Misha's genetic makeup prevented rebellion or dissension. It suppressed the concept of free will, independence, or individuality. It was the only way Bane could ensure loyalty among a race of super warriors teetering on the brink of being conquered themselves. Only once in the history of Acheron was it defied. She had to return home because her mind told her so. But, her heart.. How could this be? The smallest glimmer of doubt entered it. For a moment, it made her nervous. To defy Bane was inviting a thousand deaths, or worse. The notion was impossible. But..
I love my friends. I love them all. I want to be with them, always. What is this..emotion conflict..I am having? But..my home. The war. Is it wrong to miss them? What of my duty? My duty..?
No. I am Mischa. Legion Commander. Prime Paladin of Acheron. I serve The Lord General Bane in his eternal quest for Glory, and Honor. My world needs me. I will return, and fulfill the purpose I was made to perform. All hail.
But she drifted again.
Misha would outlive all of her friends. She knew this. Her body was programmed on a cellular level different that anyone she had ever met. This fact alone made it difficult, and in fact, discouraged long term relationships. But, Misha didn't feel that way. Not at all. Not since the first day she arrived on Toril and stepped on the Belle and met Kali. For her, this boat was special. Am I..defective?
The fact remained, however, that time would take many things away from Misha, this was certain. Time would tell her to return to her home and the war, and continue to fight in the name of her God. The Smoke and her visions had blurred and become incomprehensible since the death of Taetanicus. She did not see the future lately. But, the truth is, she would truly have no idea what the passage of time was capable of, or what it would do to her.
Jill said nothing, so Misha leaned her head on her friends shoulder and let her eyes water, the only thing keeping her from crying was the burning hated she had for Hell for taking her Father away from her.
Jill wasn't going to tell Misha to cry or not to cry, emotions were tricky and Jill didn't particularly know the best thing to say, even after all these years. She did however, make an invitation to her friend. "Since you have a day or two left before you go home, would you like to spend them in Waterdeep? I am sure that Sana would not mind taking the Belle back to the city."

Corrin shuffled away from the door as she was totally not eavesdropping in on the super adult conversation Jill and Misha were having. No, there weren't tears stinging at the corner of her eyes, and she wasn't completely bawling when the door opened and she rush passed Jill into the paladins arms. "You can't leave again, Misha! Please stay one more day? W-we can make it the most rememberable day for you! Li-like... We can do each other nails and stuff! A-and hair! I can put a face mask on you! Misha hugged Corrin as tightly as she could, as if by the embrace alone she could transmit all of the wonderful, loving feelings she felt for her and wanted Corrin to know about. She kissed the top of her head many times and hugged her even tighter before saying something she wanted to, and hated to.
"Every single day of my life IS most memorable because I hed zeh honor of meeting you, my preencess."Misha choked. "Not a seengle day goes by where I don't weesh I could continue to watch you grow up. I know your mother would be so very, very proud of you. You and Jeel are so very precious to Misha. If you only knew how much Misha hate to say goodbye. But, thet ees the price Misha must pay."She hugged Corrin again and kissed her cheek many times. It was just so hard to let go, and Misha had so much love to give her. "Ya tak tebya lyublyu, printsessa.."
As much as it hurt Jill to have to part ways with Misha, it hurt her more to see how it was affecting Corrin. As happy as their years were together, she knew that a part of Corrin missed Misha deeply and it was incredibly obvious in the way that she got so excited when Misha showed up on their door a few days ago. And now Misha had to leave again, so soon after reuniting with them. And while Jill didn't know how much Corrin overheard, she could tell that the Tiefling shared her fearful belief that this might be the last time she sees Misha. Jill pats Corrin's back as she sobs in Misha's arms, silently letting her sister know that she's there and isn't planning on leaving her any time soon.

All of this simply wasn't fair. Corrin, having gotten some important bits of information through the door, was sure that this may have been the last time she would see Misha. She wished there was a way to stop the paladin's genetic programming, but she knew there was absolutely nothing she could do about it. Sobbing wasn't going to stop her, begging, pleading for her to stay even a day longer wasn't enough. It wasn't Misha's fault, of course, it was in her blood, she needed to go back, but the tiefling couldn't fully comprehend it.
Corrin buried her head deeper into Misha's chest, wondering if she had held her tight enough, sobbed harder, she would stay, but the way Misha spoke to her now caused her shoulders to slump in defeat. "I-it's not fair..." She cried. "It's not fair..."
With some time, her crying ceased to a sniffle, but her eyes were splotchy and puffed due to the tears. She excuses herself for a moment and leaves off to another room where she had left her bag. Digging in there for a minute, she pulls out a folded piece of paper and returns to the room and hands it to Misha. "... I wanted to give this to you when we were in Avernus, but a lot happened so I... I forgot, b-but I knew you'd come back one day so I kept it for a really long time."
When Misha folds open the paper, she sees its a crayon drawing of two stick figures, one with a sword and shield and crudely drawn red hair attacking what looks to be some sort of red mass with horns, then other figure, much smaller in size, with tiny horns, messy yellow hair with a bow and arrow in hand also attacking, what Misha had to assume was, a demon. "I was a kid so... I-It's not a masterpiece, but I... I just wanted to give you something to remember me by..."

