"My primary concern is that this Duke sent agents to investigate the mine, and when they don't report back, it could result in unwanted attention." Turning to the Warriors and Weirdos, Umbriel says "I know I could definitely use a few days to recover, and due to the graciousness of the Townmaster and the Rockseeker clan, we have a Manor to inspect and repair - but after we get the wheels in motion for repairs and upkeep, I think we have a small window of opportunity where the giants are unaware that their scheme in this region has been thwarted. If we move quickly, we can make sure we stay one step ahead - the last thing I want is for harm to come to the people of Phandalin."
Gundren scoffs. "We'll hire plenty of guards. Taint afraid of no Giants!"
Sildar replies, "I can have a few members of the Lord's Alliance posted here for a few months as well. Speaking of which, I got a letter from Reidoth, a druid, asking about help with a little dragon problem in Thundertree. Do you know anything about that?"
Umbriel smiles, and says "Indeed we do. We met Reidoth in Thundertree, and took care of a nascent dragon cult that was setting down roots there. We told him that we'd return to assist him with the dragon once we had saved Master Gundren, who had been abducted by agents of the Black Spider. I think that's definitely one of the things we should address once we're ready to set out again."
Gundren stirs. "So, lads and lasses, give us about 3 months and we'll have the mine producing a bit. Not at full capacity mind you, but enough for a little walking around money. Then we'll send your cut every quarter."
Baeshra looks to the others, "Do we want to spend time to make sure to secure this area first and then investigate this giant issue? If so, how much? We've still got the banshee and the dragon in the area at least, anything else?"
"There was also a question of some undead near Old Owl Well and Orcs near Wyvern Tor, if I'm not mistaken. I think we should set up shop at the Manor and then make a decision on our next course of action from there, if there's no objection. Reidoth was quirky, but he is probably most immediately in danger being in close proximity to a dragon, so that should likely be our first priority."
Baeshra narrows his eyes for a moment, "Would the banshee know much about the dragon? Maybe it could tell us a good way to defeat it, or at least, drive it off."
"I imagine she could. Her name is Agatha and I was seeking her so I could get some answers i need. But the goblins captured me... she lives near a place called Conyberry."
Sildar stands up. "Well, it seems you have much to discuss. Thank you again for the services you have rendered to the town."
Gundren and Nundro hug Lyngheid "Thank you cousin! Stay safe, and come visit us in the mine from time to time. Maybe we'll stop by the Manor for a meal every now and then, aye?"
When you file out of the meeting room, you see that Harbin Wester is talking to a human male, looks to be late 40s with a weathered felt hat.
Harbin looks up "Ah, there you are, this is Phillip, he can head up the crew to restore Tresendar Manor."
The human nods. "Yup, that's right. I've taken a quick look over the place. The first, second and third floors are going to need a lot of work to get livable. But my crew and I can have the basement cleaned up in a few days. Unless you want structural changes down there? I recommend leaving the basement as-is, but moving out the bodies, fixing the walls, closing up the tunnel entrance, etc."
He continues. "Fifty gold will get us started, and probably take care of the basement. That will also give me time to come up with a proper estimate for the rest of the manor."
Before you leave Sildar takes a brief moment to talk to Umbriel and Baeshra, separately.
Spoiler for Umbriel:
"You know, Umbriel, you've done a right fare job handling the Redbrands, uncovering Iarno's treachery and eliminating the goblin threat. I sense a desire for the security of civilization in you. Have you ever thought of joining the Lords' Alliance?"
Spoiler for Baeshra:
"Lizardman, you've done a lot for the town, taking care of the Redbrands, Iarno and goblins and all that. Even though I sense a certain aloofness in you, you seem to be a man of action. Would you consider joining the Lords' Alliance?"
Baeshra holds out a hand to stop Lyngheid, "We do have a supply of gold in the party fund, perhaps this would be a good opportunity to use it? We have a little more than 180 gold pieces worth. Perhaps we could put this down to get the basement and first floor repaired and furnished as we might want?"
