(OOC: So this weekend and then all of next week I am going to be gone at a wedding and camping. I will try to post next weekend, hope you all have a nice week! I will try to keep up with my games but don't think I will be able to to the upcoming scene in this game.)
"Irontail should still be around later. Let's get to the house before the inhabitants leave. It may be our only chance."
OOC: Sorry I haven't been super active lately. My wife and I are trying to adjust to life with a new born so my schedule has been a bit crazy. We're starting to get into a routine now though.
So sorry about the silence. I had been putting off this post for a while but I figure now is as good a time as any. I am going to end the campaign. Life has been getting very busy and I have been having less and less time to post when not at work and due to additional responsibilities I feel like I barley have enough time to keep up in the games I am playing. You are all great and I hope that you understand. If you want I can tell you *roughly* what was going to be my plot for the rest of the campaign. anyway, sorry for letting ya all down.
so my longest game running on here went over 100 pages and I was pretty proud of that. That one died because half the players left (Literally stopped playing on the website) and the others didn't get along. The next longest game died because of a situation similar to what I have now. It was pretty close to reaching the end but work got busy and I was having to keep swapping out players that had to drop out due to life issues as well. I really respect the time and effort you all put into DMing games. it is rough.
also... I felt really bad about crushing your character with a stampede of stink kows in the first round of combat of the game...
LOL It was my own fault. You clearly said if we didn't get out of the way, we'd get run over, and I totally either didn't read it or forgot as soon as I read it. But it was a learning experience, and will always be an interesting fact to share in D&D circles. Not many can say they played a character that lasted only one round before dying.
If you want to fill us in on the mystery, I'd like to read it.
So basically what was going on is that the Mayor was trying to make Darkwater the greatest town ever. The problem however was that being a remote town on the edge of the swamp.. there wasn't much reason for people to visit the town and so expansion was hard. Iron tail provided a source of income to the town and also a reason for people to visit.... but also a lot more. Iron-tail had a device that allowed himself or other people the ability to move between planets / planes. He used this to acquire many of his magical and exotic items that he had for sale. Iton-tail isn't a bad guy... he just likes to make money.
So the mayor needs more townsfolk and more money so he works with Iron-tail to provide him new inhabitants for his town. Iron-tail then uses his contacts in the other realms to convince people to leave ravnica, ebberon, avernous and join the happy town of dark water. This works for a while but Iron-tail isn't picky about who he recruits to join the town, he is getting paid by the body so naturally... many of the new townsfolk are shady thieves, slaves, and convicts. Soon the mayor realizes that he quickly needs to figure out a way to control these new citizens. That is when he works with Leeroy Leadbelly (Azure's boss and captain of the guard) to figure out a way to control these ruffians. The captain of the guard then works with Iron-tail to squire a number of different potions and devices in the hope of finding one that might allow the mayor to control these new townsfolk. The first few potions are a failure after they seemingly killed the men they were tested on. The potions were dumped into the sewer where the current pushed them out into the swamp. One of these men survived however and escaped to the old house outside of town where he plotted his revenge against the mayor. Having given up on the idea of using potions, They tried another small device that could be attached to a hat or a helmet and placed on a persons head. Once the person put on the hat, they would immediately be influenced by the host (mayor) to unknowingly do his will. The dead prisoner / mold monster continued to spread his plague to others and gained the ability to control them in a much more direct and deadly way than the mayor... all the while the potions still sitting in the swamp contaminate the water and aid in the spread of the plague.
So basically... you were going to head to the house.... gasp in surprise when you see Tiriana's slightly moldy corpse standing beside the mold monster man (the guy that had talked to you in the dark and you overheard talking in the tunnel) along with the kobolds from the tunnel. Prior to killing him I planned to have him explain how he came to dark water and how he ended up the way he was and why he hated the mayor so much. If you spoke with Iron tail and visited his shop... you would have discovered that it is actually a small pocket dimension itself and HUGE inside... with all sorts of amazing magical items for sale (like a used car lot of soul powered motorcycles and warforged and other items). He would not try to hide the fact that he has been brining (in his words) Refugees and poor folks looking for a better life to Darkwater. If asked he would have told you that he had placed an order for Leeroy Leadbelly that included a couple crates from ravnica.
When talking to the mayor, if confronted with evidence to his plot to control much of the town, there would have been a knock at the door as EVERY member of town wearing the black hats quickly rushes to the mayors aid. Removing the hats or killing / knocking the mayor unconscious would end the effect and the townsfolk would no longer be under his control.
All of this still leaves the infected members of town. If you finish collecting the ingredients (two dungeons) then he will make a potion that will end the sickness and destroy the plague. Iron tail also provides a way to inject the cure into machines that attach to his motorcycles that allow you to quickly move around town and the swamp cleaning the area of the plague.
If I remember correctly, only one of you was actually infected and your maximum HP pool would have gone down by 1 each day until you died. During that time you would have had damage resistance however against non magical damage as the infection made you feel great and super healthy as it slowly destroyed your mind and body from the inside out.

Jakob is ready to head there now.
"Ya, ya, now is good." Mith agrees.
"Mhmm." Azure mumbles still chewing as he gathers his things.

(No worries. Have a safe trip and be careful.)

Jakob stands as well. "I was a bit distracted trying to run," he says to Mith. "Do you think you can get us back to the house?"
"I think so. It was about 15 mins of hard riding past Oscar's place with his fishing. We should be able to find it back. "
Mith replies confidently.

No worries. It happens. It was great while it lasted and you make a fine DM.
RIP Tiriana- one of the best PC deaths I've experienced.

All cool man. Thanks for the fun.
