"Sergeant", I will give him a salute, "Sir Lurrinthis Vannidal, I served in Waterdeep. What can you tell us of these orcs and their recent activity in the area? This is a mining community, who is paying for the resolution of the orc problem?"

The guard smiles and says "You haven't seen the posters, the mayor has a 25 GP per orc, dead or alive, with proper proof of corse. That reminds me." He hands the group 75 Gp. "For the orcs you help capture. Divide it how you wish"

Comparing it to the map Elinar already has, how do they appear to relate? Is one a detailed map of a region in the other, or do they cover adjoining areas? Are they in the same hand? (Perception, if needed: 18, if Investigation better, add 2.)

It seems the maps are the same and each raider had their own copy

Geist starts having a slasher smile. "Who wants to bet the hideout is there? And so's their loot pile."

"That's a fair sum."  Takes the 75g and hands each person in the group 15g. "I assume an even split is okay with all of you. What say all of you to ale and a meal while we discuss where to get more of this" indicates the gold from the guard. 

"Sounds good. I'm Geist." Geist briefly introduces himself, agrees, and takes his share, eager for more gold and battle.

Richter actually appears hesitant at accepting any gold, as he hardly played a hand in defeating the Orc raiders. He intended to, of course. But things were what they were. If still given the gold, he grins and says something briefly in celestial. Immediately after he looks over his shoulder as if someone spoke to him there. But after a second or two he shakes his head and brushes off any concern with a wave and smile. "Not sure what more there is to discuss my friend, considering we have the map. Though, I would almost always never turn down a mug or two." He said before looking more pointedly towards Geist. "Oh, and by the way. You asked before if Orcs were the only ones to disturb the peace, correct? Well, apart from this one stirge scare a couple of months back, it's been namely the Orcs."

Elinar introduces himself as well. "I could be persuaded to assist in ridding the area of orcs, perhaps for a share of what we find in their hideout, as well as the posted reward." He takes his share of the gold and listens to what Richter reports. "I'd also like to know who's in charge of the orcs, sending them out with maps." He waves one for emphasis.

(OOC: Are there other towns in the area? If so, Elinar would ask whether they've suffered from Orc attacks at a similar rate.)

Zach listens keenly to Elinar, "You believe there may be further devilry behind these attacks?  Mayhaps we could lure out this greater threat somehow."

Shrugging he continues, "Any loot we find at this Orc hideout is surely ill-gotten, it would behoove us to ensure such items aren't used for some nefarious purpose... Taking them seems the most righteous course of action."

"Can't be too careful."

"so long as orcs die and the loot is gotten, I'm willing to go to town on em."

"My word how very vulgar of you, my friend. But do color me impress for having such an effective 'technique'. I heard certain woman back in Waterdeep possessed such skills as well, but to hear it has been passed along outside their circles proves just how effective it is." He said grinning and giving Giest a sly look. If ever the man catches fully on to the implication of the Aasimar's word, only then does Richter truly chuckle and raises his hands in surrender.

At that, he reintroduces himself if need be, and realizing the others were more new to town, guided the group to the nearest tavern that he knew of. Along the way he would add, "Considering how frequent and tactical -- as much as an Orc can be that. Hah! But considering how the raids been, there's no doubt a chieftan or Chieftess with more than a block of cheese for a brain at the wheel, at the very least. Meaning we aught to expect some resistance in crashing their place."

The guard shakes his head at Elinar, “Except for a couple homesteads our north we’re the only ones the experience these attacks.”

"Let us make plans to leave then. I need to find a fletcher for some more arrows but i have all my other supplies. I also need to tend this wound...so we can leave in an hour or wait till morning. Either is fine with me." 

((I still have this javelin wound in the leg so I need a short rest at the least or a long rest and we leave in the morning))

"eh. might as well see what to eat and if anything useful's in the shops." geist half-acknowledges, somewhat confused as to whatever the heck the bard was implying. *bards are a bunch of loons....* he thought in his head.

"Hmm... Mayhaps it is best if we did rest before setting off.  Especially given your wound, friend."

Zach looks around and takes in the sights and smells of the town, "If we set off in the morning it may give me some time to get to know some of the locals."

Around the town is a  many houses but also a big building labeled "The Griffen's Nest", there is also a temple with some holy symbols, and a common goods shop.

 (To SparkRot: IC you don't know that he's a bard. At best based on what he claims to possess and the way he looks, you might guess he's a sorcerer or lightly armored cleric.)

Richter just nods, smiles, and heads towards and inside the Griffon Nest with some expectations of it meeting the requirements.

Zacharias will opt to join / follow Richter towards the Griffen's Nest.
