You arrive at a camp that contains the citizens of Bonemere. Several tents lay scattered around the area, the mixed odor of sweat and dirt linger in the air. Two neat lines of tents sitting face to face make up the temporary shops of the shopkeepers and merchants. You meet up with King Raurun and Princess Erna within a purple tent with golden frills atop, inside is a small room with a wood throne in the back and a rectangular table in the middle. The king is an older human with a few wrinkles wiped on his face and a bushy grey mustache covering his mouth, his golden crown covers up his hair, so you cannot tell what his hair looks like. He wears a red silk vest with a blue shirt underneath. He takes out a map of Bonemere and spreads it on the table for all of you to see, he points at the map and says "Before we can prepare to face the Arcane Beast, our first objective is to take back Bonemere. The beast's soldiers are patrolling the streets around the clock, make sure you head to all the districts and take them out. But try not to kill them, I think we can find a way to change them back. My daughter has combat experience and will help guide you through the town." The Princess steps forward, she is a darker skinned young woman with long and wavy brown hair stretching down to half her waste. She wears a breastplate sitting atop a set of traveler's clothes with a belt holding a pair of daggers to go along side. She says eloquently to you "It's a pleasure to meet you. Sorry about my father, he just loves giving general commands... a lot." The king replies to his daughter "Darling, don't tell them about my commanding" Enra rolls her eyes, Raurun clears his throat and turns to your group "Is everything clear?"
"Do we have any idea how many soldiers there are?" asks a human of about average height and weight, wearing clothing that could perhaps belong to a minor noble or a wealthy merchant.
(How large is the town? And how many districts are there?)
Tanthir glares at the map as if it has caused him some offense, his arms at parade rest as his eyes navigate through the twists and turns of the warren of streets and avenues of the city.
His eyes shift up to the king, the glare coming with them as the thought of not killing the soldiers is mentioned.
"Everything is clear. But, Master teaches..." His voice transitions into a gutteral orcish dialect.

When battle is joined one will fall.Your priority is to make sure it is them. I will attempt to keep my blade clean of the soldiers' life blood, but it will not be my first priority. As long as that is understood we can go."

"Do we have any idea how many soldiers there are?" asks a human of about average height and weight, wearing clothing that could perhaps belong to a minor noble or a wealthy merchant.
(How large is the town? And how many districts are there?)
The king looks up at the human "There's no way of knowing, there were hundreds of soldiers in the castle at the time of this mess."
(The town is medium-large and there are five districts; The Shopping district in the center, The Rogue District in the far right, The Holy District in the far left, The Magic District in the lower left, and The Druid District in the lower right.)
Elias is standing to the back of the group, contemplatively playing with the symbol of his god Valkur "Sire, I don't know much about this beast. I'm not really from around here, but can you give any information about it? How was it released?"
((IF you gave this info already, I must have missed it my apologies))

