OOC: Would you allow advantage on the fact that most of the party is passive towards the Owlbear, the fact that Whistler is feeding it rabbit AND King Grohl has front row seats on Whistler's belt, obviously its' abuser?

 The owlbear looks at Baeshra, then cocks it's head quizzically.  "Food!  Water!  Food!  Bird-man food? Mean goblins?"

OOC: 4 hours as Whistler moves the debris away and soothes the Owlbear. We don't want a rampaging Owlbear at the party too!

Assuming Baeshra communicates to the group what the owlbear is saying, and seeing Whistler settling in and really getting to know the beast, Umbriel suggests "Baeshra, tell it we will find and eliminate the mean goblins while he and Whistler rest here, if that's amenable to the rest of the group."

Whistler nods and begins to settle down with the Owlbear.

Baeshra will translate, as well as ensuring it sees Droop and understands he is not food or mean.

The Owlbear does the Owlbear equivalent of a nod at the suggestion that Whistler will stay with it.  It also doesn't believe you about Droop.

OK, Whistler stays with the Owlbear in the dark chamber, while the rest of the party sets out.

Through the door to the west?

"Nyx, do you hear anything on the other side of that door?" Umbriel asks.

Baeshra will dinoshape and listen carefully.

Perception: 16

Nothing, it is quiet.

Lyngheid just watches, thoroughly charmed.

Umbriel, satisfied that there's nothing on the other side of the door, will open it slowly and enter quietly.

You see more rubble, and the connecting passageway from where you originally entered.  Almost directly west is another closed door. South of that is a tattered curtain, halfway open and closed.  Through that curtain you can see a heavy door that you suspect leads to the outside and another door going to the west.

Umbriel will approach the door almost directly across from where he is now, and listen carefully for sounds. Perception 12

 It is quiet, you don't hear anything through the door.

Looking to see if the rest of the group is behind him, Umbriel opens the door enough to get a look inside, but he's ready to close it quickly if something is laying in wait on the other side.

Nyx scoots forward as silently as possible. She heads for the door down from them behind the curtain and places here ear against it to listen to anything on the other side.
