Once done with the kids, Qivys will follow Boko to this "portal". "Are ya sure they went through this thing?" he asks Boko. "I ain't in no shape ta battle the forces in all hell right now." he states. He will assist Boko in her investigation of this spot.
Can she poke her head in the two unlocked rooms upstairs to make sure there’s nothing there?
Peering into the room off the kitchen on her way downstairs, Boko spots a formal dining room: a long, old-fashioned chamber suited for nobility, with an expensive-looking dining table set with a crimson red cloth, golden plates and cutlery, and crystal wine glasses. There are three place settings, ready for service.
Peering into the room off the parlor, Boko sees the foyer – a large entry room, with old, ornate, and expensive furniture. A grand, unlit fireplace sits against the left wall, with a portrait of a building hung above it that looks similar in its geometry to this building, albeit in a much more civilized-looking setting. She also sees the front door.
And is there a way of seeing if the rune can be repaired?
Back in the portal room, Boko (with Qivys' help) examines the strange, damaged runes. Repairing these runes looks perhaps a little out of her league - a combination of masonry and complex arcana. And she knows neither how this will operate, fixed, nor how it will, broken. She would need some stoneworking tools (and a high DC arcana check) to start.
Qivys will help as much as he can. "I ain't tha one that has tha know how of magic runes an' tha like. That was more Dwal's department." he says. Qivys looks the place over the best he can. "Welp," he says, not to happy with what is to come next. "If'n this is tha only way, I'll go with ya, inta the..wherever this leads." He takes a deep breath. "But ifn end up dead cause of this I'm gonna find a way ta haunt those three fer it" he says in a huff.
“I have no tools to work with stone, nor the knowledge of how to change it, if it needs changing. I do not see another way to find additional friend or foe in this place. I do not want to go in there but I will,”Boko says.
She offers her arm to escort the cleric in the portal, if he wants to go in with her. She brandishes her spear, the butt end still glowing with daylight, and before she hits the rune border she casts protection from evil and good on herself.
Qivys silently vanishes, a look of sudden alarm on his face in the moment he is violently pulled through the circle of stones into whatever void lay beyond.
Boko is alone in the flooded room, staring at the empty circle.
----- The party is scattered at sea. Some hours or weeks later (depending upon whom you ask), after a number of solo and small group misadventures, the party finally reunites. -----
Boko rests as their boat plays catch-up. She’s still not sure what is killing people on the main island.
When the Captain talks, and furrows her brow but presses on, wanting to talk to someone who knows the area but who might speak more plainly. “I am Boko, a companion of these lads. Arrived in much the same way, but later. That Rast nearly took me out but it is dead now. What do you know of dangers on Firewatch Island? Is it safe without Rast here now?”
"Persimmon to become a board captain?" The little kobold says with excitement. This was the first time he'd been involved in a successful mission. Full of energy he jumps from Peri's Ferry onto Qivys' shoulders then up to the railing of the larger vessel. He stands there waiting for the captain to OK his request.
"Captain!" Peri calls out as he ties alongside. "Allow me to introduce our friend, Boko.... Uh, I guess I don't really know your last name? But she's a capable sailor, a formidable druid, and most recently, the slayer of that winged menace Rasp. That's gotta be worth a ride back to town and a pint, eh? Boko, this is the captain, whose name I have also failed to get. It's been a busy day." He waits for the others to cross, then goes through his routine of climbing onto the side of the ketch and stowing the folding boat.
”A pleasure to see you alive and hale, Mistress Boko—and to hear you have defeated the fearsome Rasp is even more good news. Might you have some healing magic available for this poor sailor who hit his head in an unfortunate harpy-related accident?” asks Gerrard, indicating the unconscious sailor.
”I believe we have one more island to check out before returning past Firewatch. Then we can go back to port, or, I believe, the captain would like us to scout out the main island—for indeed there appear to be strange goings-on there,” he adds, looking to the captain for added detail.

Kerric Brightblade - Elven Warrior in "Apocalypse"
"You? Killed Rasp?" The captain looks at Boko skeptically. "You sure that wasn't an eagle? Or a bat? Has a stag head? Horns?" She doesn't wait for a reply.
"Hear ye!" she announces, turning to the rest of the party and crew, while signaling to Jax to draw in the mainsheet. "Next stop is Hektor's Island. We will be giving it wide berth. We will not be drawing any attention to ourselves. We are here for distant reconnaissance only. We do not need Hektor or his goons complicating our day. Then, we'll return here to Strawberry and wait for sunset and any risk of Rasp – dead or alive – harassing us. Everybody got it?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“You never asked, but my surname is Alcor,”she tells Peri.
She climbs aboard the ketch and nods to the captain, eyes scanning the crew and state of things - are things shipshape? If so she will continue her rest, seated (if not she will make herself useful to get things in order without permission). She nods to Gerrard and clasps forearms in greeting, asking in a whisper if everything is alright, how long he has been here, and if he knew that Bela has been staked and beheaded and also that the children were rescued from the castle and outside with Lankus before she and Qivys got sent here.
She casts healing word at second level on the sailor for 9, asking him what happened. She is getting tapped but is hoping for a rest onboard.
Then she turns to the captain and replies.
”Yes it had a stag head, vicious, and scary. It was much larger than the giant eagles I summoned to distract it while I set up on that tower. I shifted into a cave bear to battle it once it closed and eventually it fell, dead, to the ground, about there, near the building on that side, perhaps we can see it with a spyglass. Is it likely that it will be a risk to us dead? Captain…. whatever your name is… what is this place and why are you scoping it out? What is going on here? Why are there nets of dead bodies under the surf on the southern side of Firewatch? Why does the place seem deserted apart from the other fresh corpses strewn on the ground? That’s not a hermitage anymore. And will someone tell me what blasted day, or month it is??! We lost time getting sent here. I need to know how much. It is so warm and I do not think we are that far from Saltmarsh. So we could have lost a lot of time. The sahuagin threat may have passed, or the wave may have crashed onshore already. Could someone fill me in?”
She says this from a seated position, elbows propped on crossed knees, deeply exhausted, but eyes still somehow alert and probing.

Boko takes a look at fixing it

Boko refreshes her magical ward.
Are you stepping into the portal? Who's going first?
Qivys takes a breath.
"I'll see ya on tha other side." he tells Boko as he steps through.
Qivys silently vanishes, a look of sudden alarm on his face in the moment he is violently pulled through the circle of stones into whatever void lay beyond.

Boko steps in right alongside Qivys (sorry if that wasn’t clear!).
Boko vanishes; the room is empty.

"That was fast," remarks the captain, as Peri's small vessel pulls up alongside the two-masted fishing ketch. "Save the kingdom so soon?"
"We got a lucky break fer once." Qivys calls up to the Captain.
Boko rests as their boat plays catch-up. She’s still not sure what is killing people on the main island.
