"Thank you, thank you all for rescuing me. What happened to Sildar? Yes, my map! For the mine! That bloody hobgoblin had it. I'm sure he's hidden it around here somewhere."
OOC: Everyone roll some investigation checks! Who's searching the bodies?
Seeing Ireniana begin searching bodies, Umbriel will concentrate his efforts on the room and furniture, looking for hidden compartments, chests, under the bed, etc.
Ireniana searches the bodies. Most have nothing of value except their weapons and armor.
Off of the three Hobgoblins you manage to salvage 1 Longsword, 2 shields and 1 Longbow that you think might be able to be sold as serviceable. Their chainmail is all busted up beyond repair.
From the two Hobgoblin Captains, you think that an armorer might be able to piece together one serviceable Half Plate armor, and one of the Greatswords is still in relatively good shape.
On the remains of the Drow, you find a coin purse with 10 Platinum, 50 GP, 12 silver and 3 copper.
King Grol's Plate armor is pretty beat up, but you may be able to take it to an armorer and get it repaired. His shield catches your eye. It looks to be in remarkably good shape for all the damage it took and is emblazoned with a symbol of an eye. On his wrists you notice a fine pair of gauntlets, also in surprisingly good shape for what they have been through.
Rosie and Lyngheid can't find any sign of the map.
Umbriel, however, looks under the bed mattress and finds a stitched leather sack with 220 Silver, 160 EP, two potions of healing, Gundren's map to Wave Echo Cave, a small pouch containing 6 spongy beads and a long wooden staff.
It's taken about 10 minutes to search, so far. You think it will take another 30 minutes to get all of the armor and weapons mentioned off of the bodies and packaged up for transport.
Umbriel shows the map to the group. "This, I think, is what everyone has been up in arms about. Gundren, was it? My name is Umbriel. Very nice to meet you. When you were captured, what did you have on your person? I don't think it'd be proper to divide up the money between us if some of it belonged to you."
Setting aside the beads, the shield, the gauntlets, and the staff, he muses "I'd like to get these identified, but I agree with Rosie. Once we get the armor piled up and out of the way, it'd do us all good to sit for a bit and recover. Gundren, did you hear them talking about other prisoners here in the castle, or an owlbear anywhere nearby?"
Gundren replies: "Aye? What's that sonny? Other prisoners? No. No owlbear either. But that damn hobgoblin didn't tell me much! No, I had a few sheckles, that's all. Most of my things are back in Phandalin with my brothers Nundro and Tharden. And Sildar Hallwinter. How about you lot get me to Phandalin and there will be a little something in it for the effort?"
Umbriel nods in agreement. "In that case, split eight ways, each of us gets one platinum, 20 electrum, six gold, and 29 silver pieces. That leaves 2 platinum, 2 gold, and 3 copper in the party fund, and we can either keep the armor or hose it off and sell it once we get back to Phandalin. I do think it would be wise to ensure there aren't any other prisoners here, I'd rather not come back this way if we can help it. We may also find some clue as to the whereabouts of the Black Spider if we do a little more searching."
Whistler wakes up after a short while and limps over to the former king, pulls out a sharp dagger and begins to cut off the head fully. He stops as the knife cuts through to look at the Drow and noticing it isn't the same thing he killed earlier.
"Not Drow." Whistler tiredly mimics. He reaches out for the gauntlets and ties them to his wrists since he wears very little clothing, to stem the bleeding from the deep cuts he missed parrying, wincing at the sharp and sudden stop of the blood flow and looks a little brighter. He takes his share of the coin and falls back asleep, mimicking one of the party members snores.
As Whistler pointed out, the Drow's body looks very different than what it was when you first saw it alive and breathing. Anyone who has had experience with them in the past will recognize a Doppleganger.
Ireniana nods as she sits down. "That would be a good idea. I say we rest first before searching for more prisoners. They're not going anywhere. As for the equipment, I say we sell it unless someone wants something from the pile. The shield and gauntlets might be magical, or just in really good condition."

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
(OOC: I suggest Droop gets one, and one of the clerics gets the other. Umbriel would like to take a short rest before pressing on. He's not interested in the heavy armor.)
Gundren stirs and then bolts up: "PISS AND VINEGAR! Lyngheid, is that you? What the hell is going on around here? Wait! Where's my map?"
" Map?"
" We just cut our way through a whole bunch of ugly for you, Cousin."
" Everyone! This is my Cousin!"
"Thank you, thank you all for rescuing me. What happened to Sildar? Yes, my map! For the mine! That bloody hobgoblin had it. I'm sure he's hidden it around here somewhere."

"Drow? Oh right! The Drow told King Grol that the Black Spider sent him to get me and my map. King Grol was trying to get more money out of him."
Baeshra, keeping a lookout in the hallway, has yet to spot or hear anything.
Rosie searches around for anything of interest, then sits back down. "I could certainly use a rest while we've got a bit of a break!"

Open questions:
Who is taking the two new potion of healing?
Is the party going to take the time to bundle up the armor and weapons?
Is the party going to take a short rest, or press on?

Nyx let's the others she is with take the lead but she also searches the room and the bodies, particularly the doggleganger.
"Is this Black Spider of yours even a Drow?"
Nyx had head stories of there kind, especially from the elves she grew up around but had never seen one.
While searching Nyx also listens at the upper door and checks to see of it is locked or trapped.
