Neverwinter, or a long way from it. Travelling the High Road Gundren and Sildar promised to pay you ten gold pieces each for making sure Barthens Provisions in Phandalin received their company of wares. It wasn't how Gundren said it but what he said.
"I'll pay the lot of you ten gold pieces each for making sure my stock arrives safely. Not a penny more or less!", exclaimed the grumpy Dwarf Gundren. Sildar Hallwinter just bellows out a contorted laugh and mounts his steed ready to begin the sojourn home or at least his home in Phandalin.
Beginning travel the roads are lightly obscured and light foilage along the the right of High Road. On the left the coast of Sword comes in plain view of the wagons as the travel is slow at best. Goblins we're said to filter into the area being bandits of the scurvious lot.
Travel is ardous at best coming near a bend to the South eastern trail in the road. Something tells you or perhaps a keen perception that something isn't right.
Gundren raises a hand to a haltive measure, Sildar spits a wad of tobacco out and narrowly squints his eyes looking at the path ahead. It is eeriely quiet for the time of day as it's near mid afternoon.
Thia Moonsong stopped still and deftly retrieved a shiny red apple from her pouch. She stood and took a long hard look at the forest trail ahead, slowly crunching down on the delicious fruit. Flicking her long, blonde hair from her eyes, she absently curled one stray lock over her semi-pointed half-elven ear and squinted into the bushes around her. Her fey heritage senses attuned themselves to the forest, seeking out something out of the ordinary.
Perception (+1): 21.
Whether she spots something or not, Thia is readying a Faerie Fire on seeing any enemies appearing within 60' of her.
As the wagon slows Quin nocks an arrow. From up on his perch atop the sundries he takes his cue from the rest of the party and begins to scan the surrounding area for targets. He shifts nervously in place regretting having to leave the relative safety of the city but knowing that the heat from that last botched job necessitated a relocation.
The Elf Jocyne Sirenia hops down from the wagon of supplies where she had been riding beside Quin, despite his dubious reputation, and takes a good look around the area.
Perception check: 12
As is my habit, the chant for Fire Bolt cantrip runs in my mind.
The huge grey skinned genasi woman leans forward from her seat on the wagon, her heavy, stone-like dreadlocks hanging in front of her face. When the wagon stops, she leans back to see the reason for stopping, asking "What happened, what's wrong?"
She gets down from the wagon, gathering up her gear, readying a javelin to be thrown while donning her shield.
Perception 5
She relaxes her stance after a few seconds of not seeing anything, "Why are you all so tense?"
A few of you with keen perception spot two horses with a broken wagon ahead. Something like fifty feet among the dense trees and spotted shrubs. You have been on the trail for half a day now and among your wares; Barthens wares is a total of 100 gold pieces of flour, crowbars two kegs of ale and salted sinistpork. Something afoot as the noise from birds trails off in a distant echo.
Thia Moonsong looks at her companions, almost seeming somewhat disappointed for some unobvious reason. She takes a big bite of her red apple and tosses the remaining core away with what seems like contempt. One hand on the basket hilt of her rapier, she moves up next to the large, grey genasi. "Something's afoot or I'm a bearded gnome," she mentions to the bulky woman. "The birds have all gone silent and that wagon has trap written all over it. If you're happy to take the lead, I'm happy to cover you".
Thia prepares to follow the genasi forward and is staying alert (she rolled 21 Perception previously). The single word of power to incant a Faerie Fire spell remains on the tip of her rouge-painted lips.
Jocyne looks at the rogue on the wagon and the monk heading into the trees and thinks to herself that the half-elf has the right idea and hangs back close to the wagon.
"Hm, alright. I'll take the lead. If it's a trap, maybe I can spring it. Watch my back." Ruby again holds the javelin at the ready, and she starts to walk to the broken wagon, shield in hand.

As Thia moves closer down the road immediately four goblins are surrounded by purplish pink flames. Harmless but inconceivablely targeted the goblins shriek in awe as they ready their shortbows. Knotching arrows Ruby is ready to spring the trap. Readying his javelin, Joycne hangs back with Gundren and Sildar. The goblins don't notice Orion nor his stealthy ways. Quin finds an advantageous position which gives him partial cover. The goblins have partial cover and ready to loose a volley but This faeirie fire springs their cover and she is right it is a trap.
Everyone near wagon or bushes has +2 to AC goblins have +2 to AC but are seen the goblins rolled 11 on initiative. Please roll initiative and post combat actions.
Thia Moonsong targets the first goblin and calls out to it, "You smell so bad we could make out your pungent reek from a mile off!"
Initiative (+3): 12 The barbed comments are Thia's Vicious Mockery cantrip, which needs the goblin to make a DC 13 Wisdom Save or take 4psychic damage and have disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn.
Note that Faerie Fire means all attacks against the highlighted goblins are made with Advantage (but they should have had a DC 13 Dexterity Save to avoid it).

Thia Moonsong follows Ruby, letting the warrior take point. She’s curious but is not planning on taking the brunt of a bandit ambush...
