OOC: So, Evan can cast Bless on himself and two ranged attackers, then move into the room and start attacking at range once the bucket falls. Alternately, he can cast Silence and give us a better chance of surprising them with a falling winch bucket, but that is expensive in spell slots and would keep Evan from casting spells unless he immediately dropped it after the bucket falls. We should also probably distribute the healing potions before combat as well. Is the plan coming together well enough for us to get started?

OOC: To confirm, the plan is to collapse the bucket mechanism on those below and fire down on them from above, and then withdraw to the mess hall to descend and ensure the job is finished, in essence?
[OOC: Dropping the bucket, yes. I thought the ranged weapon people wanted to wait here taking attacks of opportunity for as long as the could before withdrawing to the Mess Hall and using the secret shaft.]

OOC: Pretty much, depending on their tactics. If they come up at us in overwhelming force, we may just run out the entrance to the mine. If they stay down there and make themselves targets, we can just keep shooting from above. If they send a few creatures up to investigate, we should be able to take them out and keep fighting. If they hide down there out of the range of our attacks, we can go down the mess hall entrance while they are watching for us to come down the main entrance.

Those *not* operating the crowbars, roll a straight DC 10 Int check, separate checks, no Help option. Anyone who makes a success on this will lower the crowbar user DC to 10.
2 of you, roll DC 15 Athletics checks, with advantage if using tools and/or teamwork. The DC of this check will reduce to 10 if party members not actively engaging in the "muscle" side of it succeed in their check to identify the weakest structural points.
Success on the first round means no noise will be made *prior* to it breaking, so you will catch as many of the enemy as possible below off guard. If you fail and need to try again you may do so, but they will be altered and may scatter or attack. Alternatively a silence spell can mitigate the threat of discovery and attempts can be made without urgency - hence no rolls needed - but that will require a spell slot.
The Silence must be decided beforehand, in this case.
Evan is willing to use silence to make this plan work smoothly. That way as soon as the bucket starts falling, those with missile weapons can time their shots to when the bucket hits down below (and Evan can stop concentrating on the silence as soon as the bucket leaves the area of silence).

With silence in play there is no urgency on getting the checks right the first time, as they enemies below will not be alerted. With some effort Nanoc and Ilecerys destroy the twin supports and the heavy bucket, intended to lower groups of Dwarven miners, goes crashing down below.
The bucket crashes down below, what should be a titanic crash enveloped in magical silence. There is a scuffle of movement visible in the play of light and shadow down below, indicative of many creatures either writhing or fleeing.
No one in the group has a 16 passive perception, so the stealth check of Greedyguts was a success. As the group is still surveying the fallen bucket and taking aim at the greed grubs below, the dark cleric uses his ability to move through stone, identical to the stone ghosts, and travels through the walls and ceilings/floors, to emerge just beyond the double doors your group entered through. He will have one surprise action and then it will enter initiative.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Round Zero (Surprise Round) Greedyguts casts spiritual weapon, creating a floating golden scythe next to Evan, which attacks, as a bonus action. For his action he casts Spirit Guardians, summoning skeletal floating forms carrying scythes that hover within 15 feet of him, swinging malevolent spiritual energy.
Greedyguts is in one of two squares of the double doors to the room the group entered from 20 feet away from the area of the bucket, the Spirit Guardians protect an area 15 feet around Greedyguts and approaching within that area will require a wisdom save vs necrotic damage.
Spiritual Weapon attack v Evan:
12
Natural One - the scythe swings wide, altering Evan and the rest of the party to his presence.
The party sees Okkar take his axe in a two handed grip, dropping his shield and looking furious - it is clear he plans to charge the dark priest who corrupted his family’s mine (unless advised otherwise). The NPC ally will act last on the party initiative.
Ilecerys shrugs, "I'm not much use at range, but I'm happy to join with those who are."
Evan:
Smiling at Ilecerys, Evan hands the warrior his crowbar and whispers, “Do you think you can hit him with a falling winch bucket?

Nanoc is willing to Help Ilecerys with the winch bucket, if someone has another crowbar; I presume it is secured at at least two points anyway.

It is, yes, and Okkar offers up a second crowbar, either for someone else's use, or to provide aid himself.

Nanoc will take the proffered crowbar from Okkar and then ask the dwarf for specific instructions as to where to apply his strength to best advantage.
[OOC: This might count as Help for Nanoc's attempt?!?]

11 Greedyguts initiative
Greedyguts ended his turn in the doorway, 20 feet away. He is maintaining Concentration on Spiritual Guardians, Spiritual Weapon does not require it.

Seeing Greedyguts in the doorway, Taraven will turn and cast [spell/Magic Missile[/spell] at 2nd level
Force Damage: 17
OOC: I am assuming he needs to roll to see if he can keep concentration from taking damage.
