You spend a minute and are able to recover half of the bolts you shot.
Most of the orcs have pouches on them full of an unidentifiable meat, they also have waterskins. You find a flask full of what smells like whiskey on one of them, but aren't sure how they came across it.
Standing over the mule's broken body, Umbriel thinks for a moment, and then starts pulling his riding tackle off of Pale and putting it into the cart. "I'm sorry, my friend, but we need your help with this," he says to his horse.
To Nyx, he says "...Father? He is not my father, though I do owe him much. I do not call him by his name, that would not be proper in my station. Our... arrangement is still somewhat nascent, but he speaks to me in whispers and dreams about objects of arcane power and where to look for them. That is actually how I fell in with these "Warriors and Weirdos" - I was seeking the Spellforge. I was honestly just as surprised to see him appear as you were."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Baeshra history: 17
Baeshra returns to the side of their fallen mule, and when it becomes clear healing it is not an option, beckons Droop over to help him dress it out, "No reason to waste good meat. So, Umbriel, you work for old lich, are you going to try to become one too? Because I hear they smell bad."
"No, Baeshra - my goals are different, though they run in parallel tracks. My patron has promised me the power to ... retrieve something I have lost, but I have no wish to become undead myself."
Umbriel continues to harness Pale up to the cart once Baeshra and Droop pull the carcass of the mule away. "So far, he has not demanded too much from me, but I have the feeling that after that intervention, he may ask me to do something more overt on his behalf. I promise to communicate with you all if anything I am tasked with would be counter to this group's goals."
Droop eagerly helps Baeshra clean and Dress the mule.
"We eat good today!"
Does the party complete the last several hours of their long rest?
Also, Umbriel, you can look at both spoilers, sorry I should have said that right away.
Also, there are actually two carts and mules, one from the Lionshield Coster. You should be able to hook the second cart up behind the first, mules can pull a lot!
It's okay, Umbriel has no problem hitching Pale up to the cart, it will enable us to travel at the same pace as before. Two carts on a single mule would slow us down, I imagine.
The party completes their interrupted Long Rest and in the morning figures out how to attach their cart to Pale.
The morning passes quickly as the party continues their journey. Around lunch time the trail runs through the center of around a dozen run-down and abandoned houses, and an inn.
From the map, you recognize theses ruins as the abandoned town of Conyberry. You see a lesser used, but still traversable trail heading to the north and Lyngheid and Nyx recognize this as the place to search for Agatha, the Banshee.
The weather is sunny and clear, and you aren't sure how far Agatha's Lair might be, but you discuss it over lunch. Continue to Triboar or search for Agatha?
Umbriel gathers the shadows around him and casts Hex on OW, followed swiftly by two Eldritch Blasts at the restrained Orc.
Attack 1: 24 Damage: 10
Hex 1: 6
Attack 2: 26 Damage: 9
Hex 2: 2
Whistler finally finds his groove and takes out OB1 and OE2!
Umbriel sends two Eldritch Blasts at OW, coupled with his Hex damage manages to finish off the Orc War Chief!
With that, the remaining few orcs are easily mopped up and we are out of initiative, minus one mule...
Baeshra, you remember noticing that some of the Orcs seemed wounded before they attacked.
Anyone who was conscious when Umbriel's visitor stopped by can make a History check. Those proficient in Arcana can make an Arcana check as well.

You remember learning about a very powerful Lich called Larloch and known as 'The Shadow King'.
If you remember none of those, you do know that the figure makes you uncomfortable, and sends a shiver up your time.
Nyx will search the bodies as well as try to recover her bolts.

( Does Lyngheid have time to scramble up, run over to the mule and revivify?}

Haha, yes, if you have the 300 GP worth of diamonds.
( Nope...no diamonds....fecking orcs...who attacks a mule? Seriously? Fecking orcs...)

(So we had our cart, two carts from lionshield, three mules total, plus Pale, right? We are just down one mule from that?)
No, two carts and two mules. Down to the mule from the lionshield and 2 carts.
And pale.
( How would Lyngheid go as a mule replacement, she's strong and has a low centre of gravity. )
She's no mule.

Lyngheid looks at the others and suggests that perhaps they should see Agatha on the way back.
Umbriel agrees, casting Detect Magic again out of habit to make sure their cargo is still safely secured.
