The creatures have some faint nature magic around the corpses, but a corrupted magic, almost like a disease. The magic slowly seeps and spreads into the ground and seem to search for a new host.
"Corrupted magic? Might be related to the poisoned river." Jocelyn looks at the body. "We should bury him. Or better yet burn the body. If corrupted magic is around he could raise as a Zombie or something."
"Burying him around here probably would be a bad idea and I'm not one to start a funeral pyre in the middle of a forest. Assuming its not rotting perhaps we should take it with us for a little bit until we find a safe place to dispose of it." Rolen looks over to Erdot, "Are we heading the right direction to the tribe of druids or are we just stumbling through the woods at present?"
"We are just stumbling in the woods at present." Erdot glances at the battleaxe. "But, I might be figure out something from these runes. We could rest quickly, or continue on. If we continue on, I might be able to sense what might poison the land, or, if we're lucky, the source of it. Or sources."
Rolen stares at Erdot for a few seconds before muttering a few curses in dwarvish under his breath. He turns to Joceyln, "That sounds like a marvelous idea."
"If those were what managed to kill everyone in camp, I wonder if whoever sent them here were wary of their abilities? Unless they were swarmed. If it were just these five..." Folwyn trails off in thought, wondering why they would do this. "The druids. What if they are the ones who made... those?" He gestures at the creatures.
"I need no berries, we need to find those druids immediately. If they are the source of those monstrosities, they must be stopped." looking over the shoulder of whoever is in possesion of the axe, he doesn't recognize the runes carved into it. He waits restlessly for the others to finish whatever they're doing.

"The hero sought to save the world.
"If I keep trying, I'll be able to win," the hero thought.
But the harder the hero fought, the further the world seemed to tumble away.
Drowning in doubt, the hero could not even save themselves.
Hero, if you still believe in a brighter future, hold in your heart a thorn that can pierce all doubt."
There is 5 silver on the body.

The dwarven runes seems to be connected to nature, but that's all you can tell. A short rest will reveal more information.

"Well what of that stone we found a while back. Was there anything of use from it or was it some sort of warning?"
"The stone? It had directions to the Fengari burrow. Karst found this path before I could say anything, though."
"Karst is good finder!"
"Lead us to the Burrow then, Erdot. The druids could know what's going on here."
((Oh, and can Karst get like four of those goodberries?))

"If the druids are behind this, than we will be exactly were we're needed to put an end to all of this."
"Right. I pretty sure its this way..." ((Back to the stone we go.))
"Oh, I also have goodberries, if anyone needs them."
Erdot ill let you have a arcana check with advantage. The axe does have a tie to nature.

The axe seems to do extra damage to wood or plant based objects. As you hold it you become uneasy.
((It is a +1 battle axe, Hew, it does max damage to plant based creatures and wood based objects. Doesn't need to be attuned to.))

"Eh, I'll take it." he says, snatching it out of Erdot's hands.
(Is anyone else here proficient with these? Just curious.)
