The death of an old man doesn't concern Ashissa but Hadar's actions does. She keeps what she knows at the back of her mind while telepathically ordering Baku to have a closer look on what is happening inside the Great Hall along with finding Erin's corpse.
Meanwhile, Ashissa squats down and tries to communicate with the large dog. She inwardly sighs that this would be easier if it was large snake instead. Nevertheless, she makes an enchanting smile before speaking.
"Do you have anything interesting to show for me Tunist?"
Baku finds a better vantage point to view the inside of the Hall and sees a surprised Hadar face a volley of arrows from above, being skimmed by one along the arm. Ashissa had seen Erin's body had been placed under a canvas tarp with the rest of the dead, near the back of the Hall, and Baku now finds this information useful.
It looks deeper into the hall and sees that ten feet back from the door everything is swallowed by complete darkness. There appears to be about about 5 feet of lighted area, still illuminated by the few torches on the walls that leads down the sides of the dark sphere towards the back of the, and it looks like the rafters may have some clear spots as well.
Meanwhile, the Mastiff grumbles at Ashissa and plants a huge, slobbery lick across her face, before lightly clamping her mouth around Ashissa's forearm and giving her a gentle tug. It seems that Ashissa's innate Animal Friendship magicks have worked swimmingly on this cuddly giant. Tunist runs off at a full sprint, jowls flapping in her own jetstream and plunges head first into the Darkness.
As Hadar crosses the threshold, he notices that about 10 feet into the Hall, he is faced with an inky blackness his vision cannot pierce. around the edges of the dark cloud, he can pick out details of the rafters and walls, but all else remains in shadow.
From directly above his head, Hadar hears a raspy chuckle. "You look like one who is familiar with the darkness, Stalker. You seem a bit pale for an orc... are you ill?"
A glance up to the ceiling would reveal a massive, black spider like form with a humanoid shape sprouting from where a spider's head would be hanging upside down from the rafters. The creature has the chiseled features and torso of an elf, with obsidian skin and long white hair hanging down towards the floor across its face. All of that information is rather less interesting than the longbow pointed down at Hadar's upturned face, 3 arrows knocked on the bow between 4 of the thing's fingers.
Hadar knows exactly what this Monstrosity is - a Drider: the cursed rejects of Drow society. This does not bode well...
The Drow face smiles as the hand releases its grip on the bowstring, 3 obsidian points of razor ripping towards the Ranger.
Two of the arrows go wide, burying themselves into the sand near Hadar's feet, the other arrow grazes his arm, taking out a chunk of flesh before meeting the ground. He feels the sting of even more poison enter his veins.
With that, the Drider runs along the rafters and dives into the black Sphere, landing out of view.
Hadar takes 3 Piercing and 2 Poison Damage - Added to Sheet
Growling to himself for being so easily surprised, Hadar flinches at the wound. What the hell had Leann done to bring a Drider here. Shall we kill it, or shall we try something different, before killing it.
The poisoned half-orc takes cover behind the former crate plug and says in Undercommon, "Master Drider, well played. That volley was entirely unexpected, and you are correct, I am familiar with the darkness and not myself today. Though, you seem to be out of place here, as well. Perhaps, we can help each other handle this situation to our mutual benefit? My time with your people allows me a certain skill set that would be of use to you. In other words, the sun is not your friend, but I can be."
Hadar waits for a reply, but evaluates his options, if the Drider doesn't take him up on his offer.
Leann decides a bit of prudance is in order. She decides to test if the darkness if due to her own sight loss or if she can move out of it. She heads in one direction, away from the sound of combat. Before she moves she casts
Leann can here the bowstring snap after an evil voice speaks to someone whom she can only assume must be Hadar. Letting her powers well within her, she feels the icy reassurance of the Armor of Agathys cover her in its protection as she moves away from the sounds of Hadar and the Drider crashing around... only to begin bumping into crates and ultimately feeling her free hand against the back wall.
It sounded almost as if the awful monstrosity was moving back toward her...
5 Temp Hit Points Added to your sheet. 5 Frost Damage will be applied to the Drider if it strikes you.
She realizes this means she is about 30 feet from the front door. She had been around half way through the building when the Darkness had enveloped her, so she should have moved outside of the spell's effect. This can only mean that the statue, still webbed firmly to her, must be generating the Darkness.

