lady Nadia. If you would be so kind as to shoot her again. That would be most appreciated." He says politely, but through clenched teeth. Even if the shot lands, he keeps the hold, gradually increasing the pressure on whatever he gets a hold of until the light leaves Kella's eyes. But unlike with Gran, no pleas of surrender or begging to just be let go is met only with cold disdain.
Action: Nadaar attempts to Grapple - Athletics: 14 vs Kella's Strength(Athletics) or Dexterity(Acrobatics).

When Gran’s words met her ears, her aim quickly switched to Kella and she let loose a devastating arrow, rendering the other blind in one eye. She surprised even herself with that shot, and she smiled wickedly at the satisfaction she felt. The elf watched Gran ride off, even despite his fresh wounds, and she only hoped if he made it out alive, that he would return to the place where they met and started his life anew.
However she was caught by surprise at Kella’s attack. The ***** was quick, and her blades drew blood, but it wasn’t anything Nadia couldn’t handle. Close combat wasn’t exactly her forte though, and she shot Nadaar a quick thank you for easily pulling the other off her. She pulled back another arrow at her now hanging target. “I don’t think she needs her other eye, right, Nadaar? Let’s see if I get lucky.”
The shot strikes Kella right in the other eye, however this time theres no scream if pain, as she immediately goes limp in Nadaars hands. From outside you all hear the sound of horses rushing your way. The others must know something is up after Gran returned near death. They'll be upon you soon.

Your sword comes down and Xolkin tries to avoid it, but you manage to get a decent hit on him, however your sword almost bounces off his skin, like trying to hit stone or steel. The most recent wounds even appear to close as if by magic! "... Hang in there." He flashes a toothy grin to the human, then turns a glare upon Xolkin as the man tried to find the strength to stand once more.

He mocks, and then like a proverbial mic, drops Kella off to his side by the loft. After all, if the Zhents were resourceful enough to give one man preternatural resilience, reviving the fallen in combat couldn't be too far out of the wheel house..

Nadaar, you see Xolkin is so focused and visibly upset at the sight of Kellas corpse being tossed to the side that he seems dead to your taunts the their magic fail to take hold. On the bright side however some of Zacks wounds start to mend themselves from the magic healing, so all is not lost.
There was no remorse when she shot her arrow, only satisfaction, especially when Kella’s body was so carelessly tossed off to the side. When Xolkin’s words reached her ears, she cocked a brow and brought herself a little closer to the edge, and while she readies another shot, she says with a grimace. “If you think I’m gonna be your little trophy, you got another thing coming.”
As Xolkin is trying to get up he is pushed back down by and arrow striking him in the thigh. Much like Zacks strikes up till now, the attack isn't as effective as one would hope. Xolkin barely moves and the arrow falls out of his leg on it's own.
Zack is up, Xolkin is still prone on the ground so all your melee attacks have advantage.
Zack looks up as he see's the oncoming Zhents. With a distinct lack of Gran. Hmm... did he warn them to come here or did they simply see him and come? he wondered idly as he was resetting his swords position, making sure that he had a solid footing as he made his way over to the leader, Xolkin. He made his way to the side of Xolkins body for a better angle, and as he looked at the on-comers, with the way Zacks hair was, and the seriousness of his expression, gave him a wolf-like appearance, with his sword as his fang, dripping the blood it had from the Teifling, who's lifeless body was outside.
Wordlessly, his view shifted back to Xolkin, bringing his sword to bear, he would swing towards the lower half of Xolkins body, near where Nadia's arrow had struckIt's about time we finished this hmm? Nothing will save you. Don't worry.. I'll bury you with your precious Kella.. With a heavy overhead chop straight down, Zacks blade came down with as much force as he could muster. Xolkin lies on the ground holding himself up with one hand. He looks up to you as you and stares at you and nods at the mention of finishing this. As you blade comes down Xolkin rolls out of the way but not in time to avoid the hit. Your blades glances off his flesh like stone but draws blood. In the same motion he pushes himself to his feet keeping both weapons in hand. "I'll give ya this kid, you are good. If I hadn't taken that potion I'd say things would be not looking to good for me. But you're out of luck, whatever you do will be like trying to hit a steel door. Meanwhile when I cut you, your flesh will giveway to my blades." He looks behind him towards the elf and the human who are dismounting behind him, about 10 ft away. "And I'm not alone anymore it seems. So I hope you don't have anyone waiting for you to come home, if you do, I'll make sure to send them your regards personally." With that he comes in for another three pronged attack, two strikes with a sword and he tries to come in with the dagger from a different angle. Attack: 18 Damage: 4Attack: 15 Damage: 9Attack: 10 Damage: 6
(One bane roll since two miss- 2 - New score is 16 for attack #2 so still hits albeit just barely)
The first strike is predictable and easily blocked. The second strike looks to be a feint for the dagger coming in from the side so you go to block the dagger while hoping to move away from the sword, however Xolkin is able to hit you just before you manage to dodge the blow. His sword cuts down the length of you left arm from elbow to wrist, though the blow is not debilitating.
From the opposite end of the stables, the back door suddenly swings open as its kicked in by the dwarven Zhent. He rushes the ladder and climbs to the top. Taking stock of everyone in the room, he see's Nadaar and Nadia with their backs turned to him and pulls out his cross bow. He moves 5ft forward and shifts his aim between Nadia and Nadaar, before apparently deciding the Dragonborn is the more dangerous threat and letting loose a bolt. Attack: 4 Damage: 8
However the bolt goes wide, hitting the far wooded wall on the opposite side of the room. The Dwarf curses himself as he prepares his next attack.
(Nadaar is up. We'll see if our dwarven friend even survives an entire round to make a "Next attack". the dwarf is about 20ft away, towards the back and away from the fight between Zack and Xolkin. He used his full movement to get up, instead of dashing to get closer just to die he obviously made a shitty attempt at hurting someone just to die.)
"Ah! Why hello, friend! So good of you to join us! Though Lady Nadia, continue showing our soul'ja boy support. I'll handle the other gentlemen." He says with uncharacteristic ease and a pat on her shoulder in passing. As the dragonborn approaches the dwarf, the smile slowly dims into a ghost of a grin. "You know it's too bad. I have always wanted to learn more about your people."He admits, passing his longsword from hand to hand absently along the way. "But C'est la--" The words are cut off there as Nadaar bursts at the five foot mark between them, aiming to split the dwarf down the middle in one fell swoop.
If the dwarf falls, he backs away from the edge, leery of another Zhents arrival and attempt to start peppering him from the ground. Though.. there was only the dragonborn left, wasn't it? "Oh my -- Watch out for the red down there, Soul'ja boy!"
Action: [Two-Handed]Longsword Attack: 18 Damage: 5 slashing at dwarf.

