After the first few words out of the beasts mouth, Treenja would have ducked behind a pew or whatever is available. From behind his hiding spot he addresses the people as they enter, "Beware the beast at this room is alive. I didn't know statues could move or speak."
Bo cautiously speaks up and asks "H-h-hi, I am Bo. Are you the one who summoned us all to Saballi?"
Dao looks to the Warforged, "Indeed I am, but before we get down to business... Might I inquire here the rest of you are? I'm sure I asked for seven of you."He remarked taking a seat on the base of the statue behind him.
Treenja will peer around the corner. Finding that those that have entered have not been eaten he says, "From what I can tell we each thought we were called alone. I am not sure of where the others are, but I am here."
"Well met Dao." Kellin says, stumbling and running into the man as he tries to shake hands. "Sorry..." He says, trying to straighten the man's clothes as he rights himself.
„Argadan, sir. to your service! Now theres three of us, but im not sure where the rest is.“
Dao sighed, a bit frustrated but regains his composure "Why don't we wait for the others then... This will be easier if I only have to explain this once." he would say, before leaning back against the statue and pulling out a book to read from his satchel.
Aeoh nodded diligently, and then got on his knees and started praying to the stature of Yolnarii
Thoradin near runs into Verna on her way out. He had taken a moment to admire the stonework of the statue. Apologies lass, twas just looking at the stonework. Not bad for human work. They all inside?
He then goes in to join the others. Seeing Dao he rumbles over and takes a seat, waiting for the meeting to commence.

Dao marks his place in his book with a bookmark and puts it back in his satchel, stands up and gets off from the Statue's base to stand before the party. "We are still missing one, but I can't shake the feeling they're a no-show... So why don't we start things off proper."
Dao pauses and signals Aeoh to present the wrapped object to the party, being careful not to undo the rope binds. "We got a special thing, the croc man wants the special thing. We need to give him the special thing!" Aeoh pipes up, thinking he got the whole point across.
Dao on the other hand continued to pause for a moment before correcting hi small companion "Well, do go FURTHER into detail. An associate of mine is studying ancient saurian civilizations, The Ancestors of my *and technically his* people, on the lower continent. Recently Some people I've been working with have found something on the upper continent that may be linked to it. I need you all to take it to him." He would say before Aoeh chimed in again.
"Gotta find the croc friend, find the croc friend!"
Dao continued "Riiiight, as you might have guessed You'll know him when you see him... He's a Saurian like me, A Sarcos to be exact. And he tends to spend most of his time either in taverns or libraries. So when you arrive at your destination, The Town of Birth, you can start your search there." He paused one last time to look over the party... "Any questions?"
"Y-y-yes" Bo manages to stammer out "W-why do you need us to take this? Could you not take it yourself?" She asks sheepishly
Dao looks to the side, almost feeling ashamed. "I would, but I must give my reports to my commanding officer about what happened on the expedition on the upper continent. Not to mention I'm already swamped with other matters that will be taking me in the opposite direction... This is just too far out of the way"

"S-sorry I am unfamiliar with this area; how far away is Birth from Saballi and would we be returning here afterwards?" Bo asks (trying not to let on that it is crucial to her that she be able to stay in the area as the trail of her missing father went cold around here).

Dao isn't lying, he seems to honestly want this package (what ever it may be) to get to it's destination. He does however seem to not be telling the whole story.
Dao Responds, "Well its not a place you can walk to... Head down the coast southwest, there you'll find the Town of Xi and can board a ship or zeppelin to transport you to the Town of Birth."

(I'd like to roll a deception check to see if Bo can mask her horror at realizing that this job will take her far from where she feels she"needs" to be)