Hadar waits for a reply, but evaluates his options, if the Drider doesn't take him up on his offer.
The Drider can be heard chuckling from what still sounds like the rafters of the Hall, although Hadar cannot see it any more than it can see him.
"And what would someone like you be able to offer someone like me? Have you walked the tunnels of the Underdark, suffering the wrath of Lolth and the hatred of all you encounter? I have been imprisoned for what might be centuries, little Orcling. I have had much time to plan the devastation I wish to bring upon this plane. Unless you can take me to those who imprisoned me, I have very little interest in your survival. It's nothing personal, really." It lets out another low laugh, this one sounding too much like the clicking of spider fangs for comfort.
As the Drider speaks, the darkness seems to shift, moving in a cloud towards the back of the Hall. As Leann reaches the back wall, half of the room can now be seen (darkness emanating 15 feet into the room from her location). The Drider works its eight, spiny legs rhythmically back with the Darkness, deftly climbing along the rafters toward the back of the room.
Stopping just short of the middle of the ceiling, several feet from the edges of the dark Void, it pulls the hair out of its face, bundling it through an amulet which hangs around its neck, creating an oddly usable mix of a hair band and an uncomfortable looking choker. Both blood red eyes now gleam in the torchlight, locking on Hadar.
"Ori'gato uns'aa kyorl dos" it mutters as it waves its fingers in little waves towards Hadar, illuminating him in sizzling, strangely bright obsidian flame.
"Speak your piece, Friend, but be quick or be dead."he looks quizzically behind Hadar at the large Mastiff as it approaches Hadar from behind, slowing from a full run to a low stocking gate, sniffing heavily and angling towards the dead Mordecai.
Faerie Fire - Each object in a 20-foot cube within range is outlined in blue, green, or violet light (your choice). Any creature in the area when the spell is cast is also outlined in light if it fails a Dexterity saving throw. For the duration, objects and affected creatures shed dim light in a 10-foot radius. Any attack roll against an affected creature or object has advantage if the attacker can see it, and the affected creature or object can’t benefit from being invisible.
Your turn again Hadar - make a Dex save against Faerie fire, DC 13.

Fog Cloud - You create a 20-foot-radius sphere (120ft) of fog centered on a point within range. The sphere spreads around corners, and its area is heavily obscured. It lasts for the duration or until a wind of moderate or greater speed (at least 10 miles per hour) disperses it.
He then gathers himself to respond, "I too have traveled the tunnels of the Underdark, been hated for merely existing, and bore the confinement of being a slave since birth. I may not have the centuries, but we have a shared experience, a shared desire for destruction." Continuing, "You scuttle back into the shadows at the mere notion of the light, but I can go where you cannot. My use is obvious, allow me to be your hand when the suns are up."
Hadar pauses as if thinking, "Another obvious use, right now, I can either help you escape and take you to cover or I can help kill you. Nothing personal, like you said, just a choice to make. The outcome is up to you." He makes his final play, "From there, I assure you our agreement will continue to be of worth, almost immediately. Do you have any idea when you are? Is the sun still whole in your mind?"
Knowing there is a drider inside the sphere of darkness and cloud of smoke attempting to conceal its presence thanks to Baku's senses, Ashissa is confident she'll be effective even under this dire situation.
She positions herself at the farthest range her beam of crackling energy can be effective while letting Baku telepathically scout inside to inform her of the monstrosity's exact location.

Leann wraps her gauntlet, and the object in it, in a cloth.
Leann can hear two voices having a gruff conversation regarding the favors they could do for each other, but it doesn't really have a lot of context for her at this point. One voice is very nearby, the other sounds like it may be on the other end of the building.
As she covers the figurine, the Darkness folds in on itself along with the covering, the air becoming bathed in a foggy light as the dark subsides.
There is a dense cloud of fog filling the other end of the Great Hall and the doorway is completely obscured, leaving most of the Great Hall shadowy.
The creature is immediately obvious, hanging upside down from the rafters, just a few feet away; she now sees the creature's true form. While she is not familiar with this monstrosity, there can be no doubt that its intentions are evil. It appears to be a giant spider at its base, possibly 8 feet wide without spreading its legs too far. From head to foot, it may be 7 feet tall... the thing is massive.
It is becoming aware of the darkness completely disappearing, while partially distracted by the appearance of the fog.
Tunist finds the body of Mordecai to be troubling and whines as he prods the corpse with his nose. She growls and yips, sniffing heavily before turning to look at Hadar.
She lets out a low, gravely growl ending in a high pitched, short howl. With that she begins barking aggressively, spittle flying from her jowls.
Kat and the rest of the villagers become alert to Tunist's distress. Rob and Eriana move towards the door, coming around the corner just as the fog cloud completely obscures the entire scene. They stop just short of it, hearing the hound within escalate her racket with the added confusion.

As Baku sights the great spider beast on the rafters, it suddenly finds itself switching modes of vision into the regular spectrum of light as the Darkness completely retracts into Leann's palm. The soupy Fog blooms around Hadar and the Hound, filling over half of the great hall, yet again. Baku is still the only creature with vision in that murk, and so Ashissa is well aware of the locations of those inside and conversations under way.
Baku sees Leann standing near the back wall, composing herself it seems as she holds a cloth over her hand.
Hadar is by the front door behind a crate, attempting to continue his conversation with the monster while Tunist begins making a terrible racket.
As Ashissa approaches the Great Hall, she finds a good angle of attack, which is difficult given the location of the beast. She finds herself almost enveloped in the Fog, right along its edge. From here, the Blast should fly true.
Ashissa's spell comes crackling through the fog at high velocity and hits the Drider directly in its lower torso. It coughs up some bloody spittle and nearly drops the arrow it had knocked in its bow. It looks around quizzically adjusting its grip on the rafters. Glancing around quickly, it sees Baku flying nearby. It snarls and gives the little dragon evil grin.
9 Damage.
The drider gives a gurgling roar and steps forward with one leg, rotating its torso and drawing back the arrow, sighting Baku and powerfully drawing the string before letting fly.