Misha looked at the peecture for a long while. Her heart swelled with love, and joy. She didn't care the picture was made by a child, it was who MADE the picture that it meant the whole multiverse to Misha. She smiled and tried to speak, but choked on her emotions but managed to squeak out. "I love eet. I weel carry thees weeth me for as long as I leev." She hugged Corrin again tightly, as if through transference could Misha share with the Tiefling how much love she had for her. "When I came to thees planet for the first time, I hed no idea that I would meet peeple that I would love so much. I know eet ees deefeecult to understand, but my world needs me just as much..as I need you all, too. I hope that the next time I see you both, eet weel not be for so long, ah?"she said, wanting to believe it, wanting them to believe it. But the truth is, Misha didn't know. And that's the part that she hated along with saying goodbye.
Not wanting to end the hug, but also not wanting to see Corrin in such an emotional mess, she rose, pulling Corrin up. She looked at both Jeel and the Tiefling with pride. "I am very, very proud of both of you, and I love you very much. Come. Let me say goodbye to the others. Then, I hef something for you. Weel probably get een trouble for eet, but.."
Misha walked over to where the others were.
"Captain Sana."Misha said, pulling her into a hug. "You honor Misha by allowing me to join you for such an eemportant meesion. You have brough Glory to my life and know that Misha ees feeled weeth respect and admiration for you. My weesh would to be to stay, to leev on the world we hef defended and saved on more than one occasion, but my world suffers. I must return. I hope that the next time we meet, you weel show Misha evidence thet your life ees feeled weeth joy, honor, success, glory..and leetles ones. Goodbye, Captain."She leaned in a gave Sana a kiss on the cheek.
"Goodbye Emma!"she smiled at the robot. "I must admeet, you are one fantasteek peece of technology - and am further amazed you are steel heer weeth us right now! Thank you for your friendship, and your sacrifice. I hope that wherever you end up, your journey of knowledge and self discovery conteenues, ah?"Emma reached out and hugged Misha. "Goodbye, Misha. Good luck with your war. I know times are hard right now. And..they are about to get much harder. I am sorry. My memory will always have this journey recorded, and I will miss you as well."
Misha nodded and turned to leave. She places her hand on the Belle's bulkhead, as if silently communicating with an inanimate object. Placing her forehead on the wall, she smiled and said a few quiet words in her language. After a moment, she kissed the wall, petting it slowly and gave one quick final look at the ship, and found a spot topside where she could open a portal back to Acheron.
Sana returns Misha's hug tightly. "Misha," she says softly. "Working with you, both times, has been an honor and a pleasure. Thank you for answering my call and helping me save my world and my family. And when I see you again, I will be delighted to show you my life, when I'm not running around giant Hives. Good luck and kick ass, okay?"
Misha took a long look at everyone, as if trying to burn the image of her friends into her brain. "I hope to see you all as soon as posseeble. Thank you for adding so much more meaning to my life. I love you all."She touched a small flat button on her forearm brace, and a small screen came up. She activated a small portal, and it winked into existence. On the other side was a red, war torn world upon a black cube, the sounds of war raging with fire, explosions, and screaming. Off in the distance was a massive settlement, and even from this distance, it was clear something terrible was happening.
Misha made a few more adjustments to her forearm brace, and took it off. She looked at it for a moment, and then tossed it to Corrin. She winked at her, and stepped through the portal. Before it closed, the last image was of Misha waving goodbye.
She returned to her quarters.
"Hey!"Kali said, setting down her pipe. "Back so soon? I wasn't exp- hey. What's wrong?" she asked, suddenly.
Misha's eyes watered and she slumped against the wall. She sank to her knees and curled up into a ball, lying on the floor, the weight of her sadness, grief, and longing pressing down on her like a crushing ton of iron. Her emotional barrier had finally broken so with Kali at her side, wondering what was wrong, her hand on her back trying to pull her in, Misha cried, and cried, and cried.
Jill waves to Misha as she steps through the portal and vanishes. She picks up the forearm brace that was tossed over and hands it to Corrin. "I do not know why she wanted us to have this' but we shall treasure it all the same." And then she pulls her sister into a hug and holds her tightly. She feels tears forming and makes no attempt to blink them away or stop them from flowing. "Je ne te laisserais pas seul."

Which is what ultimately let Jill know that one day, both of their hearts would heal.
