She returns look with seriousness, "Sir, my name is Rosavalda. This is my little brother, Thornboldt. Our parents keep the monster trapped in the basement. Yes, that's our house, right there. It's in there. We don't want to go back into the house with a monster in there. We've never seen it, but we've heard it's horrible howls coming from below." Mordekai reaches out to place a comforting hand on each of their shoulders. "Don't worry. My friend and I will see what we can do. In the meantime, do you have other family? Is it just the four of you? Is there anywhere you can go, anyone you can stay with tonight?"

"House full lost things..." Meepo says solemly as he looks between the two kids, Mordekai, and the house. "Do monster make lost?" He asks, nearly at a loss to understand why so many things were just left scattered all over the place inside. He twitches at a need to go in and fix that right off, but manages to wait for his companion to talk to the little bigs. He had a reason for doing so Meepo was sure, but there were just so many lost things inside... The fog is not at all concerning to Meepo at this point. Moving towards the kids and Mordekai, he decides to check the kids for lost things, just in case this lost things monster got to them too...
Mordekai places his hand on the rough wool sweater she wears, the slippery silk of her cloaks collar smooth against his skin. She shakes her head, "There are five of us. We have a baby brother. He's upstairs...by himself in the attic.." She glances around the town, "No, we have no one to go to, but we can stay just on the porch, we will be safe there.."
Meepo finds nothing of interest on the children aside from their clothes, and the small bear that he boy is certainly careful not to misplace. Good for him thinks Meepo, taking care of his stuff.
(OOC: It's probably about 8pm.)
"Our parents were with us at supper. They went downstairs and we heard fearsome howls. They have not come back..."
Aga and Olin hurry through the thick fog, seeing the looming structures of the town emerge from the dark shadows. The muddy road is replaced by slick cobbles as they enter the town, glancing down alleyways, between buildings, and down side streets clouded by fog. The dark, silent town is eery with it's lack of life, as they press on seeking their friends who could have gone any which way at this point.

Meepo listens to the little bigs talk as he looked them over for lost things. He felt so proud of the male little big, and his carefulness of watching his stuffed animal. As he heard them speaking though he got more and more upset though. "Tiny big, big bigs, lost?" he asks in concern. "No say lost bigs..." He glances towards the house. Not only were there lost things scattered all over the place inside, but the bigs themselves were lost. He glances to Mordekai with a solem glance. "Meepo go in, come with?" He asks. "Rat look for both..." The zombie tressym comes winging around the corner of the house, somehow managing to stay aloft even though it nearly hits the fence as it flyes their way.

Mordekai looks up at the house, then back to the children. Something about the girl is troubling him. It's not that he doesn't necessarily believe her words, but something about her and her story is off. If there is a monster in the basement of the house as dangerous as she makes out, 2 questions occur to Mordekai: Firstly, how can she believe they'll be safe simply standing on the porch of the house? And secondly, why did an older sister who seems to care so deeply about the welfare of one younger brother leave an even smaller baby brother still upstairs in a house with a monster? He also notes that she didn't answer his question about her parents and what they do.
He looks to the boy and sees the seriousness of his face, the worry written across his solemn frown. Mordekai feels sympathetic towards their potentially tragic plight, but also recognises that children can sometimes fall victim to fears that are more in their heads than reality. He puts on his most reassuring warm smile, and doing his best not to appear condescending, says to the boy, "I'm sure that everything is ok. Often in life our minds amplify our worries and create tragedy where there is none. In my experience, most of the time the reality of our situation is never as bad as our fears."
Mordekai turns to Meepo. "Hold on, Meepo. If there is danger in the house, we need to know as much as we can." He turns back to the girl, "If we are to help you, it is important that we have all the information you can give us. Let me check I have the facts right. Your parents keep a monster trapped in the basement of your house. You have a baby brother upstairs. Your parents went downstairs just after supper, and you've not seen them since, but you've heard terrible howls." As she nods in confirmation (assuming she does), Mordekai continues, "They can't have been gone much more than an hour? And you say you've heard the howls before? What makes you so sure there's something different tonight; that something is wrong? And..." Mordekai thinks for a second about how to put this sensitively, "I mean no judgement on your actions, but why did you leave your baby brother upstairs when you left the house?"
Turning back to Meepo, Mordekai says, "People aren't as lost as it seems. Rosavalda knows where everyone is. She and her brother Thornboldt are out here with us, her parents are downstairs in the basement, and their baby brother is upstairs in the attic. Nobody is really lost. But it would be better if the children were all together."
Finally, Mordekai turns to the children. "If we are to help you and your parents, we need your courage. The monster you speak of is in the basement, and your baby brother is upstairs. He needs you, and you know your way around the house. It would be better for the three of you all to be together, and a baby brother like yours would surely be more reassured to be lifted from his bed by his loving older sister than a stranger in his house. One more act of courage is all I would ask of you. Meepo and I will stand watch here in the doorway. Go swiftly and quietly upstairs, and retrieve your baby brother from the attic. Bring him down so that the three of you might remain safe out here on the porch. Then Meepo and I will investigate this monster."
(Aga and Olin, you are searching the town and have excellent perception, so you will find them quickly, but, you were quite a ways behind them, and it's taking you a number of minutes to catchup. It wasn't until they started towards the house that Stanamir stepped out to warn you. And they've only been talking to the girl for maybe a minute, so, it's unlikely that you will arrive, no matter how good your perception scores are, before they've made a few more decisions.)
The girl seems very convinced by Mordekai's words, nodding along, falling into his thinking. But then...something about his request hits a solid wall in her mind. She shakes her head firmly. "No....the noises were worse then ever before, they...no..something bad happened, I won't go back in that house, even for my little brother..." She seems to hold her little brother more firmly, as she refuses to move closer to the house. The boy begins whimpering again.