"The Arcane Beast wasn't always the monstrosity he is now, he was just this power-hungry human, but his craving caused the townsfolk to force him out of town. He made a new home in this abandoned tower, and created our sacred nine spellbook Staffs, he took the most powerful, The Arcane Staff and used it to transform himself into the monstrosity he is today." Enra weighs in "He terrorized the town while I was a baby. My mom sacrificed herself to seal him away within his own staff. She found the other eight staffs and had soliders hide them, and she hid the last staff, that Arcane Staff somewhere in the castle." The king jumps back in "but some thief broke in and found it, the essence inside the staff must've transformed the thief into the Arcane Beast, he took over my castle and most of my military... so here we are."
(I did put the backstory on the recruitment thread, but that may have been overlooked, here it is to make it easier:
Backstory of the Arcane beast
Within the growing town of Bonemere, there lived a simple arcanist. While he was a good citizen, loyal to the domain, he had a large craving for power. Whenever there was time, he went on journeys across the land, searching for magical items to fulfill his desires. He came across many temples, eventually finding all eight of the Ancient Spellbooks -eight spellbooks containing spells surrounding their spell school,- in the process. However, it wasn't long after his return the townsfolk began to fear him, or what he may become. Out of fear, the townsfolk chased him out of the town, never for him to return.
Feelings of malice, vengeance, and envy swarmed the arcanist's heart, he searched the wilds to find somewhere to make a new home. He came across an old tower one day, there he made his own domain, spending time there viewing over the Ancient Spellbooks, with them he created nine magical staffs, each one of a different spell school. Soon, they became known as the Spellbook Staffs. He took the last one, the Arcane Staff, for himself, using its power transform himself into a monstrous minotaur, there, he became the Arcane Beast. With no use of the other eight staffs, he left them sitting in the tower.
With his monster unleashed, he terrorized The Robed Domain, Bonemere especially, with revenge being all on his mind. Years of terror passed, until one day, Queen Reya chose to intervene. She confronted the Arcane Beast, and used powerful magic seal him away within his own staff. She entered the tower to discover the other eight dusty staffs, thus taking them back to the castle and instructing soldiers to hide them throughout the domain, but none of the soldiers have returned.
Filled with fear of what may happen, the queen locked the final staff, The Arcane Staff, deep within a hidden room of the castle, and left its existence a secret, so only whispered rumors would ever tell its tale.
Kal nods along slightly as the King and his daughter talk. Looking to Enra, he asks, "Do you have any advice on which district we should start in? Do you know a route for us to sneak into the city unnoticed?"
"My King' Ares begins "If you will allow me to say, facing foes that you do not want us to kill, places us in greater danger. I too mourn the losses of the kingdom and it's people but to limit us in action places us and the rest of the kingdoms people at greater risk."
"My King' Ares begins "If you will allow me to say, facing foes that you do not want us to kill, places us in greater danger. I too mourn the losses of the kingdom and it's people but to limit us in action places us and the rest of the kingdoms people at greater risk."
Kal nods his head in agreement. "Capturing or defeating that many soldiers without killing them will certainly make it far more difficult."
"I get that would be difficult, my plan is that you guys knock a few of them out so we can capture them find a way to change them back so we can have a defense again."
Kal nods along slightly as the King and his daughter talk. Looking to Enra, he asks, "Do you have any advice on which district we should start in? Do you know a route for us to sneak into the city unnoticed?"
"The city is not walled off so we can enter it from just about anywhere. Its the castle that is walled off."
The handsome man at the back of the room had been silent up until now. He strides towards the king, his golden cape floating behind him. “Recapturing a town, whilst staying our swords from our enemies necks...” he muses “ sounds like a challenge.”
He takes a knee, and bows his head, before looking up to the king, his soft features only slightly revealing a determined smile. “But a challenge we should take solemnly your highness.”
He turns back towards Kal and Ares, his golden mane swishing and catching the light to seem almost heavenly. “These people who were turned, were once fathers, brothers, lovers. If there’s any way to save them, we must do all we can. Otherwise, what makes us any worse than the beast we fight!”
He looks at Enra, a golden glint in his bright blue eyes. “Enra, your magnificence, what say we start with the holy district. Get back some of our priests?” He gestures dramatically towards the other adventurers. “ If my newfound brave companions agree.”
Enra smiles "That does sound like a good plan, off to the Holy District then!" Your group then sets out to Bonemere, The Holy District has several stone-brick temples in it, the houses are made of out of rigged stones and have unique stained glass windows, each have the symbol of one of the several pantheons. The streets appear to be very empty, but soon after examination, two minotaurs dressed in half a set of armor appear from behind a building, they don't notice you at first, but they quickly turn in your direction and attack. Jinhazar stands silently toward the back of the group, observing all that has gone on.
After a moment's silence, Enra speaks up "Well I'm ready to set off when you guys are. Shall we?"
"Let's go," Kal agrees. "Knocking out a 'few' soldiers should certainly be doable."
