"Of course. I didn't so much mean to rush through the door, as hope that fight wasn't just a pointless trap. If we're safe here to take a rest, I'm all in favour. Or perhaps it would be worth going back to the area with the beds to rest and coming back once Meepo is recovered?"
"Meepo need rest." Meepo says, his anger at the not-door having been spent and his hand held tight to his side as he limps back to where all of his stuff still hovers on the floating disk. He moves over to a side of the room and takes a seat, as long as the group is ok to take a rest here.
"Anyone who can use a rest, take one now." Olin nods to Mordekai, "The rest of us will keep watch."
As the rest nears its end, Olin will begin ritually casting detect magic once again.
(I was just looking at my spell sheet and realized that both detect magic and guidance are concentration spells, so I can't have them both up at once. I'll be more careful about that going forward.)
At least the door / not-door was not in vain. There is indeed a room beyond it. Peaking in before going for a rest, they group sees a chandelier is suspended above a table in the middle of the room. Two high-backed chairs flank the table, which has an empty clay jug and two clay flagons atop it. Iron candlesticks stand in two corners, their candles long since melted away. A hall leads away on the far side, and one on the right, that likely leads, in a winding fashion, back to the intersection, leaving only this room and the hallway beyond as the unexplored areas of the houses underground level.
The group sits down and takes a load off to give Meepo a chance to collect himself. The basement is full of creaks, a deep grinding and shifting sound often heard, followed with the sprinkling of dust from the supporting beams. Occasionally you feel a sudden flush of heat, or hear the distant sound of crackling flames, but then you think it's your imagination in the silence. Eventually the party is ready to continue.
You move through the small eating area that is past the evil door, but a thorough search turns up nothing. Finally move down the last short hallway that leads into a bedroom. The bedroom is full of dust. A large wood-framed bed with a rotted feather mattress takes up most of the space, next to it sits a crumbling wardrobe. At the foot of the bed is a wooden footlocker that seems to have no lock.

After the rest Meepo is feeling much better and is ready to move onward.
As they enter the room, Meepo will make sure to shoot a crossbow bolt into the chest, and the bed, just in case. Only then will he approach to see what they have in them. "Meepo no like bad door..." He says as he moves in, assuming nothing happens as he shoots both items. He grumbles some more as he starts to look for lost things, his worry about that overshadowing his concern for his own safety.
Aga steps into the room to examine the wardrobe as a crossbow bolt shoots past and cracks through the bed and its musty mattress, sticking into the bedframe. Another thud comes as a bolt pierces through the chest. Seeing that Meepo appears to be done shooting the furniture, she opens the wardrobe. Several old black robes, threadbare hang there, matching the ones that the spirits down below wore. There is also a pair of iron candlesticks and an open crate, inside witch she sees a stack of torches, and a bag. Inside the bag are over a dozen candles.
Meepo opens the chest. There appears to be a folded up cloak, a small wooden coffer, a chain shirt, a mess kit, a flask, a bullseye lantern, a small folded leather wallet, and a book with a faded yellow leather cover.

"No bite Meepo." Meepo informs the things in the trunk as he starts to take them out. He studies each item as he removes it and puts anything that does not feel magical onto his floating disk. Magical items go into his pack for identification later. "No more lost..." He says as he empties the trunk.
Meepo picks up the chain shirt and puts it on the disk. (how much can this disk hold anyway?? lol...it must be getting pretty full!! so many bones!) He picks up the folded cloak, feeling its ultra smooth fabric under his fingers, a tingling sensation under his skin..he places that one in his backpack. He opens up the coffer. It holds four small glass vials with watery red transparent liquid in each that sparkles with energy. That goes into his backpack. Olin watches as the items with magical aura's get put into Meepo's backpack. Meepo opens the leather wallet. It's not magical, but it's a set of pick locks. Finally he flips open the yellow book. It appears to be full of arcane symbols and words. Meepo's eyes alight with the mysterious pages full of magical writings.
Meanwhile, Olin quests around with his thoughts and sense, trying to determine the sense of the evil. The house is definitely...wrong...and the mound down stairs, the spirits, but...there's something else and he can't put his finger on it.
Kane's lantern that he's been lugging around seems to darken. Voices seem to whisper around the halls and room. A blast of air carrying with it the smell of rotten flesh blows into the room, the lantern goes out and the room is cast into darkness. The air is filled with a sudden roar of pure anger and from the walls themselves two horrid cursed creatures burst through the clay into the room. In the sudden chaos their faces seem familiar, the mother and the father of the children, but their bodies are strangely hairless and muscular, their ears tipped, their fingers elongated into wicked claws. Their horrid stench of death and evil fills the room. From the the other room, you see a creature literally push it's way up through the floor, climbing to its feet, a mindless quest for death in its black eyes as it snarls and slobbers. Similar sounds can be heard from beyond the last room.

The putrid smell, filled with a sense of evil rushes into Aga and Mordekai's mouths and down into their lungs, filling their body with its tainted presence. As they prepare to battle, they fight off gags and a dizzy sensation in their mind. (Aga and Mordekai are both poisoned until their next turn, at which point they need to make a new save, which I think have disadvantage on??)

Tactical map:
Essentially Meepo, Aga, Mordekai, are in the 15 by 15 room which has a bed in the center, with the two undead parents in their midsts. Olin is in the short 5 foot hall between here and the room beside this one which has a table in it. Kane is in that room. An undead has crawled out of the floor in that room. The light has been blown out, it's dark.
The 'woman' attacks Mordekai, her claws raking out towards you. Attack: 18 Damage: 5
The 'man' doesn't even seem to pay attention to the diminutive Kobold and steps past him to attack Aga. Attack: 19 Damage: 12
Kane meanwhile, cast into darkness, hears the grunts and growls in the darkness as something attacks him. Attack: 23 Damage: 6
If you are struck by a creatures claw, please make a CON save.

"I thought we were going to find something. Perhaps it was that mass of living rot. I don't know. This doesn't make sense."
Insight check (tell me if it should be something else) to see if Olin can figure out the cause of the evil: 6

(Poisoned gives disadvantage on ability checks not on saving throws. So it depends if the ability description says they make a check or a throw.)
