<Squelch> places his hand on Bartholomew's shoulder. <Young female's voice> "Welcome aboard, darling!" He then jumps back on the back of the wagon and gestures towards the ale and shrugs. <Brandor's voice> "It'll be a while afore I can make more."

As you all converse and become further acquainted, the oxen stir and begin to slow for the first time. As the cart pulls around the bend, Grum notices two dead horses sprawled on the ground about fifty feet ahead, blocking the path. Each have several black-feathered arrows sticking out of them. The woods press close to the trail here, with a steep embarkment and dense thickets on either side.
(As a previous bandit my background let's me recognize banditry patterns and blend in as a bandit if needed. Does this seem like the sort of thing I'm familiar with or does it seem more like goblins/gnolls/orc that sort of thing?)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Bartholomew is going to move towards the horses and is going to look at them (using Perception) to see if there are any interesting features about the horse carcasses.
<Squelch> hops towards Grum. <Bell Ringing> He does a quick scan of the woods. Perception: 23. He then starts piling some of the cargo calmly to make a makeshift barricade and rests his crossbow on it.

(Just to confirm, are you getting out of the cart?)
Even from inside the cart, you are able to see two saddle bags and a brown leather map case. The map case has a small splatter of blood on it, but you see no dead bodies other than those belonging to the horses.
(Depends on if I think it's bandits or not. Does it look like bandits, i.e. humaniod highway men or does it just look like people killing/pillaging on the road?"
Callie's eyes flick back and forth across the scene of the dead horses, and then to the nearby trees, looking for any sign of whatever did this. She knocks an arrow on her bowstring, ready to draw and loose at a moment's notice.
(Sorry Brandor, I didnt see your post for whatever reason)
You are unfamiliar with these arrows, they seem makeshift and not the type of quality you would find used by typical bandits. You are familiar with this sort of ambushing tactic, but you have no knowledge of the specifics behind this particular attack. You could make an Intelligence check to determine more if you wish.
Callie you dont notice anything extra to what Bartholemew saw but you remain prepared, clutching your bow.
The thickets are an extension of the forest -- they are connected but the parts closer to the trail seem more thick and much closer to the path than it has been for the journey so far.
Brandor you understand that this attack is relatively common. Usually these types of attacks are either used to capture, kill or enslave travelers on the road. You also note that these arrows are makeshit entirely, and while many bandits forge their own weaponry, these arrows are even more further from traditional ones and less effective in their make, indicating that these could not have been made by humans but rather probably by someone/something less intelligent.
Bartholemew, before you cast your spell, when you walked up to the horses two arrows had fired at you: Attack 1 - 5 Damage 1 - Attack: 12 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.Attack 2 - 22 Damage 2 - Attack: 19 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
(I was waiting to see if Grum was up, but here we go!)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Well, I did those dice wrong but I wrote the 'Attack 1-' and 'Attack 2 -' so we will use those values, ignore the extra. So: Attack 1 - 5, Damage 1 - 3 Attack 2 - 22, Damage 2 - 8

You don't see much either Squelch, other than the dead horses and the growing shadows of the dense forest.

(Yes, I am getting out of the cart and moving over to about 5 ft behind the horses)
Alright, whats everyone else doing?
