Halec’s eyes narrow. “We are investigating the missing dragon eggs. If you and your people are not a part of that, we have no quarrel with you. If you are, then I am afraid conflict is inevitable.”
"Dragon Eggs?" He laughs "We would we steal a thing like that? Those things are as big as a dwarf..." He points his greasy thumb at Harbek "...I mean, they are not easy to carry around, I'll tell you that. Now get out!"
Halec glances to Abygail, noting the mounting tensions. "Abygail, do you know of these men? This is your backyard, so to speak. The trail seems to lead here, and we find these brigands. They claim to have no association with the dragon egg theft, but this is where the trail leads us. I would value your input before we decide." He notes Harbek may be starting the fight, regardless, but tries to get their local guide's input, none the less.
Abygail did not speak until the "door" was shut "Yes, these thievin' scumbags have always been raiding the village, all the time, up until... you know, all this happened. I never knew this would be their hideout, but I know one thing about thieves; you can never trust them, not even to tell truths."
Halec grimly turns back to the thieves. "It seems you are not to be trusted, sirs. You have been raiding this village for some time, and I cannot take you at your word that you are not associated with the theft of the dragon eggs if your word lacks credibility. Further, you have threatened one of my oldest and truest allies. I give you this ultimatum: Unhand Ohpiwalen, cast your weapons aside, and submit yourselves for search and investigation for any connection to the theft of the dragon eggs. I act on the authority of the entirety of Snakeskin Valley, for we have been made the sole hope of saving it from collapse due to the destruction of the Ruby Snowflake. Our cause is too important to allow anything but the most pressing needs to stand between us and success. For the greater good of all in this region, I offer you surrender."
Halec attempts to make eye contact with Ophiwalen, having journeyed and fought together long enough that he hopes he will pick up on his unspoken message to do what he can to free himself from the thieves and fight alongside him, Harbek and possibly Abygail, as combat seems imminent.
(Ophiwalyn was released when he told you to get out)
The door opens very quickly, the human who was holding Ophiwalyn is there with a face bright red "I would not surrender to you, the dragons, or anyone else in this blasted kingdom, and that Ruby Snowflake is your own problem!" He faces towards the 'secret' passage, takes a horn out of his pouch, and blows it, the sound of the horn echoes through the cavern, creating a melody all together.
Eight other thieves storm out of the passageway and into the large room, surrounding their caller who gives them orders in Thieves' Cant:
"Those travelers are after our treasure, kill them at whatever costs"
The gang of thieves turn to the four of you, each taking out a different weapon, no two thieves have the same weapon nor one of very close ties. (Everyone roll initiative)

Thief I is a dwarf slightly larger than Harbek, he has long, curly red hair, its large mass pairs off with his similarly long, bushy beard covering the front of his body. He wields a greataxe with several dents and chips on the blade, most noticeable is the large crack that stretches half way across. He lets out a fierce war cry before charging at Harbeck, swinging the axe directly across his chest.
Attack: 16 Damage: 12
Thief C is a copper-skinned wood elf with amber hair, shorter, yet neatly straight. His face carries no emotion, he only gives a gloomy stare to your party, while moving into a corner with his shortbow to fire a pair of arrows at Halec:
Action: 11 Damage: 2 Bonus Action: 16 Damage: 2
Abygail unslings a longbow from around her chest, getting into a stance while saying to herself "This is the 'Saturday Siege' all over again." however, she said it a bit too loud. She reaches into her bag to take out an arrow, returns to her stance, and fires it at Thief B
Attack: 22 Damage: 7
Thief F is a female human who has her brown hair tied back into a frizzy ponytail, her mouth is covered by a black cloth successfully obscuring her appearance. With her spear by her side, she approaches Abygail to give her a clean slash.

Your attack hits with great power, "You idiotic dwarf- Sieze him this instance!" He calls out in rage.
Thief D is a male human with short, filthy, light-brown hair. He wears all black wool clothes on his skinny body. He has a single light hammer with a distinct wave design covering the entire head. The thief turns to Harbek, swinging his hammer at the dwarf's chest.

Halec opens fire on Thief B then Thief E with the two attacks of the Attack Action, he fires on Thief G with his Bonus Action, he then uses Action Surge for a 2nd Attack Action, firing on Thief H, then Thief A with the 5th and final shot. He will use the Sharpshooter -5 to hit/+10 to damage feature with each and every attack, the Hand Crossbow +1 can fire up to 120 ft without Disadvantage. He will supplement low-seeming attack rolls with Precise Shot, the Battlemaster Maneuver. I will calculate the final attack bonuses then provide those with the damage.