From the rear of the building, Krul, the red dragonborn, walks into the stables and looks over to the 1v3 fight between Zack and the Zhents. He then turns his attention to the loft and starts climbing the ladder. Nadaar, shortly after you strike the dwarf you hear someone coming up the ladder. The red scaled arm of the Dragonborn Zhent grabs the top of the landing with a strong slam as he pulls him self up. The Red stands on the top of the landing staring you down with pure hatred, only the dwarf separates the two of you. He starts to go for his sword but then stops, moves to the side of the dwarf. You see a orange glow coming from the back of his throat quickly rushing up into a torrent of flame right in your face.

With a load roar of anger from the red, a torrent of flames burst from his maw at Nadaar and Nadia. Bits of dry hay and wood quickly ignite from the fire, causing a small fire to start in the loft. The horses below, who were already worked up, start to panic and neigh loudly at the presence of fire.
Zack is up. You are surrounded on three sides, the only side you are clear on is to your left, towards the now burning loft. The Dwarf and the red are blocking the back ladder that leads to and from the loft, the ladder up front, closest to you, is clear. The Stables are now on fire, though the fire is small for now it's likely to spread due to the abundance of fuel to burn, especially up in the loft where all the dry hay is kept.

'cause you'll be dead, having thrown a fit!
*Nadaar chuckles*
That's right! I'm calling ya a *****!
And just like this one--
Nadaar gives Kella's corpse a brief shake.
You'll be left in a ditch."
He mocks, and then like a proverbial mic, drops Kella off to his side by the loft. After all, if the Zhents were resourceful enough to give one man preternatural resilience, reviving the fallen in combat couldn't be too far out of the wheel house..
Bonus Action: Nadaar drops a healing word on Zack, healing for 5 Hp.
Action: Nadaar follows up with some Vicious Mockery on Xolkin, Wisdom Save(DC 13) or take 2 psychic damage and disadvantage on its next attack.

Nadia is up
There was no remorse when she shot her arrow, only satisfaction, especially when Kella’s body was so carelessly tossed off to the side. When Xolkin’s words reached her ears, she cocked a brow and brought herself a little closer to the edge, and while she readies another shot, she says with a grimace. “If you think I’m gonna be your little trophy, you got another thing coming.”
Bonus action: Shifting Hunters Mark on Xolkin
Action: Attack: 27 Damage: 11
Extra damage: 1
Wordlessly, his view shifted back to Xolkin, bringing his sword to bear, he would swing towards the lower half of Xolkins body, near where Nadia's arrow had struck It's about time we finished this hmm? Nothing will save you. Don't worry.. I'll bury you with your precious Kella.. With a heavy overhead chop straight down, Zacks blade came down with as much force as he could muster. (Athletics for flare: 19)
Attack: 24 Damage: 12
Occassional Dungeon Master.
I have always wanted to learn more about your people." He admits, passing his longsword from hand to hand absently along the way.
(To Rai: Hope you still got Second Wind, because I only got one more healing word in me. And I'm saving that for /if/ someone goes down.)

As you arch the sword down the dwarf flinches back and turns away. Your blade cuts through part of his armor cutting him below the shoulder blade. He gives a low grunt of pain before turning back to you and mumbling a string a curses. Though they seemed to be directed at himself more than anything as he fiddles with the crossbow.
Nadia is up. Right now from Nadias position the only targets would be the dwarf or Xolkin
When Nadaar mentions he’ll take care of Xolkin’s reinforcements, Nadia gives him an affirming nod and continues to back up Zack as she aims a shot at the leader.
Attack: 26 Damage: 10
Hunters Mark Damage: 1

Your arrow finds its target, striking Xolkin in the chest but the arrow bounces off after drawing blood. From behind Xolkin the other human Zhent rushes in and stops behind Zack and attempts to slash him across the back Attack: 6 Damage: 4 The hit is especially effective from behind, cutting a long deep gash across Zacks back. The Elven Zhent comes in next from outside rushing to Xolkins side, rushing forward with sword in front going for a thrusting attack. Attack: 13 Damage: 2 However Zack recovers from the previous blow quickly and hits the sword aside.
Dex Save for Nadaar=5 Dex Save for Nadia who is just in range=18 (DC12 - potential of 5 or half on a success)
