”No, Galtheon, I do not lead those of the Silver Flame, though I did talk to that priest as well on the way to the saloon. If you want to speak of matters of faith, though, I am a willing ear,” responds Evan.
OOC: Perhaps we take a short rest and maybe get as far on the West side as we have on the east, then rest up for the night before going through the double doors?

Galtheon hands 3 goodberries to Ilecerys, "Tell me if you need more".
He ponders Taraven's comment, remembering her description of what she found in the priests room. After a few seconds he replies, "We should stay away from the mine -- wherever it is -- until we have ensured these rooms are safe."
He glances at the resting priest before continuing, "He said he needed a brief rest so he could repel the undead again. That should help."
(( ooc: Taraven: don't forget you are now a skilled longbow user...noted re bolts...consumables none will quibble over, I think ))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: Evan's plan to go to. the. west side sounds good. I. have have only 20 arrows for my longbow. I guess I'm just being way over prepared. I'm thinking if I go through the 20 arrows for my longbow, I can have more bolts for the crossbow I have. Maybe it's not necessary???
OOC: To confirm, after the rest, is the party retracing the route of Entryway-East Hallway-T Juncture, and then going West from there? Or by “west” did you mean Enteance-West Hallway? Just want to prepare correctly.
When Okkar asks the question (( 8-) )) Galtheon responds, "There's sense in both. For my part, I'd say west from the entry hall. There''s surprises there too, maybe."
If it is only a short rest that we are having, Nanoc will try to take multiple horses down to the watering hole and maybe just take two trips. His mending can wait until later.

Nanoc catches larger prey with this survival check, happening on a goat that falls to his sling. It provides more a more satisfying meal to him, and others used to meat, than goodberries alone, during the rest. Gathering water and seeing to the horses takes little effort, and the group has its meal and rest without incident.
OOC: If you are exploring the western part, let me know if you are entering the Western Hallway from the Entrance chamber, or climbing over to enter the western guard post.
Nanoc will make sure the goat is butchered well away from the camp and that the offal is disposed of even further away to avoid attracting predators near the horses.
I also assume that this means that the party is taking a long rest as butchering and cooking the goat will probably take some time.

That would be my assumption as well. The fortunate find of the hunt may decide the issue for the group, given the time needed to butcher and prepare it as a meal.
Okkar grunts sounds of appreciation and anticipation. “Good work, Nanoc m’boy. No offense to our ranger friend and his mystic berries, they do fill the stomach somehow, but berries and dried rations alone just don’t feel like living. No business of mine if you all don’t want to talk about it - you’re getting the job done and that’s what matters to me - but what’s your plans after you get that gold all processed and divvied up? This a normal haul for you all?
Adventurers live an odd life to us normal folk. Some of you come across the wealth craftsmen work years to acquire or nobles inherit, from a few weeks of dangerous work. Some of your, err, colleagues, spend what normal folk would on an estate or a fleet of ships on a sword that slices just a little bit better than any cheap piece of steel, or a ring that does some arcane obscurity that no one but your own kind can understand. It’s an odd life. Kinda exciting I guess, appeals to the youth and all, heck, even I found it kinda romantic when I was a beardless kid. Is it something you think you’ll outgrow? Get enough and call it quits on the danger? Or is this a ‘for life’ calling for you all?”
The dwarf takes a deep breath of the smell of cooking goat, and gets a distant look in his eyes. “I should keep this professional I s’pose, client to contractors. No business of mine, I know. I’m just real grateful to have come across the right group of people for this. Might be something to that. Traveling to new places, getting involved in people’s problems and leaving their world a better place. Real nice, that, and especially for a religious minded sort like you, Evan, I see the appeal. But to just move on, after that. Never puttin’ down roots. Never staying in one place to see it grow and thrive from your work. Kinda sad in a way, too.”
Those with passive insight of 12+ can tell that Okkar is genuinely interested in discussing the lifestyle of professional adventurers with all of you, but the revelation about the fate of his kinsmen’s mine is weighing on him. He wants to talk, that much is clear, but seems uncomfortable talking about that, right now, beyond his earlier comments where he swore to kill the corrupted priest who cursed the mine.
"I'm like you," says Nanoc. "I've no family either... Haven't really thought much of the future... I want to make a name for myself so that people will remember me when Avastar decides it is my time."
Then, lacking the insight to understand Okkar's needs of the moment, Nanoc just continues with the task of preparing the goat for cooking; trimming off excess fat from the body to use later to condition the leather of his saddle.

"No offence -- you seem like a decent and honourable man."
With that he stands and assists in preparing a fire.
He listens to Nanoc's response to Okkars question, then responds himself. "My home is gone, so I wander. I also look for a man -- well, a half-man -- named Mandroval. But the trail is long cold, so now I rely on fate to bring us together again."
He shakes his head as if to shake loose his train of thought, "Answering your question: I have plans for aught else but this life."
"And you...will you be in charge of this mine?"
He looks around, "Sometimes -- like now -- what I'm asked to so, I might do anyway, just to restore a proper balance to the world. Being paid is a bonus."
(Evan was talking about going back to the main hall and scouting the doors off the western hallway after a short rest--so not going as deep as the double doors until they have had a long rest, but he is fine with spending the rest of the day scouting for food and making the camp more comfortable so they can start fresh the next morning,)
"A well-posed question, Okkar, and I suspect each one of us has a different answer. As for me, the 'Razor's Kiss' is my home, a fine sailing ship with a brave captain and a sturdy crew. It takes me to many wondrous places, ripe for adventure, but I always get to go back. Yet it is limited to the waters of this world, and more restricted than you might think by the needs of the crew and the necessity of earning money through trade and transportation. My dream is to one day afford a small sky ship, having the funds needed to purchase it and operate it as I wish--I can travel the world, yet have my home with me all the time," opines Evan.
OOC: The +1 Shield is not adding properly to Evan's AC, saying it is only +2 to AC instead of +3. Does it not stack with the cloak, or is that a problem with DND Beyond?

"Adventuring is a dangerous trade Okkar, and a few magical aids can help one emerge alive, but possessions in general are uninteresting to me. Perhaps one day I can build a monastery of my own though, and that will require more funds and skill than I have now. The Silver Flame requires emissaries with greater concern for wisdom than blood and coin.
But may your mine have good fortune, and you the humility to run it well. My path is not for everyone."

It seems so, yes. We will get in a little RP here before the next push into the dungeon.
