Reign of Winter 5e

Jasun took Sera's hand up. "Ah. Thank you." he said, apologetic, his hand was dirty. "Sorry about the uh..well. Mess.."

Then he turned to Rose. "Yes! Thank you for asking, my dear. I uh..I have a uh.." he tried to think of the word, and noticed Sera giving him a look, which made him a bit more embarrassed. "Well, you see..it's uh." he cleared his throat. "You guys perhaps do deserve an explanation."

He overheard some of what Sera and Jirel were talking about regarding performance issues. He couldn't help but snort and smile to himself, muttering quietly, "Well, at least you can hit targets and you're not covered in goop." As if to prove his point, he took off his jacket and looked at it in disgust. He began cleaning it, cursing Jezzika's foul play.

It changed quickly knowing he was alive, as was Nadya, the children, and the young woman. As the fireworks went off, he walked up to Nadya. "I am glad you are alive. You are truly someone special - not to mention you can fight as well! I should thank you for everything you have done for us. I appreciate you very much. The fireworks are beautiful, aren't they?"

 "Perheps Solveig has a tub that you can bathe een."

Bella follows you back to Solveig's hideout, children in tow. Upon being reunited with Solveig, the two women share a long, passionate kiss. Solveig rewards you for rescuing Bella by giving you her morningstar, Everbloom's Rose. In addition to being a +1 morningstar, the weapon can once a day be used to end an effect causing a creature to be frightened. If the wielder of this morningstar succeeds on a saving throw against a fear effect, they get advantage on attack rolls against the source of that fear effect for one round. She also gives you two greater healing potions. Solveig promises that the Heralds of Summer will find caring homes for the children. She allows you all to take a long rest here, but stresses that the Iron Guard will only be able to fight for so long and that you should get to the Market Square and free the hut once you've finished resting. 

Area M1

The shops and homes of the Merchants’ Quarter stop abruptly at a towering wall of evergreens that has burst through the snow-covered cobblestones of the city’s streets. Ahead, the trees part to form a path winding into the dark forest that has replaced all sights and senses of the city around it. Two ice trolls stand guard here. They have not noticed you yet.

Jasun raises his eyebrows at the two kissing, amused at the sight, and not expecting it. He then takes the opportunity to clean up.

"Thank you Rose, for healing me during the fight. Your skills of mending are admirable." he says to her. "Were it not for you, our companions, and Nadya, I would surely be dead."

If staying the night and Nadya is with us, Jasun will spend the evening getting to know her better and being sweet to her. If anyone else from the group talks to him, he will answer tomorrow when Crispy wakes up. Also, if we press on tomorrow: upon leaving with the group and seeing the trolls, he weaves up some Eldritch blasts should the party wish to sneak attack.

Earlier: Once you've cleaned off, Jasun, Nadya is willing to converse with you. She's very interested to hear you talk about the world outside of Irrisen, where there's seasons other than winter. After speaking about more casual subjects, the conversation grows more deeper and personal with Nadya as she talks about the struggle of living in Irrisen, providing for her village, and raising her children as a single mother after her husband was killed a year ago. Eventually she kisses you and wishes you goodnight before going off to bed. You get the impression that next time, she'll be sharing a bed with you.

Now: Make your attacks then roll initiative.

The firbolg frowned a bit when Jasun didn’t give much of an explanation at all, though she figured he would indulge them later on when they had down time. Behind her bangs, her eyes would look to Sera and Jirel, the cleric not wanting to be nosy, but curiosity would tend to get the better of her. She’d only hear fragments, but she didn’t say anything with the pieces she picked up on, and instead pokes around the hoard some more. She safely packs away the scroll tube, and gingerly picks up the owl figurine and looks it over before looking over to Zaf.

Quietly, she pads over beside him and shows him the statuette. “It’s cute, isn’t it?” She says with a smile. “I think you should have it, Zaf.” She’d motion for him to take it, and will push a little if he declines at first, but if he’s adamant on not taking it, she’ll frown but eventually pack it away as well.

At Jasun’s compliment, Rose’s cheeks darken in color, her bangs covering up her eyes once more. “O-oh no, i-it’s just... what I’m here to do after all, hah...” 

When they return to Solveig’s hideout, Rose struggles to stay awake during the reunion and giving of rewards, having over exerted herself today. Once given the chance to rest, she is very quick to fall asleep on a curled up Teddy, glad to have that much needed rest.

 Rose feels refreshed after the rest, and tries to remind herself to not push herself so much like she did yesterday. With a breath, she looks about ready to fight the trolls.

Jasun did truly like Nadya. This wasn't some ploy to bed her and leave her. He was interested in her, wanted to get to know her better. She seemed intrigued by him as well, and his mind wandered a bit in anticipation with possibilities in knowing her better.

Though apprehensive at first, Zaf acquiesces to Rose's suggestion, citing that he would at least hold on to it for the time being. "And if ever in need of it, I will not object... At least, not very strongly." He chirped after that; his version of a chuckle. Then, it's off to some corner of the room or large enough post for a bird man to rest comfortably. And find it he did, his dreams unharassed for once by twisted memories. Yet in the morning, he still found himself wondering how many more such nights would be had in the coming days...

Even with his mind occupied by such troubles, he hadn't missed Jasun's suggestion, and had broken out the map. "Together then?" He whispered, leery still of notice. Then almost as one, the bolt goes flying alongside any eldritch blasts out of the warlock.

You blast the absolute shit out of Troll1 with that crit! And guess what, you and Jasun are at the top of the initiative order so you get to do it again!

Take advantage of the trolls not seeing them, Rose casts off a Mind Sliver on Troll1!

DC15 Int save or take 12 psychic damage and the first time he makes a saving throw before the end of my next turn, he must roll a d4 and subtract the number rolled from the save!

Jasun, on his lunch break, finally let loose some cosmic death, even if the timing was off cuz he had a job.

He stood there with a deadpan face, watching one miss, and one do minimal damage. It was at that point he considered a career change quite seriously.

"M... Maybe you should try another spell?" Rose suggests shyly to the irritated warlock. 

Even with minimum damage, Jasun is able to kill Troll1.

Seizing his chance, Zaf takes to the air, only to dive bomb the remaining troll. "Rot in peace 'o black-hearted guardian!" He declared as a talons are drawn back, and began to glow a foul greenish light.  The moment he so much as grazes the creature, flesh begins to sloughs off as the energy spreads throughout its being.

"Like that!" The firbolg exclaims suddenly, excitedly pointing to the remaining troll who took the nastiest hit of the century. "Try that spell, Jasun!"