Mordekai's unease increases at the girl's rather unnatural change of heart. "What would you have us do?" he asks cautiously.
Once she replies (whatever the content of that reply for now), Mordekai will take Meepo to one side and whisper very quietly, "What do you think? Something is not right here. It seems to me these children are not acting of their own free will. That or they are not children at all. The girl, at least, I don't fully trust. What do you want to do?"

"No lost..." Meepo says as he considers this new information. He guesses that is true, bigs know where they are, so shouldn't be lost anyway. he nods to himself as he considers this and decides it is true. He also has decided he is not a monster hunter after all, and, if the monster is suppose to be in the basement, then it is probably not lost either. The only thing of real concern to him right now is all of the items that could be lost, that Rat saw through the windows. Even those though are inside the big's house, so he is not as worried about those as he was to start.
"Meepo no know." meepo says at last as Mordekai takes him aside. He looks back to the kids, trying to figure out what Mordekai thinks is wrong with them.

"Meepo want go camp." He tells Mordekai in a soft voice. "But Meepo already say go house." He shrugs, not knowing what way to go now. He has lost his brave reaction as Mordekai has brought up ideas that cloud the issue.
"Meepo stay little bigs." Meepo says as Mordekai suggests getting the rest of their group for help. "Mord get camp." He nods as this seems like a very good idea to him. "Rat watch Meepo." Glancing to the zombie tressym he then says. "Rat, go look." He gestures up for the flying zombie to go up and keep an eye out from above the fog.
Mordekai turns to head back to camp, leaving Meepo with the children, to go get the others. The thick fog dampens all sound and his breathing is heavy to his own ears as his mind swirls about this place that seems to be playing tricks with his mind. As he reaches the center of town and turns right for the road back to camp, dark shapes comes stalking out of the fog towards him, looking ominous and moving with purpose. A small moment of panic subsides as Aga, Olin, and Kane (oops, sorry Kane!! lol) come marching out of the fog towards him.
Aga looks around, she has a concerned look on her lovely face that Mordekai is suddenly distracted by. She seems to blink in slow motion, her long eyelashes fluttering, a plume of white air escaped her finely shaped mouth. Time returns to normal and she presents Mordekai with a firm look, "Where's Meepo, he's in danger..."

Meepo, the fog is thick in the streets, it's cold dampness pressing against scales under his clothing. A chill runs up his spine. He watches as the dark form that is Mordekai fades away in the haze. Rat flaps hap hazardly into the sky to perch on the top of the house. The thicking fog is slowly swallowing up the sky, but for the moment, Rat has an excellent view from above.
The small boy is sniffling and moaning. The girl looks back where Mordekai had vanished, then towards the house, then back at Meepo, then back to her brother. She pulls him tighter in the cold fog, and then locks eyes with Meepo. Her eyes have a certain intensity that wasn't there a moment before, as if she has something very important to say, and she whispers to Meepo... "I think...I think I lost my bracelet inside...I can't find it anymore...."
(OOC: I don't mean to be a pain, but Mordekai wasn't about to leave Meepo by himself outside the house, particularly given his suspicions of the girl. I suspect the most likely course of action may have been that we'd have waited around for Rat to take a look, then, having run out of other options both entered the house - DragonDenn could confirm or deny that likely outcome? Sorry, I didn't get a chance to make a decent post before now, and if you'd rather continue in the way you just wrote it for the sake of getting us all back together quicker and into the house, I'm fine to go with that, but Mordekai was about to tell Meepo it wasn't a good idea and to wait to see if Rat saw anything)