For DM
Baeshra cocks his head at Sildar, "Umm... What is it and why would I want to join? You seem to want my warrior skills, but I know nothing of this group."
Phillip replies "Yes, 180 gold would certainly get us going in the right direction. Give us a few days and we'll have the basement ready for you to move in, along with a cook and housekeeper."
Spoiler for Baeshra:
Sildar raises an eyebrow, then says: "The Lords' Alliance is a coalition of rulers from most of the big northern cities and towns in Faerun. Primarily Waterdeep, Neverwinter and Silverymoon. We work together to seek and destroy threats to our homelands, we all must unite against the dark forces that threaten our world! Becoming a member has many privileges: equipment, access to magical knowledge, and access to the knowledge of our archives. In return, every now and then, we may have a task or minor job for you to do."
Umbriel cautions Philip about the laboratory at the northern end of the basement. "Best to leave that area alone when you find it, we haven't fully identified everything in that area and I'd hate for any unfortunate accidents to occur. If you can at least have the basement habitable in three days while avoiding that room, I'll add a 20 gold bonus to the pay."
To Sildar:
"To be honest, I had never given much thought to joining any organization - I arrived on this plane alone, and only took the initial job because I needed the coin to support myself in my exile. The concept of friends was somewhat... Alien to me, considering what I went through to be here.
"Now, however, I've come to depend on these people and they know they can depend on me - and that gives me solace. The safety in knowing that we have each other's backs gives me time to reflect on who I am and what's important to me, and I have to say that I count the good people of Phandalin, and their security, among what's important to me.
"Your proposition is an intriguing one, but would you allow me time to consider it? I promise to give you an answer before we leave to take care of Reidoth's dragon, but knowing how important the Lord's Alliance is to you, I'm sure you understand why I don't want to simply rush into a binding agreement - those can come with costs that must be carefully considered, as I've learned from experience."
"I however am going to go talk to the weaponsmith. Maybe there is something fancy they can do with my crossbow... maybe make it hold a few bolts at a time. I have heard tell in Calishan about elves and well... assassin's that brandish hand repeater crossbows that hold multiple bolts. Is that something that the people of the North use as well? And I better restock my bolts as well."
"Yes, of course. Take all the time you need. Joining should not be taken lightly. There are some benefits, however. Sometimes equipment, sometimes knowledge or special access to things. In return, the Alliance may assign a task to you from time to time."
The party returns to Stonehill Inn to regroup.
There, Toblen delivers a message to Rosie: "This just came in for you, sweety."
Rosie opens the envelope, reads it and looks up. "Oh dear! My nan has taken ill, I must return home immediately and see if there is anything that I can do for her. I'll return when I can." And she hurries up the stairs to pack. Pausing halfway up she turns. "Oh, before I go, I'll teach one of you some common Giant phrases and symbols. It seems like that may come in handy if you investigate this Duke any more before I get back."
Buy what you need from there, and subtract the gold. Droop gets a healers kit, a piece of chalk and rounds out his rations.
For weapons, ammo, armor, a trip to the Lionshield Coster is in order. Droop asks someone to accompany him to help buy more arrows. "Ireena, Umbrella, some people come to buy arrows with Droop?"
Nyx, Droop, and anyone else who wants to accompany them go to the Lionshield Coster. Linene Graywind looks up from behind the counter and smiles.
"Ah, welcome back. I hear good things about you folks. And I see you've picked up a new member here. That's great. What can I do for you on this fine day?"
Umbriel bought 14 days of rations and 10 says of feed for Pale, plus a set of fishing tackle from Barthens Provisions, and he paid an extra gold to have it all delivered to the Manor. He'll then go with Nyx and Droop to the Coster, but he'll just go for moral support, he doesn't need anything.

Lyngheid nodded, " Lets take a day to get the manor tidying started and some staff/workers hired then go get killed by a dragon."
" After that, if any are left we should check out the banshee for the local shrine."

Everyone, take the afternoon to discuss plans, and stock up on supplies. Barthen's Provisions has any non weapon or armor adventuring gear 25 GP or less: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules/equipment#AdventuringGear
